Tempered Glass screen protectors at a great price! - Galaxy S 5 Accessories

I just wanted to alert anyone who might be considering purchasing a tempered glass protector for their S5 about the one that I just put on my phone.
It is iCarez brand and is sold on Amazon for only $8.95 (currently).
Here is the Amazon USA site link:
http://www.amazon.com/Protector-Ant...acement/dp/tech-data/B00IM7DZEG/ref=de_a_smtd
I just put it on today and can say that the packaging was very premium and that it went on and fits perfectly. It is much less expensive than a lot of other options out there and I couldn't imagine any other's working any better. They also have lifetime warranty replacements too.
It is fitting nicely with my Spigen Tough Armor case.

icarez glass protector
I purchased this same one. I was VERY impressed with the packaging, they even give you the rubber bands to hold it on for proper positioning. love the feel of it. (smoother than the actual screen) for the price, there's no way to beat this, they could easily get away with charging 30 bucks for this one.

How does the screen look? any change in quality or almost invisible?

also is the front camera covered? I bought one of those which didn't have cut out for front camera as a result I wasn't able to take selfies with decent quality (although samsung front camera itself is not so good)...

I'm totally happy with my cybertech one. I haven't even thought about it since I put it on.
Sensor, speaker, and cam are cut out.

$8 well spent

Just got mine today. For some reason, mine didn't come with the rubber bands or the placement stickers. The instructions just say to clean the screen, peel off the backing and put it on. It really was simple and easy. What I really like is my S5 is no longer a fingerprint magnet.

Thanks, iomega311. I will have to give the iCarly brand a try. Looks really good.

It seems this one comes with a camera lens protector as well. I wonder if it is also tempered glass?

lol... No, what I meant was that before I put on the screen protector, the screen was very dirty with fingerprint smudges. I don't know why, but I never had that problem with my GS3. I haven't researched it, but I wonder if the GS5 is using a different screen.

Phew ok. I just ordered it last night and hopefully this will last longer then the other tempered glass on another forum that it was popular to get.
Zero S5

Sweet! I got my package! So what should I say?? Hmmm well they have the wet wipes like all packages have. The hanger is also a squeegee but really unnecessary. They also provided the microfiber cloth, some dust removal stickers. When I put on the glass it was easier then that anker glass protector idk why though lol. The clarity is still best. The applications is quick and easy. Nothing sticks out. And here is the best part... Wait for it..... You can still use your fingerprint scanner. Lol

perhaps you could spend a few min browsing trough the screen protector thread.
plenty of revies of what ppl like.
i'm using many freebies ones that are very good, but..........
traces of oil from my face and fingers are horrible
on the other Screen Protector topic, some one mentioned a brand that is SUPPOSEDLY Anti Oil resistant
The best screen protector is already on it. Gorilla Glass!
Otherwise I just use one of those 5 for a couple of quid on ebay. Not bad at all.
Case
Hello,
I bought a really nice case for only 7 euro's (https://www.b2ctelecom.nl/CASETSI901/silicone-hoesje-voor-samsung-i9000-galaxy-s-white-tsi-tp.html). I am very happy with the case, it fits perfectly.
I also bought this screenprotor: https://www.b2ctelecom.nl/MIRRSI900...en-protector-voor-samsung-i9000-s-galaxy.html but this is not a good one. It looks like the screen is darker and putting this on you don't get the fulle benefit of the super screen
This shop has more goodies for your Galaxy S (see https://www.b2ctelecom.nl/p/10/mid/3/tid/1312/samsung-s-i9000-galaxy.html)
Good luck

I prefer to go naked. Clear screen protectors are fingerprint magnet, and matt screen protectors look bad. There's no in between.

Gotta agree with that.
I'd put a protector on if I were you. Don't learn the hard way like myself. I was going naked screen for a bit and as every day went by I was confident the screen was not going to get a scratch.
Then I accidently shoved the USB cable with my phone in my pocket and bang - scratched it. Just a small one, but enough to be seen in reflection.
Better a screen protector get scratched and replaced rather than the screen have an unrepairable scratch for it's life.

For sure I'm going to get a screen protector. I just find it funny how some people would bother posting in this thread telling me to go naked when I've clearly made up my mind. The glass is scratch resistant and not scratch proof. Like you, I also stuff coins and other small items into my pocket in addition to my cellphone so I wouldn't be surprised if scratches form if there's no protection on the screen.
SGP Steinheil Ultra Crystal

SGP Ultra Oleophobic Film
I give the thumbs up for the SGP Ultra Oleophobic Film as well. I'm usually it right now and think it's probably the best one I've used on any phone so far. Extremely clear, smooth, and responsive. And easy to clean!

There's no cut out for the front camera but in all honesty, the shield presents no discernible degradation in front camera quality.
I got mine from Cretouch, but you can also find it available from SGP eBay resellers or SGPcraft themselves.
The oleophobic properties of the screen aren't as pronounced as I would like, but it still beats non-oleophobic screens. I was using the Martin Fields protector prior to this one which was excellent in terms of clarity, but it looked like a greased pig had gone to town on it after you were done playing with it.
i recently received my galaxy and made sure i got myself a good screen protector. after all everyone raves about the screen and i'm sure after a 2 year contract it's going to have a few marks without one.
i bought a Martin Fields Overlay. Not cheap but more than happy with it, I've used the cheap ones from ebay on other phones and they definitely aren't as good.
it includes a cover for the camera lense as well.
sorry new account so cant post direct link, just google martin fields screen protectors.
I put the Invisible Screen on the 2 i9000's we have and am happy given the circumstances. The protector certainly holds some oil and grim but it's easily cleaned. I'm willing to deal with the cleaning for a scratch-free screen.
Screen protector only (what I did)

Full body protector
http://cgi.ebay.ca/FULL-BODY-Screen...635151?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item563ee8da8f
[EDIT] forgot to add that the protector DOES have a cut-out for the front facing camera
Why would you want a screen protector when you already have gorilla glass. It doesn`t scratch that easily. It`s not resistive touch screen. It`s capacitive and it`s gorilla glass. Enjoy the clear display without worries is my suggestion.
i have copter, the same as IS and it looks like crap! Wonder if its the pentile that creates interferance patterns... IS looks good on lcd

I think if they do, even the glass protector would need to have curve. 2.5D display of Note4/5 or edge display of the Edge variant wouldn't be covered completely otherwise. And even if they come up with something like that, I would assume the price would be too high..
I hope skinomi makes this for the edge +
Give them some time and I'm sure temper glass edge to edge protectors will be available

Looks nice but no brand name to research reviews to see how it well it covers so 25 from a unnamed company that ships directly from China is definitely too much!
Plus paying $25 and you may get the screen protector between now and Halloween.
I got the skinomi screen protector. I guess this is the best selling on amazon for this phone, but i dont recommend it. There are plastic indentations of on the screen, its wet install so no bubble, but its a nightmare to install, cos even if u wet install it, and squeeze out the water with a squeezee, the skin wont stay on the screen.

Waiting for spigen or some other known brand to come up with a curved tampered glass screen protector.
I figured $25 to protect my $850 phone until a better cheaper version is available was worth the chance to me. Trust me I wish there were more options but that is not the case right now

Take pics and tell us if it fully covers when you get it?
Finally, it will come out with perfect match to the edge+ or something.
The one I ordered shipped today. I also noticed a bunch of new people selling similar tempered glass edge to edge protectors on ebay.
I've also ordered Skinomi and yes,it's wet install and kind of tricky but luckily I was able to have a successful install. It's kind of soft and rubbery feel, but not much that cause worry or distraction. I'm actually loving it.
I've got the same one (skinomi) on my phone. Installation was a breeze. No bubbles or peelings, but I do hate the fact that there are some dust on the edges of the screen protector, none on the screen tho. I also hate the rubbery feeling, but for now it will have to do until I can get my hands on the tempered sp. I almost always go with the Zagg tempered glass, since it features a lifetime warranty.

I would have to Agree i used the Skinomi on my Note 4 edge ,most people couldn't believe I had a screen protector on it it was that hard to see, and the curve on the note4 edge is a lot more of and angle .........just my 2 cent's , just a tip for those that are using any type of wet application I would suggest you get a bowl , like a large salad bowl fill it half way with water and then add a few drop's of dish detergent not too much , it allow's you to get your finger's and the screen protector evenly wet and if you see a hair or a piece of dirt or whatever just pull it off submerge the screen protector to get what ever that was either on the screen or on the protector or the screen and start over again , ever since I saw this tip from somewhere here on XDA it's never failed three different phones and perfection ..........:good:
I just put on the techfilm dry install and it wouldn't show in a picture that's how thin it is. No bubbles full coverage, had to use a flashlight to make sure it was on. Best protector I've ever used on any phone. Oh and no rubber feeling like I've heard about others

Get a camera lens protector, before it's too late

The protruded camera lens design is always a disaster waiting to happen. Simple day to day activity can scratch/crack the lens. But looks like this is the design trend with most manufacturers these days.
I have purchased a protector for my lens, and it is working well so far.

So it does not fit.
So mine is cracked now. Anyone been able to find a replacement glass lens?
I totally agree with this. I'm very gentle with my devices. I keep them protected and in a pocket that never has anything else in it. My camera lens already has scratches on it. I've never had scratches on any of the device's I've ever owned. Whatever LeEco is using for glass is very soft and easily scratched.
With that said, I would very much like to order a protector, but I'm afraid of waiting another 30 days by shipping it from China to the US.
I've been unable to find any other camera protectors made for this device being sold within the US. Can anyone direct me to others they've found?
I ordered the one from Aliexpress in the OP. Works just fine. However, took about 2 months to actually get it.
Here is what I recommend.
1) Order a SUPER CHEAP screen protector
2) Create a template for the shape of the lens
3) Trace it onto the cheap screen protector
4) use an exacto knife to cut out the shape from the cheap screen protector.
It doesn't even really matter if it fits perfectly as long as the area in front of the lens is protected.

This is a good idea. But the protector better be a tempered glass rather than regular plastic screen protector. Plastic ones would get scratched and might affect picture quality.
On the other hand, you can probably cut out like 20 of these from a single screen protector and change it every week.

Absolutely agree. It could at least be a good solution while someone waits for their protector sent from China. My previous Pro 3 (before the screen shattered and I received a new one) ended up getting a nice scratch on the lens while I waited for my shipment from China. I was super careful, but still scratched it somehow...
Had the tempered glass from Alibaba for a couple months and it has been great. It is the first time I ever bought a screen protector for a phone camera before. No scratch on it so far and it is beveled well enough that I don't feel the rough edges bothering me. I will probably order another just in case since I generally find tempered glass without edge protection to crack relatively easily over time.

Any screen protectors that don't suck?

I just got my essential phone and I'm really honestly digging it. I think that it's a very nice phone that fits my needs well.
However, within a day and a half I have already scratched my screen. Its dead center on the screen and like an inch long Literally got the phone on Saturday and scratched it by Monday early AM. I didn't do anything with the phone besides take it in and out of my pocket. Didn't even make it to work with the phone yet. So I'm pretty upset about that.
I know it's gorilla glass 5, but I have never scratched a phone so quick before. Hell my old phone (Moto X pure) Only had one small scratch after running it for 2.5 years without any screen protection at all, including numerous drops and rough handling.
So I guess a screen protector is a must. I ordered a tudia case and a tempered glass screen protector off Amazon. The screen protector is garbage. I hate it. The edges of the screen protector do NOT stick down, even without the case. The edge all the way around the screen is lifted. It looks terrible.
Are there any screen protectors for this phone that are actually decent? I would rather deal with the chance of more scratches than stare at this awful screen protector with unstuck edges.
Photo of the terrible edges.
I'm curious to know too
I haven't found a good tempered glass for this phone. They all seem to have issues. I've been using the IQ Shield wet install screen protector. Not tempered glass but looks and feels great (almost as smooth as glass), self healing and works with cases if you get the case friendly version.

glass screen protectors are nicer, but they suck on this phone.
I went with wet install plastic in the end because it does the main reason for one, protect from scratches, I'm confident it will.
I just hate the wet install process.
but my experience with glass is it doesn't protect from breaking anyway. any significant hit that would break the screen will break the screen no matter what. I think a bumper case is most effective.
I'm using the this one.

You need to clean your screen really, really, really good before you apply it.
Any oils will show up as a rainbow effect or something close.
I've been using it for weeks now with no lifting with a Tudia case.
Some people say they pop off. That has not been my experience. YMMV

I also use this one. I have actually already gone through 5 of them... It seems like some of them are more sticky than others maybe. Initially I used them without out a case and they would come off all the time, but since I've had the Tudia case 1 fell off and the new one has been on there 3 weeks.
My opinion is they are hit or miss... just hope 1 of 3 is good.

So is the Incipio screen protector any good? I don't even care that it's $40, if it sticks down properly without the bubble around the edges I'll buy it.
I am also interested in finding a better screen protector. I have been using the IQ Shield LiQuidSkin, which worked great for a few weeks, but now a corner is peeling up, I assume from pulling it in and out of my pocket. I might go ahead and get another one if I can't find anything better. Would love a tempered glass protector if someone actually makes a decent one!

Where did you purchase? I'm not even seeing it for the Essential PH-1 on the official website....Nevermind, had to do a manual search for our model.

Insanely smooth, crystal clear, beautiful, easy to install screen protector!

Phantomskinz is awesome! Almost feels like glass its so smooth, insanely clear, and works more than perfect with the Spen. I cant tell you how happy with the way this came out from the presentation on the skin, easy directions all the way to an easy perfect install. Can hardly even tell a skin is on this and it self heals!! I have used these on many of my phones all the way back to my Pre days and no others really compare. So happy with this and highly recommend!
Can you take any closer pics? I'm curious to the orange peel on it.
Phantom skins seem good value but shipping to UK makes it expensive.
Absolutely no orange peel at all and my pics are pretty close. Love how this feels and looks. It's as if its not even there.
I would say I used a good amount of liquid. I actually dont think you can use too much. You want it to be able to move on the screen until it fits just perfect.

So it is indeed wet apply? I may have to look into get one. Doesn't this also come with a choice of back protector as well?
You have your choice if you want to get a back. they have a clear HD one that's similar material to the front or you can get a matte black film similar to dbrand. I think you will really like these. They feel like no others
Looks just like the Spigen Neo flex screen protector. You can tell by the reflection in the second picture. Probably the same protectors but different cutouts to differentiate themselves.

Definitely not the same. I've had both. The Phantomskinz really does feel like there is nothing there. It's a finger print magnet like glass and the one I have isn't case friendly at all. I think there is now an option for a case friendly version. There is no drag at all like PET protectors with the S-Pen, either. It's really great and I would be even happier if the corners weren't pushing up thanks to my case. Huge bonus in my eyes is that this has cutouts at the top and extends to the top of the screen. It's a great protector, but not cheap.
I tried the Spigen neo flex for the note 9. Too much orange peel, although the coverage was good with a small gap for cases. Wife had bought it for her note 9 ( still on order ) so I used one of her two pack.
I'm currently using a glass type protector. And a pet film for the back that makes the it look like a note 3 or note 4 back battery cover lol

The orange peel isn't that bad and gets better. The neo flex is self healing to. I cured mine a little bit faster by leaving in sunlight for about 15 minutes on each long side. Probably the best regular screen protector compared to glass. I'd love to get a glass but hey always end up cracking on me even when I put the glass side against my leg in my pocket. Much cheaper than the good glass too. Chances are we won't get the great regular screen protection because of the curves. An aggressive glue would have to be used and I doubt most people want to deal with that.

I lost faith in glass screen protectors even before owning a note 8. But the one I got out of urgency, since I wanted some scratch protection before buying a regular wet applied one seems to be ok.

I tried the Spigen neo flex as I have tried so many and it is definitely not the same as Phantomskinz. Orange peel on spigen. If you want to be happy you should try the Phantomskin. I refuse to spend 40- 60 on a whitestone
Update: This thing is the best screen protector you can buy. Has held up perfectly since day 1 and the spen feels amazing with it! It really feels like glass.
is it this one? https://phantomskinz.com/samsung-galaxy-note-9/
That's it! Just make sure you get the right one. Case friendly or edge to edge. You will love it
On the product page it shows it's 14.95 but upon checkout it becomes 29.95....
Update: Installed about a month ago and still flawless. The smooth glass feel is awesome

Make sure you select none under the body protection.
Just ordered mine and see if it's that good.

I would like to try it but the shipping cost to Greece is exactly like the glasses cost. [emoji26]
Gottriaa... Isnt it awesome? Better than any other protector. Glass feeling and self healing.
