Yes you can connect wireless to phone if you use a micro usb OTG adpater but have only suceed to get mono sound
But i hope some one will hack it the phone find the headset on bluetooth but can not communicate with it

any luck?
is there a way at least for the headset to work in stereo? In Windows it works only in stereo without the need of installi g any additional drivers,.

it works
I recently upgrade my xperia z1 compact to lollipop to 5.0.1 and tested the gold wireless headset again, and it works perfectly in stereo sound via the otg adapter.

I tried it on my nexus 6 Android 6.0 and i can only get mono audio. I also had a chance to test it on my brother's s phone Android 5 and it works on stereo mode.

i have Sony DR-BT21G which pair for both phone and media playback, but i cannot get my Sennheiser PX 210 BT to pair with media. They pair with phone which is kind of useless since they don't have a mic, but i cannot get them to pair for music playback. The Sennheisers worked great on my Nokia N900. Gingerbread is supposed to tweak Bluetooth so i am waiting for OTA update from my carrier (Wind) before i experiment with ROMs.
SOLVED found an options menu for the headset, unchecked use for phone, checked, use for media, and it works GREAT!
UPDATE: Sennheiser remote controls do not work. No NEXT TRACK, PAUSE/PLAY etc.
No problem staying connected to my blueant v1 or my car. What ROM are you on?
Works well with my Moto S9-HD and 8xxPlantronics headsets, both for phone use and music. Didn't notice any difference after gb update from stock.

[Q] Normal Headphone - Direct plug in vs Bluetooth?

Hi
I did read posts that the wiring is not normal and a head set connection would need some kind of Adapter. Is it true? Mine did not work after plugging it though a notification came up.And where to get this from?
ATM I am using Bluetooth Sony MW600 and it can control the Music player settings via remote.Any one knows how much battery would be hit using this bluetooth vs Wired?
ipod style headsets-plugs should work.

I have used a standard headphone - that I use for my MP3 player - into the TF pad and it worked.
I have also used the handsfree kit that came with my HTC Wildfire phone - which has a built-in mic (you know it is a phone handsfree kit) - and this works too. Even the microphone works properly.
So you don't really need any special headphones.
Thank'd.
Mine works now too!
Anyways would be interesting to know the impact of bluetooth on battery.

USB audio on stock to pioneer Deh-x3500ui

I have my S3 on stock software. Bought this pioneer deck that says its android compatible. Could use the headphone aux in but wanted to use the USB audio. Is there something I'm missing. I put the phone in "media mode" and the deck says na USB audio when I connect it.. so its recognized but when I play something on the phone it just plays through the phone speakers. I'm new to this integration. Searched the forum with no avail. Any help greatly appreciated.

Most decks are "android compatible" by either reading the phone as a usb device or by bluetooth. Since the S3 doesn't present itself as a usb storage device, it won't work via usb. The only ways to connect it is either through aux cable or bluetooth connection. Btw have the same deck as you lol
Ha thanks for the reply. Aux it is since no Bluetooth on it. I bet you like those colors don't you.

Haha, yeah the colors look sick. If you want to have a bluetooth connection, you can do a round about way. If you want a kind of iphone/ipod touch experience (changing songs/volume from the phone) with the S3, get a bluetooth adapter such as the auris. You connect the bluetooth adapter to the iphone cable and then just sync up the bluetooth to the phone. Bluetooth 4.0 aptx quality supposedly equivalent to usb.

[Q] Line In Recording

Is it possible to use the 3.5mm jack on the Nexus 5 as an input source for recording?
Like connecting it to a guitar.
Thanks in advance.
I don't know, but would be curious to know the answer.
Do you have a piece of hardware that you could test it with?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
tried but didn't work...
could be a TRS TRRS problem... not sure...
related?

I believe the only way is via USB...but you have to use an app as Android does not build in USB recording as does Windows. I use this app along with a USB interface and a microphone on this phone and my tablet. Works great and the dev is a great guy. He also makes a DAW (there's a free version) for recording and editing.
that's... too bad then. thanks for info but.
btw, any suggestion for usb audio in? or usb mic? thx.
anyone? " _ "
I use a pair of wired ear buds that have a built in microphone for calls. I'm running CM11 not stock but I just tested and "Sound Recorder" is more than happy to receive its input via the headset jack. I would believe it's just a matter of finding the right converter plug for your guitar.

I have used ASR for recording, works fine over the headset jack. It is a mono source of course. It won't work with a standard 3.5mm plug of course, you have to have the signal on the microphone portion - which is ground (silence) for the standard plugs.
I used the adapter that came with Dragon Naturally Speaking. It has two 3.5mm stereo plugs to one 3.5mm stereo+mic plug. If you use a 3.5mm stereo cable into the mic side of this adapter it works fine.
You could probably rig up something from Radio Shack, but I didn't have to because this worked, and I don't need the adapter for my computer so it was just sitting in the cord box...
thanks to everyone who replied, truly.
it seems that there are 2 solutions...
1) usb sound w/dedicated app
2) cable that turns L/R input from TRS tip to M input on TRRS tip
the 3.5mm/trrs/(left/right/ground/mic) socket on the phone should work as tdcrone mentioned above. as long as a 3.5mm stereo+mic adapter available, or a custom cable that turns the original L or R input into M on the output end.
this is by far the simpler solution, **if such cable or adapter is available**, the caveat emptor is that the record will be mono, and there could be mic gain issues...?
otoh, the usb solution works, at the cost of having to get an adapter and apps for android costs.
@Vegasden: i see that both USB audio recorder pro and audio evolution mobile daw seem to work with usb recorder, and the latter one is just marginally more expensive?
edit: sorry, just realise that one also needs to buy usb audio recorder pro if she/he wants to use audio evolution mobile daw to do usb record
Is me again.
Do you think these will work? They claim to support iPhone only...

Connecting to 2 Bluetooth devices A2DP and car headset

Hello, my car stereo has inbuilt Bluetooth headset however it does not support A2DP streaming for music. I hate having my car dash cluttered with wires and plan to buy a BT A2DP streamer for my aux connector in my car to stream music. Can the nexus 5 connected to 2 Bluetooth devices, ie, the A2DP device to stream music and also my car BT headset?

Yes it works for me. In the blue tooth setup screen set the car adapter to media audio only, and the headset to phone audio only. Then they should play nice together.

Thanks for the confirmation of this being possible. Any recommendations on what adapter to purchase? I have had a look on eBay and there are plenty to choose from however my concern is that the lower priced units are cheap for reason. I am willing to spend a bit more to get better sound quality
