OnePlus One on At&T - ONE Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone using one on att ??
does att see it as a smartphone? if someone could check by looking at their OLAM if they are using a OnePlus One,id appreciate that. Id like to use one without having to use a dataplan,

Very few people have it, so I don't think anyone is going to know the answer. When I get it, I'll put my SIM in there so AT&T will see it as a HTC One.

hey, thanks for the response. when you get it,could you possibly check with the att OLAM(online account manager) if it shows as a oneplus,im using a droid 3 that was flashed with a gsm radio and it just shows as a generic flip-phone but the other lines on our plan show their respective phones(everyone else has an iphone lol ).

att only knows what type of device you have based on a list of imei's. non att carrier branded devices just show up as "unknown device". i know the nexus 5 shows up this way. and because of that im pretty much 100% sure the oneplus will also be an unknown device. as far as they know, you bought a $5 10 year old nokia flip phone from the mall.

Verizon locked most recent Globals. None of the code work.

If anyone know how to unlock them (well I don't really know how otherwise I wouldn't post this LOL), please send me a PM. Thanks.
Large QTY available and of course will pay.
Option 1 - you have access to Verizon's secret database to get the correct code
Option 2 - you have your own program that can break the lock permanently.
TurboSim is not an option for me.
Sending the phones out to someone to unlock is not an option either.
Buying codes from ebay, from Swiftunlocks, etc... Dude, don't you think I have tried them all already?

sorry, u are not d only one with d problem
it was FALSELY advertised as global phone, so we tot it can be used any where in the word...
It is a global phone. But a Verizon global phone...
To the OP, I would check in GSM unlocking forums, where people lurking there have some serious experience in phone unlocking..
There might be a hardware solution available.

I know this has been probably long been debated but... we bought a MOTOROLA phone with Verizon as our service provider. Why should they choose to lock the phone up if we want to use it abroad? Why should they dictate how we can receive service on OUR MOTOROLA devices? Personally I think if we want to unlock these without an active contract with Verizon that should be our choice, or at the very least Motos.

I know this is an old thread but I thought my input might help others.
I got 2 D2Gs in Jan 2011 and I called Verizon and got both of them unlocked without any issues. I already travelled to 3 different countries and have used 3 different GSM providers. The codes worked perfectly fine.
3G, 2G, H, etc... You name it! They all worked fine.
How about POSTING them in the thread?

You get one code and it will on your phone and no one elses. Also I've heard if you fail to enter a correct code 10 times the phone is locked forever from being global on another gsm provider. You will be locked to verzion period if you leave the country.
This is all i've heard.

My codes are obviously not going to work with your phone, unless what you wanted was for me to post pictures of my D2G working on all those bands. If ever someone wants to go figure how the code matches my IMEI/ESN and what not, I would be happy to PM them all the info.

That's good to know. I was shocked the other week to find out that Verizon has basically removed their global plans from their offerings (they exist for some areas, but $100 for 70MB is a joke). Thus, for an upcoming month-long trip I'll drop $40 on a local GSM data SIM and end up better off. I'm already unlocked so again, thanks for the confirmation.
Any travel to Europe and Asia is going to cost you a fortune for roaming. I used to use Verizon's global data all the time, but lately, I had to get the Droid 2 Global just to keep Verizon phone, my love for Android and not break bank by using local sim cards for data and calls.

I have a motorola drois 2 Global.
Can you help mt to unlock it?
So I may have gotten lucky but this is my input on my droid 2 global sim unlocking.
When I received the phone pretty much the first thing I did was root it to install Fission de-blurred rom. Ok? Good.
You would have to go to defuze's website to get all the details on installing their Roms (its not hard). But after installing the rom along with the droid 2 global fix it simply... worked. Kid you not.
I called a Verizon rep I had worked with before to unlock it and we were confused as to why when putting in a different sim card it did not ask for a unlock code. Even stranger under security sim settings the only option available was to re-lock.
Hell I gave it a shot in popped in a t-mobile sim I had from my touch pro 2 unlocked and called from my droid 2 global and what do you know, worked flawlessly.
My best guess is the droid 2 global fix that automatically installs when installing the rom.
I have not had the opportunity to test abroad yet though I don't have plans to travel until maybe this summer money permitted.
**edit
This doesn't actually worked I checked again and the number which makes the call is my verizon number not the tmobile number of the sim card inside. So now to figure out how to unlock my droid 2 global.
Sent from my DROID2 GLOBAL using XDA App
well i have the Fission ROM running on my D2G and it still asks for a network unlock code whenever i put my simcard in.
Not a lot of ROMs for the D2G. Unless you use ports of D2. Seems like codes work for some and don't work for others. I am pretty sure it has nothing to do with what ROM you're using.

Yeah I agree fully it seems weird but like I said it just worked. I may have gotten lucky with a already unlocked phone which was the Verizon rep's input on it. I was putting it out there in case someone had not tried this yet.

But I have heard about the page in Poland, where they will send you a message in two days with a number to unlock your Motorola for 23Euro. I did something stupid

I bought a HTC one s for 200$ off of Craiglist (first time buying anything from there) came home and tried putting a SIM card in it doesn't get any signal. So i called tmobile up and they said to me the phone was block for fraud and they told me there isn't anything they can do about it. I tried calling n texting the seller back he would not respond. Is there anything i can do with the phone now or am i just stuck with the way the phone is now?

Not much you can do as far as T-mobile.
It could be SIM unlock to use on a different network, ie AT&T.
Meant to "quote" but gave you a "Thanks" LOL
i tried the free method of unlocking it but that didn't work. I thought i was coming up with the wrong code but turns out it was the correct code because i tried a online website that charge to unlock it and they gave me the same exact code i came up with and still haven't had any luck

I'm curious as to why it will not work, is it because the phone imei was block by tmobile. Would that also block me from unlocking it. I look everywhere online n i can't seem to find a solution.

I have no idea what you can do OP but damn that sucks. Good luck with resolving it... now I'm going to think twice before buying a phone from Craiglist.
Always power up, insert sim and make a test call, text and data pull with any used phone purchase. Put the screen through tests, and the touch sensor. Test the headphone jack and all buttons. Look at water damage indicators.
There is a sim unlock thread in development section have you tried it? The only way than would be to change your imei though thats ILLEGAL! As ILLEGAL as stealing and buying the steal!

Does the wifi work fine? Hopefully it isn't a hardware issue!
Everything works fine the phone is practically new it came with the original box and everything. Its just block by T-Mobile carrier. I'll go check at a local cell phone shop and see if they can unlock it, to see if it works on another carrier. If it doesn't then got damnit I'm stuck with the phone way it is....

Making call., send text , .... On the phone before you buy still not enough. There are some asshole out there sell the phone;
1) then report stolen (assume they have insurance ) . Then whatever you do still meaningless.
2) they are on value plan ( they pay full price for thier phone in 20 month). Then they stop using tmobile.
=> both cases above will make tmobile lock your phone.
The most safety way to buy phone on craoglist now is have proof of purchase from the owner.

A proof of purchase from seller on CL does not insure you won't have these fraud problems.
To OP, I would file a police report.

no, with proof of purchase that shows the seller is the one who bought the phone from tmobile, then you can contact tmobile so they can unlock your phone and make the seller pays for what he/she did. If you file a police report, i assume they wouldn't do anything except you have to turn in the phone you bought. There are several topics on XDA discuss about this problem and the only loser is the buyer. I'm feel sorry for OP.
P/s: nasty things like this are happening more often on Craigslist lately, this is why i won't buy phone from craigslist anymore.

What these people are doing is buying the phone on a payment plan. Sell the phone on CL and not make the payments to Tmobile. Sometimes phone will work for a month till it get BL. There's no disputing that it was bought from Tmobile but no payment to then equal BL phone.

Yeah, that's the case make me pissed off. By BL a phone because some one not pay money for them, Tmobile just wastes their phone, make the buyer become such a loser and pretty angry to tmobile them-self . however, the winner is the a**hole who sold the phone...
Weirdest thing is that it can't be unlocked ?? Gosh

Not sure how it works in the States but here in the UK if your phone gets blocked it'll be blocked on all UK carriers.
If you put any sim card it checks against a database and notifies that it's barred.
No way around it apart from changing IMEI which is ILLEGAL.

[Q] How to activate on Sprint?

I am switching from AT&T to Sprint and I just purchased the Unlocked Nexus 5 on Google Play. What exactly do I have to do in order to activate my phone on the Sprint Network? I am used to just popping my SIM card into the new phone and it works but I know Sprint is a CDMA network and does not use SIM cards.
1. How do I get the phone activated on Sprint
2. Will it run just as good on Sprint as it would on AT&T? It will still work with LTE right?

Sprint does not have a byod line as far as I know unless you are going prepaid. Nobody knows yet if any of the mvnos will activate the nexus 5. You could always get an Iphone or something on your new line and sell it to cover your nexus cost and then some.
For a new line it would be much easier just to buy from sprint for $49.
Coverage/LTE will depend on your area but yes it will work.

According to this page the Unlocked version will work on Sprint:
http://www.ibtimes.com/nexus-5-release-date-unlocked-model-will-run-sprint-network-1452872
I probably will get an iPhone or something just to sell it since I will be able to get a new phone on contract pricing but I still need to know how to actually activate my Nexus when I get it. I was thinking about getting the $50 Nexus through Sprint but I am afraid if I do that I it will not be the exact same model. I don't want any Sprint bloatware on my phone and I don't want to get updates later than the rest. I also want to make sure the phone I get is heavily supported by developers. There is just too many unknowns on the Sprint model that I am scared to get it.
So anyway, do I just call Sprint to activate my device?

To get a SIM, either go into the Sprint store. Or go online to the chat (you'll need an existing Sprint acct for this).
To activate, just call the big S and give them the info that they ask for
There's a thread going about this already that has some good info:

I don't have a source atm, but that's all I've heard around the forums. You need to start a 2 year contract to get the phone at their low price though ($50 I think?). They're selling an off-contract one for $400 too. Same device all around.

This is the first time they have ever done it. This also means that the phone will be updated directly by google, with no carrier approvals/delays- which is also unprecedented for CDMA.
I myself am very surprised more people are not talking about this.
I stopped at a Sprint store today and asked about activating a phone bought from Google directly and they said it couldn't be done? Is that the case? I have about 5 months remaining on my contract with Sprint before I go on to another carrier.

[HOW TO] Activate Moto G Verizon Prepaid as Verizon Postpaid

UPDATE: From the responses, it appears that this doesn't work for Moto G prepaid Verizon devices sold at Best Buy
Therefore this may not work so please take that into consideration. Good luck
Given that wasn't a clear thread to document this, I thought I would share my learning.
Short Backstory: I simply bought the Moto G during the Amazon 69.99 sale to replace my dying Droid 4.
Disclaimer
I take no responsibility if this does not work for you. Good luck.
Here are my conditions in order to make this work:
1. Newly purchased Moto G for Verizon prepaid from Amazon(NOT ACTIVATED)
2. Existing Postpaid Verizon account (As of today, 5/30/2014, my upgrade date is 10/1/2015)
Here is how I did it:
1. Turn on the Moto G
2. Bypass the Prepaid Activation by following this youtube video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhphsyRFEy4
3. Skip all the account creation options
4. Once you're on the homescreen, select the dialer app
5. Dial *228
6. Select 1 to program
7. Enter the number you want to activate the phone for including the area code (Enter your postpaid verizon number here)
8. Once the programming is complete and successful, the system will let you know
Thats it! I hope that helps someone looking for a super cheap phone that doesn't want to get tied up with contracts. Makes a great replacement phone as well.
Good luck!
So far this hasn't worked for me. No big deal since it's a great price for a Wi-Fi only device. Anyone know if it's worth it to try and activate it again every few days to see if it goes through? Or is this an "it either works the first time or it doesn't" thing?

I'm curious, too, since I'm thinking about getting two of these for each of my parents.
Yes. After I dial *228, the activation music plays for a few seconds followed by either "must be activated on prepaid" or "cannot be completed at this time" (not verbatim quotes). I also tried to use the website to add it and it told me to call customer service.

I'm wondering if the prepaid detection is server based(so Verizon knows all the IMEI that are prepaid) or if it is phone based(something in the phone identifies the device as prepaid... possibly IMEI)
It also seems like some people can do it while others can't. Does anyone know if there are other models of the Moto G prepaid being sold on Verizon?
Side note, my Moto G updated to 4.4.2 after I activated it on post paid.
I got it from Best Buy in Minnesota and it already had 4.4.2 installed. Maybe Verizon fixed that "bug" with motos preinstalled version of KitKat? I'm still trying every few hours to activate it just in case it slips through by some chance.
And I made sure to clear the recent apps each time.

So, I got two of the phones. At first both of them said they can only be prepaid, but I repeatedly retried to activate on both and it started to ask what number you want to activate on.
The problem I'm coming up with is that it says it can't find my parents' numbers.
They're both dumb phones. They're on an old unlimited plan. Dunno if that means anything.

That popped up for me once too. I'm guessing it says that it can't find the numbers because it's looking for them among a list of existing prepaid Verizon numbers.
Glad to see others still trying.

I tried the same thing, purchased the phone yesterday from Best Buy online and shipped with 4.4.2 - Tried activating it with *228 but got the same "this phone needs to be activated on a prepaid account" message. Also tried activating it online on the myverizon account page, but once i type in the IMEI it comes back with an error saying that I need to call customer service. I also have a friend who works at a third party Verizon store and h attempted to switch his plan over to the phone using eROES (VZW upgrade/hardware change software) and it told him that it was a prepaid phone.
If anyone could figure out a way around this I would be over-the-top happy.
Also, i tried the *228 on a phone on my account that's currently a basic phone with no data. Has anyone tried calling customer service and trying to get them to do it for them?
When I tried doing it on the website it tried to send a text to a phone on the account but buy the time the text came through the session expired. Did you get that?

I didn't, it just threw the error almost immediately. I'm going to try again soon on the off chance that something changed - but I don't have much hope

In my case a window popped up waiting for the authorization code that's being texted. It just was taking half an hour or more to receive the text and by then the window said that it had timed out.
Maybe the system was insanely busy. I'm going to try it again today.

I tried again and this time I tried to put it on my normal line which has my Galaxy device on it. The window did pop up with the authorization code, and it sent me the code almost instantly. Input the code into the window and it disappeared but it had the "please contact customer service" error.
Also just tried again using *228 without any luck. Has anyone found a way around this?

Would this work: retro-flash the pre-paid Moto G to the older 4.3 VZW firmware, and then try activating as post-paid phone.

I just bought a version that has Android version 4.3. It's giving me the "This phone can only be activated on a prepaid line" message when I go through the *228 menu.
Okay, I think I may have just figured out why it didn't work for some people.
I went through some youtube videos of people trying and some succeeding and some failing. I noticed that the ones that failed are retail stores.
My guess is everyone who is trying and can't get it to work is because it was purchased from a retail store. There is a process at the store where they scan the device and activate it on Verizon's network. Its called Point of Sale Activation. This is to prevent theft of products as they can't be activated on prepaid unless scanned by Best Buy.
I bought mine on Amazon. What some companies that don't have a retail front do instead is sell products that are "Live". This determines then that the device was already live to begin with and not "activation" or "call" to Verizon is necessary.
My guess is that this difference is what enabled Verizon to know what phone IMEI or serial is prepaid.
That sounds plausible. Good thinking. So when they scanned it at best buy, they added it's number to the prepaid list.
I want to not like this idea, makes me want to buy ANOTHER moto g from amazon.

Same... my sister needed a phone (shes on the droid 3) so I told her to pick up the 49.99 deal from best buy. It's coming in later today so I'll see if it'll work of if we have to return it.

[Q] fake g3

Looking to buy used unlocked att or factory unlocked g3 on swappa to activate on straight talk ( I've also heard Verizon might work too?). I do not want to buy a fake! (A good camera and IR blaster are a must for me) I feel if I had the phone in hand I could tell but what can I ask from the seller to confirm its real? What if I ask for pic of page with sn,software version ,kernel etc What would I even be looking for ? Or can that page be spoofed as well?
Please help this newbie

You cannot buy them for use on Verizon. Straight talk is several different resellers. But verizon no. Verizon is a cdma carrier. AT&T and factory unlocked phones are GSM. For Verizon you'd need a Verizon phone or sprint phone.
People DONT sell fakes on Swappa as its not allowed.

Yes ill stick with att I know they work with st. As far as fakes not allowed we know people lie and cheat and not follow rules so is there some type of guarantee swappa makes that every phone is genuine? They wouldnt even answer my question about what happens when some one sells me thier in contract phone (wich at that point would have a clean imei) and then stops paying thier bill 3 months later and they block the phone? Wich is why I'm only looking at phones saying unlocked there again Noway to prove I guess. there's gotta be one thing to check or get pic of that proves its real

First off as I said above AT&T phones WONT work on Verizon, which is what you asked. Yes they will work on ST AT&T, ST T-Mobile, but will not work on ST Verizon. If you buy it expecting to be on Verizon's network you'll be disappointed. Straight talk is sold across several different networks.
Well if you'd read about Swappa when someone sells there phones they HAVE to enter an IMEI for one and in which will tell Swappa if it's on a paid account EDGE, NEXT, etc. and which is not allowed there.
The only thing that could possibly happen is if someone reports it stolen after selling and In which there's no way to find that out.
I have sold a ton of things on Swappa as well as buying on Swappa.
Also if you would look at a phone listing you would see they have Feedback, which I'm sure someone that has sold a few + phones with no issues I'm sure Your not going to buy a fake or junk phone.
There's no real thing or pic to prove anything. I could sell you a note 1 and make it say it's a note 4 in the software but just a screenshot you might not ever know lol.
Also a bit of a hint unlocked phones cannot save you from that unless your in another country. If you have a dead IMEI on say a T-Mobile phone even if it's unlocked you still cannot use it on AT&T

Thanks
Thanks for the info! I may not be explaining well I'm not going to verizon I'm wanting to use straight talk who advertises you can bring any GSM phone when I called was told att brand works best. I thought the other was verizon but like u said that's CDMA maybe t-mobile was the other compatible? Idk anyway I'm happy to hear about the contract phone not being issue I had read that could happen maybe it wasn't a payment issue after all. Maybe it had been reported stolen after he bought.

I'm pretty sure IMEI checks for ATT phones tell you nothing about the contract status of a phone, only if it's been blacklisted (lost or stolen)--
TMO phones OTOH will receive the additional information on EIP status, in-contract status, etc.
ATT should be forced to provide the same AFAIC.
You can use CDMA phones on Straight Talk. The kit you buy gives you the network info for CDMA phones and the SIM card for GSM.
