Inbox Indicator shows the number of inbox messages directly in notification bar. You don't have to open notification drawer or app anymore just to see how many unread messages you have!
Many popular apps are compatible with Inbox Indicator: Gmail, Email, Skype etc.
You can disable Inbox Indicator on per app basis.
Configure only once:
1. Install Inbox Indicator
2. Open Settings -> Security.
3. Open "Notification Access" in "Device Administration" section.
4. Enable Inbox Indicator.
Inbox Indicator doesn't collect any personal information. No permissions/root required.
Min Android version supported: 4.4 (KitKat)

Can anyone point me to any apps that generate popup notification windows and sound for any calendar and tasks events (like the incoming SMS popup you get with Go SMS) that would integrate with the main calendar and tasks apps (GTasks, etc)? I have trawler the Market and Google but haven't come up with anything to give me more than just the status bar notifications for each individual app.
I would like to know this as well.
Is there anyway to have email notification show a number on the email icon? For example, if i have 2 new emails, the email icon would show number 2 on the email icon. I have yahoo.
Also, anyway to have miss call number show in different color?

NoLED has a notification for email on your lockscreen that shows the amount of new emails. You can customize LauncherPro to show unread emails also. I think it'll work for yahoo, not certain.
ADW Notifier and there's also a widget that you can get from the market that will show the unread count with a gmail icon.

I have a question that shouldn't be too hard:
the FB Messenger offers an option to "Start conversations from Notification tray". (In the category chat heads)
If enabled, a notification is placed in the tray. (see attachement 1)
Clicking this notification gives you a nice popup from which you can start conversations. (see attachements 2 and 3)
I like this popup but the notification annoys me. Is there a possibility to create a shortcut/intent/whatever to start this popup?
Then it would be possible to either start it from the launcher or as a reaction to an event in tasker.

I don't have any option to show icon badge notifications for gmail.
I don't mean the Oreo dot, but the unread message number. In settings I'm able to add it for wattsapp, facebook, instagram, sms etc, but not for gmail or messenger lite for example.
Any workaround?
