"Knock off" (works with Novalauncher and possibly others) - One (M8) Themes and Apps

Hi,
Been trying to set up my phone so I could double tap to make it sleep and I finally figured out a way.
You'll need two things, a launcher that supports assigning an app to "double tap" (novalauncher does this). It will simply launch said app when you double tap anywhere on the launcher.
Second thing is this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=kennethcheng.com.lockscreen.free
All you have to do is assign this app to the double tap in the Novalauncher settings and bam, double tap to wake and double tap to sleep now enabled.
Just thought I'd share this because I know it's a feature everybody wants.

Already been done. Thanks

[Q] Double tap on home

Does anyone know how to set what double tap on home button should do?
It's not double tap its press and hold I have leedroid Rom and I can set it
Sent from my HTC One S using xda premium
No, i was referring to double tap. I would rather be able to use double tap rather than long press. Alternatively, a flash or some sore of audible, visual, or tactile notification when i have long pressed as opposed to short press would be sufficient.
But really, what I actually want is double tap, not long press.
Current mod available is
Recent apps become menu key
Tap on home is still the same
2 second press on home is recent apps
Thats it, nothing else.

There is tactile feedback for long press...it vibrates twice.
@smurf: There is only tactile feedback for that if you enable all tactile feedback, of which I wasn't really looking for. Unless you know of a way to enable only that tactile feedback.
@Bigden: I am familiar with current mods. I know that there is the ability on other phones, specificially motoblur phones, that allows you to change the settings somewhere to effect double tap on home. I wanted to know if a similar method has ever been used on sense.

[Q] Shortcut Shutdown Screen

Hi,
I'm currently using Nova Launcher which has a settings to remap the home button when on the homescreen.
You can map it to a Nova settings, an app or a shortcut.
I currently have it mapped to a Secure Settings shortcut that lock my phone.
The issue I'm having with this settings, it's that it does not respect the delay locking option I have set on my security settings (5 min).
I'm looking for a way to map the home button to something that would shutdown the screen but respect the locking delay like the real power button does.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks.
Its because you're locking the phone in secure settings. Power button turns of the screen. So its a different action.
Which are you using by the way? Dev admin action > lock device or root actions > power button lock?
Not sure how different they are. Essentially you need to look to turn off screen not lock device

Hi haven't payed for the Pro Upgrade so Power button lock is not available to me.
I know it's because I'm using the Lock Device feature, that because I cannot find another option that simply simulates the power button press.
Can someone confirm to me that "Power button lock" in Secure Settings would provide me with the right feature ?
Thanks.
I don't have pro. You're rooted though I guess? Dalvik or ART?
Can use xposed + gravitybox in nova as a shortcut to set device to sleep. This allows the delay to work

Lock the screen from anywhere by swiping [APP]

This is a free app that comes in really handy, since it's hard to reach and double tap the status bar to quickly lock our G3's.
It's called swipe lock.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.t_igra.swipelock.free
Simply swipe from a selected edge of the screen and it turns off the display.

Thanks, nice find.

Another option is in G3 TweaksBox, you can set it to turn off when you double tap the Nav bar. I'm loving it, but you have to tap on the edges.
Double tapping the notification bar is also possible using GravityBox :good:

[Q] Short Cut for Quick Boot Power Off

Hi,
I'm looking for a way to power off the One without using the power button (I don't want to wear it out!). I expected there to be a tile I could add to quick settings but I can't find one.
I've tried installing a shutdown/reboot app but as I'm using quick boot, these apps do a 'full' shutdown which is not what I want.
Have I missed something or is this functionality missing?
Thanks.
You could use terminal emulator or tasker to make a script/task to shutdown and make a shortcut on your home screen.

Double tapping the notification bar will turn the screen off. Don't know if that's what your wanting thought .

Quick boot is a setting in dev options that is sort of like hibernate. When you power off the phone, it can be booted back up in 2 seconds.

If I knew what the command was to put the device into quick boot hibernation then yes I could write a script.
Yes I know about double tapping the notification bar to put it to sleep (turn off the screen), and yes I also have the double tap to wake. But I'm still having to press the power button to 'power off' (I realise most people don't do this very often!).
Thanks...

I'm using the standard CM11S. I tried adding that sleep tile but long pressing it just takes me to the display settings page. I'd have been happy if that had worked!
Thanks anyway.
I use nova launcher. I use a gesture. double tap associated with screenoff app to turn off the screen. Double tap wake double tap in the home turn off the screen.

Putting apps to sleep with 7.0

This feature is somewhat lacking in its execution on Samsung devices...
You can only get the sleep option by long pressing the apps icon that you wish to put to sleep. Only it will work if you have a shortcut on the home screen.....it doesn't work if you long press the apps icon on the app drawer because all that does is put the shortcut on the home screen. This means the somewhat simple task of putting an app to sleep takes 3 steps.
Make the shortcut
Put it to sleep
Delete unwanted shortcut from ocd style home screen.
Am I missing a super easy alternative method??

put to sleep? where is that? I'm only seeing "force close" as usual
Settings - Device maintenance - Battery.
Scroll down to app power monitor, you should be able to put the awake apps to sleep there from what I can see.

Yes its an android 7 feature. Once an app shortcut is on the home screen you can touch and hold to bring up a menu. In that menu is sleep. I do this more waze for example.
