[Q] Apps still in memory after flashing new stock - General Questions and Answers

I had rooted my S Duos and faced some problem with boot loop.
I flashed new stock after resetting to factory mode and cache clearing. But now when I use clean Master to clean junk file it shows many previous apps like Lucky Patcher, Titanium Backup under obsolete apks menu as NOT INSTALLED. I have Super backup and had backed up my apps before rooting. Now I deleted those backups also but those apps not getting deleted.
I also think there might be Superuser app also available in memory which could be hidden.
Is there any way to clean those files without harming my msgs and contacts.
Thanks

backup everything

[Q] What does wiping cache and data do

hey guys,
I want to install a rom on my HTC Desire Z. When i try to flash it, the program asks me to wipe cache and data. What does this mean and do? Does it remove EVERYTHING or just what's on my phone and not on the SD card? Also, will it remove my messages, whatsapp conversations and contacts?
Thanks,
wiping
Wiping the cache and restore (restore to factory settings) will indeed delete everything on your phone, including sms, contacts etc. If you have synchronized your contacts via your google account, you can easily restore this data, after wiping and flashing a new rom. Before wiping you can also install and use a "sms backup to google account" tool.
It is necessary to wipe everything, before flashing a new rom. Otherwise the new rom will not work correctly.
Yes thats remove all settings and stored by user information on phone.
But not all is lost
Free app "sms backup & restore" will simple back up whole message tree on SD card.
What about contacts - u can export them to file, gmail acc or use any external program to save them.

Titanium Backup Restore Settings?

After I do a Factory Reset and Wipe Cache and Davlik Cache,
When I'm restoring Apps through Titanium Backup,
Which option won't mess up the system??
Restore Missing apps with data
Restore all system data
Restore missing apps + all system data
Restore newer versions of user apps
Restore all apps with data
??
I'm quite confused with this.
I do the missing apps + user data. This way if you load a new Rom and it already has apps you had previously Downloaded you dont have to reload them. Jumping from Rom to Rom with different bases though I always recommend reinstalling apps individually and then making a nandroid backup of that Rom in cwm recovery. I've ran into issues with titanium restoring data. so try it and if it doesn't act right then reflash and manually load apps.

System wipes and factory resets

What is the difference between a System wipe and. a factory reset. Doesn't Factory wipe the internal sd card clean and that is why we do Titanium Backup of our apps and store them on the external sd card? Will a system wipe require we do the same thing ?

Factory reset - wipe all user download apps, reset (clear app data/cache) for all system apps. You will boot to a factory setup.
System wipe, you delete all the system apps the result is you have NO O/S to boot to. Twrp will alerts you that you have no O/S.
If you backup your system apps or user apps with Titanium, it will save you time to update. All system apps come with the rom but outdated, so once they installed, you need to update them.
TiBu offers as an option to do a system apps backup. Could those be used to replace the OS? I know a nanroid back up does this but I am curious about how everything works together. :cyclops:

No, the O/S contained a lot more than just system apps, like Kernel, bootloader etc.. nandroid can backup all these, but not Tibu. Tibu only backing up system apps. You need the OS to install Tibu in order to restore system apps.
Edit: Tibu has an option to backup all system/user apps as a zip file and this file can be flash using twrp, but only apps, no O/S.(kernel, bootloader).
Okay, thank very much for clearing all of it up for me

[Q] Stuck in ' restoring app' screen on titanium backup

I flashed sensonic HD rom and when trying to restore apps through titanium backup, the screen gets stuck at "restoring app" and nothing happens..
what might be the problem??
Take a backup of titanium app and it's data (the backup of apps you've made)... clear app data of titanium and reinstall it and see whether it's working?
cleared data but that did not work
Aah well, Try not to restore all apps in a go, may be there's a problem while restoring a particular app??
It gets stuck even while your restoring individual apps??
yes even while restoring individually and tried many apps..
same problem...
even tried wiping cache and dalvic... still same problem..
and these are not system apps either...
Arrghh??
Did you take your backup while you were using ART and now restoring it with Dalvic selected.. Or vice versa??
I also had this issue a few times. I had to restore my user data little by little.
Do you have the latest SuperSU v1.93?
Maybe TB isn't stuck you just have to wait. How many apps do u want to restore? Some apps with big data?

Restore Only user data from my Backup file

Hi, can we restore only user data/ app data from the backed up file from recovery. We are not looking to get the ROM restored.
For an example, I had a custom ROM and in order to install another custom ROM, I've backup the internal data + system. Now, on my new ROM i require the old apps and app data present. Since I have a backup file, is it possible to restore only app data from the file?
Note: Titanium backup works only on root.
Background story: Root attempt has soft bricked my phone multiple times using SU 2.46. Hence, I have completely refused Titanium backup for phone's sake.
Thanks in advance.
