Didn't see anyone mention this so I though I would just throw it on here. (sorry if someone already mentioned it)
You can access Gear 2's Recovery/Download mode the same way you could on the original Gear:
-Hold the "Power Button" until the unit reboots and you see the orange "Rebooting..." text then press the "Power Button" 5 (ish) times and
you will be taken to the a menu where you can select "Continue/Download/Recovery/etc" just like the old Gear.
Hopefully this means we can eventually install custom recovery and roms on this thing!
No one mentioned it because it's the same as the gear 1. If you Google galaxy gear download mode or flash custom image or look at the gear 1 forums it's there

Ok I dont know if I am doing something wrong, but I have tried this and still cannot get download mode....I get into the reboot menu, I highlight download, but it still boots normal. Is there a special download screen like on the android devices or does it just go to the clock face?

don't go into the reboot menu, but keep holding the power button until it reboots and then press the power button 5 times.

I also had this problem, no matter how many times I chose download mode, the watch would always boot normally.
Very frustrating as I was trying to get into download mode for about 3 damn hours!.
OK very simple step that for some reason no ones seems to have mentioned, once you have gotten into the reboot menu, select download mode, on my gear 2 its highlighted blue, then simply press and hold the home key once again, and voila download mode should come up.
Cheers Alan

I can't get my gear 2 neo to reboot at all. It stay's in rebooting mode. Then the gear 2 sign shows up. Then screen goes black. If i push again it goes to rebooting. And we start all again. I had to go to factory reset to pair with s7 edge and all this crap started. samsung won't do anything. Does anyone know of how i can connect to computer? As gears doesn't reconize the watch. Or if there's a patch, something to help me get it functioning again. Got the latest gears manager app. Even tried to pair back with s5. But nothing. Both phones, and computer won't do anything. Samsung told me that the gear 2 neo was compatable with s7 edge.
on my gear 2 i am stuck on download ... Do not turn off target! , after pressing power button is switching off and again the same message, please can someone help

Im following this here:
http://www.techzek.com/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s-blaze-4g-sgh-t769-smartphone/
But the power, vol up and down get it to show the yellow "warning" thing that im supposed to see, but it goes away after like half a second so I cant get into it. What else can I do?
how to get to download mode.
As you press the volume +/- and power button , simultaneously plug the micro usb cable into your phone (this cable should already be attached to your pc). This should do the trick.
Happy rooting.
The instructions in the first post are wrong, and should be updated. You have to have the cable plugged in. In the video for example, he has the phone plugged in the entire time. You're not required to have three hands in order to get it done.
I've had no luck with any of the variations on this method either.
Turn your phone off, hold both volume buttons and with your usb plugged into the computer take the other end and plug it into your phone while continuously holding the volume buttons. It will boot into the caution screen and than you press up to get into download mode.

If none of the above still don't work try this
1. Turn off phone
2. Remove battery
3. Remove sim card
4. Remove SD card
5. Plug in USB from computer
6. Hold volume up + volume down
7. While still holding the volumes insert battery
8. Should now be in download mode

Thank you both for the replies. I've tried both methods several times without success. I'm tired now so I'll quit for the night. I'll try again tomorrow a few more times. If I can't get it to work I'll take it as a sign that I'm not meant to root this phone. I must have tried 30 times today; it gets old.
Update:
I've tried this ten or fifteen more times. I'm finding that the yellow warning message, whatever it is, doesn't appear at all, ever, unless the USB cable is not connected when I put the battery in. If the USB is connected, I get the gray battery icon every time, no matter what else I do.
If I do connect the USB, with the battery out, I immediately feel the device vibrating every second or so, as if reboooting.
I tried removing the SIM and SD cards again. This had no effect.
It's very strange. In that video the entire process looks about as easy as doing a simple battery pull. It's just not working for me. Is it possible that Samsung made some of these phones "root-proof"?
Worst case scenario you will have to buy a Samsung jig.

I had to do it a few times myself.... It did not catch for me the first 3-4 times...
Then it worked. Make sure you are holding down all 3 buttons down tight.

I think I've tried it at least 50 times now, with variations, and it's just not happening. I freely admit my ineptness, but holding down buttons is something even I can manage.
By "three buttons", I take it you mean two. I don't have separate volume up/down buttons on my Blaze; just a single rocker button. That's what you mean, right?
I did get as far as the warning screen, but from that screen there is no option for pressing up to go into download mode, so it seems that my warning screen is different from others'.
I guess the next thing is to research "Samsung jig" and figure out whether this is something I can possibly do.
I went through the same thing, I too thought I had to purchase a jig but the method I posted thanks to another member saved me, try again with a modification to step 6

Thank you. I just tried it a couple of times, without success. I have to go out now, but I'll give it another few tries later.
If I have to get a jig, should the Samsung Galaxy S be compatible? I'd think so, but I don't know for sure.
This is a slight variation of what everyone is suggesting...I was also getting vibrations when trying other methods.
Turn off phone
Unplug battery
hold volume rocker, make sure you're holding down both up and down
Insert battery
Hold power button until the warning comes up...only takes a few seconds
I said three buttons, because it seemed (at least to me) that you need to hold sides of the volume button down at the same time. It does not seem to be just a up/down button.

Thanks for this suggestion, but it also didn't work.
This method, like some of the others, takes me into what I think is Recovery Mode. I'm not sure, because I don't really know what I'm doing. The message that flashes on the screen isn't really a warning. Doing it this way, i.e., releasing the power button but not the volume button after the phone starts, takes me to a screen that says,
Android system recovery <3e>
at the top. Then there are some options: reboot system now, apply update from sdcard, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache partititon. I can use the volume button to select an option, and the "OK Key", whatever that is, to select.
Near the bottom of the screen, in yellow, is the text that I couldn't read before:
-- Verifying internal MMC block...
checksum confirmation -> check(0)
Not need checksum confirmation
already executed!!...
# MANUAL MODE #
And that's it. In the background of this screen, grayed out, there's a white triangle with a yellow exclamation mark in it and a little green android.
Is there a way to get from this screen to Download Mode?

I guess it might if I could get ADB to work. So far, no luck; but that's a whole different problem. There are pages upon pages of posts here from people having difficulties getting ADB to work, so it'll take days or weeks to sift through all that and figure out what I'm doing wrong.
I thought the actual rooting process would be fairly simple, and it would only get complicated when trying to install custom ROMS and that sort of thing, which I'm not trying to do. It appears that I was wrong. I think I just don't have the knowledge to do this.

So I should have debugging mode and Kies Air turned on, and then ADB should be able to find the Blaze? I'll try it tomorrow.

I was flashing new nougat king's rom for the s7 edge, however I forgot to untick autoreboot, and ofc, I got phone stuck in a bootloop....
I tried plugging it in, but PC doesn't recognize it at all, nothing like I didn't plug anything in, and OFC it doesn't show up in odin, that is the main problem.
Also I tried to force restart and enter recovery or download mode, nothing is possible, I restart with power+vol down, and when I switch buttons to power+home+ vol up (or down depends what I try to enter) nothing happens. I thought my timing may be a bit off, but I even used a stopwatch to know when it will restart and switch to another combination faster. I tried that many many times.... I saw somebody succeed here, but not me, should I let go of all buttons before pressing another combination? (I tried both anyways, but I am gonna keep trying)
Also my previous rom was note 7 rom, and I got a note saying that they will disable charging of my phone for last few days. I don't know how they are doing it, over OTA update or what?
Phone is Always on now showing "Samsung Galaxy s7 edge powered by android" i can only restart it, I don't know if I should let battery drain and phone turn off, because if I could turn it off, I am sure I would be able to enter recovery or download mode, but I don't know if it will charge when battery is empty, because of that "update" samsung is trying to push to note 7 phones.
Sry for the length, but I stated most things this way, pls help, thanks!!!!
OFC I forgot something, when I plug it in the wall, I don't think it is charging, no led light showing that it is

Forced close mode
Vol up and Vol down and Power
Then use Samsung Jig to force Download mode
In a corporate environment and got a galaxy s6 back from a user.
I was able to log into it fine, removed all accounts present and then selected Factory reset.
It then booted and hung at the Samsung splash screen. I held vol up/down/power and got the maintenance menu.
If I choose boot normally, safe or reset it would do the same thing, hang at Samsung splash and get crazy hot.
If I select power down, it would "turn off" but the blue led would stay stuck on. If I plugged the power back in it would show the battery charge icon but never update, even if I unplug it that pic would stay on.
So I let it die over the weekend and that's exactly what it's done. I've plugged it back in, no charging icon or LEDs after being plugged in for an hour so no idea what to do with this thing.

Unfortunately I cannot get any response from the phone. Plugging USB in doesnt show any icons or LEDs that its charging. Holding all kinds of button combinations doesnt do anything either.
I put it on a wireless charger and the charger LED goes green as if its charging it yet it doesnt warm up or show any responses on the phone itself.
I do have an extra S6 so not sure if its worth trying to open and swap the battery and see what happens but I dont have a suction cup to get that screen off.

Yea, I held em for a minute, nothing. And as mentioned I cant get any response to trying to charge it either.
However it was working perfectly fine prior to trying to factory reset it.
It was from a user that had quit. i was able to power it on and reset the unlock pin through our MDM console, got in, looked around, deleted google account, hit reset and that was the end of it.
Hi folks. I've got a problem that I don't see anything quite matching in here. I have a Straight Talk/Verizon GS7. Last night I installed an app do to USB tethering on it. It worked great for the testing. After I disconnected and it sat idle for a while, I heard a notification sound and the blue light started flashing. I push the home key and the "back" and "window" key lit up, but the screen is black.
So here's what I've tried so far.
I tried to hold the power button to turn the phone off. Nothing.
I can soft reset by holding volume down and power. I get the splash screens for GS7, Samsung and TracFone. Then BSOD.
I can't get safe mode. I can't get recovery mode.
I can get to download mode. "Volume down, home, power"
The phone has developer tools turned on and USB debugging is enabled. Is there a way to do anything helpful from download mode? I'm not too concerned about losing data, so flashing a new ROM is fine by me.

hi
Seem like flashing a new firmware may be the reasonable option...
Try flashing first with home_csc if you know what your CSC is at the moment..that way you may avoid losing your data
if that option is off the table...then use CSC and flash/ format your phone...

Please help me! I own a galaxy s6 (international model, official, not rooted) which is stuck in a boot loop from hell. The led is white (not the usual "boot-up blue") and won't change colour or even turn off. It was the last straw a few hours ago when it randomly restarted, got stuck halfway through the Samsung logo and started making the loudest noise I've ever heard it produce. It was NOT a vibration. Ever since then, it has just been stuck and keeps restarting. When it does get past the "Samsung Galaxy S6" screen it just says 'no command' with the android lying on its back. I'm at a complete and utter loss. It's actually done this a few times this week, but I've always been able to at least boot it into safe mode and uninstall snapchat - which I think is the cause of all this. I can't power off the device, and even when the battery drains completely, the same 'no command' screen appears as soon as it's plugged in. I can't boot it in recovery mode as I can't get it to switch off. I think it may be battery related or even motherboard related. I can't even seem to bypass the 'no command screen. It's just sitting on my floor, charging, overheating and looking all smug. Frankly, I'm pretty damn close to hurling it out of my window.
Also, does anyone know WHY the led is sometimes white or yellow during a boot loop on newer Samsung Phones?
