I uninstalled the music app without backing it up via Titanium Backup. Now I cant trim ringtones in settings. I wish to trim ringtones in settings. So, if someone has a TB file I could restore from, or a flashable zip, I would be very greatful!

Why not just dirtyflash your rom? or open the rom zip and find the music apk.
I tried installing the apk by itself and music would just fc. I ended up using a friend's m8 to make a restore file.

Scroler posted a Stock Odex ROM, I would suggest downloading that for these type of issues in the future as you can just grab the file and then use my updater-script here to make yourself your own flashable.zip - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52520133
You could always dirty flash the rom your on also

How did touchwiz get deleted? If all you did was a system restore it should still be there. I was trying to backup some system apps also with Titanium Backup, but for whatever reason they did not have .APK files, so it was a little out of my league to figure out how to do it.

Atleast tell which ROM were you using?
If u are using custom rom or have cwm backup in .tar format then extract the above file from rom or backup and place the file in system/app
Via aroma file manager
Default ROM

Have you tried just extracting the text messaging app from any stock Rom? I was on aviator Rom(Moto) and just switched to eclipse (aosp). I just extracted the apk and ran it. Then I used titanium backup to freeze the stock aosp messaging app (or u can back up and uninstall).
The stock app might reinstall on reboot since its a system app. To remove you can use root explorer and navigate to /system/app and mount r/w then delete the messaging.apk. you can also copy the Moto text messaging apk in that same directory and change the permission to rw-r-r. You can accomplish all this with root explorer or any file manager with r/w to system functionality.
I saw a post somewhere that had the zip files for a dark and light version, but can't remember where, but with any system apk, you could pretty much follow the steps I outlined. Just be sure to back up anything you delete just in case.

Here are all the files needed.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2049679
The app shows up in the app draw but FC every time. I guess it needs something else when running on an AOSP ROM.

Did you copy over the files from the lib folder as well and change the permissions?

Might not work as you may need the apps framework that is built into the sense framework. But it would live in the system/app/ folder.
If Any of the custom sense ROMs have it you could download the ROM and extract the app from there instead. Remember that when installing it you must have root access to place it into the system/app/ folder and you must set the permissions correctly.

Do I need root access if I install the app on the sdcard ? (I am not sure but I think that some apps are on the sd card).
A few days ago I tried to do get the root access on my phone but I did a bad thing and lost everything ! So, I won't do it once more.

Thanks.
I had used Universal deodexer to deodex my HTC FM and Music apps from my stock 2.3.5 rom.
the deodexer had extracted framework files from my stock rom and made copies of the deodexed apk.
i wanted to use those apps, once I moved to a custom rom (PAC v23)
but after flashing and putting those apks on the system/app folder
those apps still fail to start.
any suggestions ?
Hi,
I'm running the latest 5.1.1 stock Deodexed from Tekxodus (official TMO) and have been trying to convert Textra into a system application.
Titanium backup just stays at processing.
I've tried copying the folder manually to /system/app - but it doesn't show up after reboot.
Is there another method I should be looking at?
Try using lucky patcher
I had similar problem with converting xmod to a system app with titanium backup
But lucky patcher worked like a charm

I don't see any option to convert the app in there. It just browses the files.
I've tried copying it manually to both /System/Priv-App/ and /System/App but at no success.
If I can get Textra to install as a system-app it will allow MMS of Wi-Fi on TMO roms.
Is there a way to Deodex the APK itself?

Check again
See attached photo
Long press on the app you want to convert and you will see the option "move to system/app"
And since it is not a system app it is already deodexed
Only apps in system/app or system/priv-app are odedex in stock roms

Turned out I was using the wrong patcher.
I downloaded the correct APK, and it worked perfectly.
Thank you!
