Tutorial for quick unlock
First things first :-
1. What is bootloader?
> Bootloader is a piece of code that runs before android loads up. Bootloaders usually contain several ways to boot the OS kernel and also contain commands for debugging and/or modifying the kernel environment.
2. Benefits of unlocking bootloader?
> You can flash custom kernels/ROMs.
> You can ALWAYS root your device. (compelling, eh?)
> You can flash alpha builds of newer firmware ( generally newer android version ) which is under testing and not meant for end consumers.
3. Disadvantages of unlocking bootloader?
> You may void your warranty.
> You may loose some proprietary vendor software such as Bravia Engine, Download Music info etc. due to removal of DRM security keys.
> OTA updater may refuse to update your device and pop up a 'Device's software modified' message.
4. Can i unlock my bootloader?
> Go to dialer
> Type *#*#7378423#*#*
> Service info > Configuration
> Rooting status :
"Bootloader unlock allowed" - You can unlock your bootloader
"Bootloader unlock not allowed" - You cannot unlock your bootloader
Unlocking bootloader:
You can unlock bootloader in two ways:
1. Official way(Instructions Included)
2. Flashtool(Recommended)
1. Generate your unlock key by entering your IMEI. (To check your IMEI - *#06# )
2. After you have the key, use flashtool or cmd prompt to unlock. (easy?)
3. To verify, check rooting status :
"Bootloader unlock done" - Congrats, you've successfully unlocked your bootloader.
Đã root được chưa?
Great was waiting for some1 to post this....
Now we need a recovery.
After that a rom by me coming up

It's for Permissive status on SELinux. If you have nothing good to say how about you don't say anything at all? Or you read the actual OP before you make a stupid remark!

Did you also read the part in the op "to allow adb connection with root" or you didn't read it either.
For me that is already available with the stock kernel and was just wondering what the op meant by it.

Hello,
Did anyone got it on 4.4.2?
Hi all,
I have a great news
http://developer.sonymobile.com/201...for-a-range-of-unlocked-xperia-devices-video/
Bootloader is compatible with open devices roms and also enables real recovery (Volume Down + Power)
to flash recovery partition on device you have to
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Happy Cooking
J
PS.
in case latest software does not appear just press "all Services"
flash latest software available and on top new loader
Just tested, and it works good.
Not having separated recovery is probably the thing that bothered me most in Sony development.
And can confirm PM on 3.10 is working now.
Thanks jerpelea!

Bootloader version you can see in EMMA after you plug in the phone, about certain versions, I don't know.

I managed to flash New bootloader and then "recovery.img" on it!
So is that recovery stays there no matter what firmware/kernel i put on the phone?

Why "CM Recovery"?
CWM is all the time being the Best and popular recovery and have a backup option!
Maybe wrong thread to ask such questions?

It is a wrong thread but screw it.
Because I build CM ROMs and CM recovery is default there.
I do agree that they've dropped CWM way too early, but I think it's not compatible with 5.0 zip layout, so it's either this or TWRP (which is kind of an OmniROM thing).

I'm going to buy a used Xperia Z5. To confirm, can ALL VERSIONS be rooted and have a custom recovery (such as TWRP) installed on them? It would be E6653 but not sure which country it is made in or designed for.
before buying just check for bootloader status by typing in the dialer app
*#*#service#*#* > Service info> Configuration
In this section it should be like this under
Rooting Status:
Booloader unlock allowed : yes
if its like that then you are good to go.

Hi there
I want to unlock my bootloader and I tried through sony's website but I could not succeed.
How can I unlock it without sony's guiding website and installing Android Studio.
Any help plz?
Hello Billabomb75
First check if you can unlock your bootloader by entering *#*#7378423#*#* in the Phone app.
Then click service info and then click on configuration.
Under rooting status it should say bootloader unlock allowed to unlock the bootloader.
If it says bootloader unlock not allowed you cannot unlock your bootloader.

If you would like to backup your TA partition for warranty then check this forum https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2292598.
The first thing to do to unlock your bootloader is to go to this https://developer.sonymobile.com/unlockbootloader/unlock-yourboot-loader/ website and choose your device, then after clicking continue you will need to enter your email for a confirmation email and tick agree to terms and conditions and click submit.
After opening the link in the confirmation email it will ask for IMEI which you should enter in and tick the two agree to terms and conditions and click submit.
Now check your email again it should have the unlock code for your device.
Finally launch flashtool and click on unlock icon, then connect device in fastboot mode( if connected then disconnect phone from PC, power off device, while pressing volume up button connect your phone to your PC), now it should ask you for your unlock code which you can copy and paste from the email Sony sent you and then click unlock.
This should unlock your bootloader.
