[Q] Flashing advice..and other questions. - General Questions and Answers

I'm currently new to the xda forums, so I applogize in advance if i am posting in the wrong thread. But I currently recieved a samsung sph-d710 that was on sprint from a freind. I currently have a samsung galaxy reverb from virgin mobile that currently has service, and I've been reading around different forums and faqs about flashing phones to other carriers and was wondering if there was any way i could get this phone to work with my virgin mobile account. I know that virgin mobile has had this phone on there service before(my mom has one). And also is it possible for me to somehow rip off the stock virgin mobile android os from her phone? I've browsed around and couldnt find any downloads for the stock virgin mobile os for the phone, so i think this may be the only way for me to get the os. Also how would i go about copying her os system? Do i need to root her phone and create a clockwork mod recovery of her phone, then somehow extract that file to my computer, then use some program to fully flash it over? I'm all very new to the flashing carriers, although i do have basic knowledge of rooting and running custom roms. Does flashing a sprint phone to virgin have to be done with a special program on the computer(i have cdma workshop, but have no clue how to use it). And also even if i was able to flash the phone to virgin mobile, wont the esn still be registered as a sprint phone? Or is the esn device type specific? Also what is prl? Do they need to be updated? I guess in general i'm asking alot of question, but what are the steps to flashing the phone over, what all needs to be changed? If anyone can help answer one or all of these questions i would be forever greatful. Also pointing me to some tutorials would be greatly appreciated :fingers-crossed:

I'm going to assume you didn't flash the patches to resolve all the current root issues.
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...-to-notes-root-install-xposed-unroot-t3411039
You could also try the Echoe Rom once you're rooted which is very stable from my testing.
Hi... I'm wondering the same thing. I have been researching this whole "rooting the s7" process and doing countless Google searches sometimes til 3-4 am and I can't find any new or reveled info to my issue. If I'm in the wrong section please point me to the right one. This is the only thread that comes close to my situation. I have successfully rooted my s7 but have no data/mms. I have followed a few guides with no luck getting root and data to work. I'm using a sprint s7 sm-g 930 that is flashed to work with boost mobile. My problem I believe is with the apn settings. If I'm on stock, I can't view my an settings as the are grayed out. When I root, I can view the apn settings but when I modify them and save they don't show up on the list of apns. All the info ive found only talks about the sprint or credo apn settings but nothing for boost mobile settings. Please let me know if you need any other info from me to successfully root this phone and have data working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Need help with SM-G920A

Hi,
I am using samsung Galaxy S6 ATT version with the following software version:
Android Version 6.0.1
Android Security Patch September 1,2016
Baseband Version G920AUCS5DPI1
Build number MMB29K.G920AUCS5DPI1
The phone is sim unlocked but I need help with rooting / unlocking the bootloader. On checking this forum I did not see that there is any way to do this on my version. So I was just wondering if there is anything else (such as installing any other ROM) that I can do with this phone.
Since the contract on my phone has expired I tried using this phone with another carrier and it does not seem to be working (tried with metroPCS) the phone does not show any other network operators except ATT/T-mobile and Verizon and on trying to connect to T-mobile it fails to connect (metro PCS uses T-mobile line)
After spending few hours with an account rep from metro he felt the phone may not be compatible. So at this point I am just trying to figure out if there is anything I can do with this device.
Sorry for the long winded post but I just hate how these carriers tell you that after the contract you own the device but their own software updates mess up any chance of using your own device as you want.
Appreciate any insight or links to help me figure out if anything can be down to get rid of the ATT rom.
Thanks,
Matt

Need working firmware

I want to start with saying sorry I'm not very savvy in this stuff so forgive me ahead of time. My little sister was goofing off with me phone trying to mess stuff up and somehow managed to do a full wipe including removing all firmware from my phone. My phone carrier sent me to samsung who told me they have no records of my model number ever even existing so they aren't able to re-flash my phone. I eventually found a rom online and flashed it but this one won't connect to data for internet. The model number is SM-J700M and it's a Samsung Galaxy J7. Please help! I don't care what fancy features the Rom comes with or if it's rooted or not I just want my phone to work again

Guide to Flash AT&T stock Rom

I have searched Reddit and XDA and can't seem to find a good comprehensive guide to switching my phone over to the AT&T firmware. I tried a few different firmware versions and tried flashing them via odin but was unsuccessful.
My phone is an unlocked Sprint S8+ running the sprint firmware. I have had a bunch of problems after switching to AT&T due to this. My phone keeps trying to activate on the sprint network, tells me to setup voicemail and WiFi calling doesn't work.
Even after flashing the AT&T image I still get the sprint startup screen. I have seen guides that say I need to change something via ADB, but those usually involve going to the unlocked image. I use Knox and Samsung pay on a regular basis so I am hesitant to try to much and risk tripping the fuse.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

is it possible to remove all the Boost Mobile stuff from my J3 Emerge?

I have the Boost Mobile version of the Galaxy J3 Emerge (model SM-J327P). I've owned it for years and haven't used it for awhile. I want to reactivate it with another phone company and start using it again (it'll work Ive already checked) and I'd like to get all the boost mobile stuff off it and just run the regular Samsung version. I don't know if its programmed into the sim card or something but it doesn't matter what version of firmware I use I just end up with the Boost Mobile version with the boot animation anyways.
yea so I tried flashing to both the SPR and XAS version and it seems that I cant get rid of the Boost Mobile stuff. am I flashing it wrong? I did have the OEM unlock on and wondering if I need to erase anything for complete reinstall to remove all the Boost stuff?
so I just decided to basically put it back how I had it originally. I rooted it and uninstalled all the Boost stuff and bloatware and I'm just going to change the boot image in it so all the boost stuff is basically gone. If anyone has a solution feel free to post it but i'm already tired of messing with it and not going to do anything else with it.
