Hi
Sorry if there is a similar thread, kindly provide a link if it is available.
I am Completely a knoob when it comes to rooting, have my note 2 for almost 6 months now i am on stock 4.4.2 (OTA) with knox, can any one tell me how to root and take efs and imei backup ( or can it be done without rooting) as well as to not trip knox and if OTA can still be received.
Questions
1. Will tripping knox harm the phone (physical or brick it forever – where to check knox counter?), i don’t care about warranty as the phone is more than a year old now.
2. Does the WiFi get affected or any other problem.
I would also like to flash Note 3 kitkat (stock) with S5 Mod is there a clear way to do this. By the way i have not done rooting or flashed other ROM’s before ever. I have searched through the forum but very confused as most have already rooted the phones before.
Sorry to post such a big question really like my phone and can’t afford another for some time.
If someone can help me i would really appreciate it. Thanks In advance.

Hello all,
So, same as the title, I have wanted to root my Galaxy S3 running Android 4.3.
It is a factory unlocked device, and I am not bound to any contract/ISP/telco.
I have seen some posts in some blog that I can use Odin and CF-Auto-Root, but I am not sure if it will work or if it will add another brick in my house. I am also concerned on Samsung Knox and if anything unwanted happens if I root it.
Can anybody pinpoint me to a good tutorial here or anywhere?
Hi
Been considering rooting the device for a little while and was wondering a few things.
I'm coming off a samsung G note 10.1 2014 edition ( I know a freaking mouthful) and there a few major drawbacks to rooting , like loosing all warranty and support from Samsung ( they are freaking draconian when it comes to enforcing the no touch principle)
Are there any drawbacks to rooting? Technical or warranty related.. Do you loose functions?
is it hard to unroot?
Simplest way to root?
Anything else one needs to keep in mind when rooting?
How do you run updates after root?
I know a lot of these are uber noob questions, and please bare with me on this. I just don't want to do something I'll regret later
thanks in advance

No drawbacks or lost functionality.
Its easy to unroot. So far every OTA update unroots you anyways.
Easiest way to root is with towelroot.
Don't delete or change anything unless you know the consequences.
Updates come in the same way, over the air. Install the same way as well.
Towell Root
Towell Root, will it work with 5.0 ?
Btw does rooting void warranty?
And can anyone confirm that ota is possible after root?
Also, Towelroot and lollipop?
So I have Samsung Note 3 (n900w8)
For many years I've been very careful rooting my device. I currently have towel root with My knox still at (0x0) and my firmware status being OFFICIAL. However, if I unroot it, the status strangely becomes CUSTOM. I've done many factory resets and it always shows up as CUSTOM until I towlroot it becomes OFFICIAL.
I ultimately want to do a official OTA update to Lolipop, but just want to see what the best solution is in case I brick my device. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
looking forward to hear from any of you experts
Hi
There is no related thread ,so you will have to post in Note 3 Q/A.(After signing up from forums)

Good day !
I recently bought a Samsung Multi Media dock that I finally got to work reliably. I'm not impressed with the experience so I want to flash my phone over to a custom rom so I can tweak settings (and recover from it if I screw it up). I used to have a custom rom on my last phone but since I had to replace it when Cricket nuked their CDMA network I'm stuck with a stock Samsung Galaxy S4, with touchwiz- I hate touchwiz.
My brother kind of held my hand when my phone was first flashed over to CyanogenMod, a more accurate description was that he sabotaged it giving me little reason not to flash a custom image, so I'm still a bit new at this. I've gone threw the forums with the intent of reading up on weather I can and how I should go about flashing my phone. Problem is that I can't find anything that directly relates to the version of the firmware I have and I don't know if its compatible with any of the methods on the table.
I'm rightfully terrified of bricking my phone. I at least want some encouragement of reading about people with a success rate with an identical device before I go off and potentially brick my phone, if I do brick my phone I want it to be completely my fault because I plan on reading every guide and forum thread twice just to make sure I don't miss a nuance of the process.
Anyway,
i have a Galaxy S4, SGH-I337Z
Build #: KOT49H.i337zTUUBOA1
Android Ver- 4.4.2
security software ver: mdf v1.0 Rel 2
any combination of that information just points me to similar threads with no 100% (or even 50%) identical information. I've got three threads open in tabs rite now that say things about MD3 or MK2 firmware and I have no idea if I have those or not.
Anyway I'm hoping someone can find the info I'm to blind to find myself.
Thanks in advance!
Ryo
Hi there,
Best answers you will receive in the dedicated forum for this device, see bellow, but first you need to register an aacount on XDA for full access.
Here's few discussions about your device:

Hello, I deleted a video and I would like to recover it, it seems most android recovery apps require a rooted phone. I don't plant to install any custom roms or recoveries, or kernels, I just want to be able to retrive my deleted files.
Any rooting method for the S6 Edge G920i variant?
Thank you

Unfortunately it seems you haven't noticed the ridiculous number of threads and posts here on XDA that explain, in no uncertain terms, that you cannot gain root access on a Galaxy S6 running Lollipop 5.1.1 without tripping your Knox counter. Yes, your warranty will be voided, but when you have a heap of support here on XDA your issues can often be solved without the need to return the device to the retailer for repair.
This thread explains about the rooting process, and offers one of the best solutions available for the G920I...

My apologies on behalf of other peeps here that may have ignored your cries for help; it's just that we get so many n00bs asking 'how do I root my phone without tripping Knox?' before they use their heads and research the subject, it's gotten quite aggravating...
Hope you get sorted out, and for further details, try reading my Helper Posts...
