I don't know if we're allowed to post modding related stuff in this forum, but if not, please, a moderator tell me and i will remove this thread IMMEDIATELY!
But to the topic - has anyone on XE tried the modded google play that you can get with lucky patcher? 'Cause I don't want to run into any problems (as the app mentions it may cause a soft brick).
And give me instructions if anyone has done this.
Again, I don't know if we're allowed to post modding related stuff in this forum, but if not, please, a moderator tell me and i will remove this thread IMMEDIATELY!

I don't think you are allowed to talk about Lucky Patcher on this Site!
You aren't. You can remove the license verification of paid apps with Lucky Patcher, so it's not allowed on XDA to talk about anything related to it.

Hey.
I'm new to posting here, however found it more than necessary to begin my journey to be a frequent poster to the forum .
Hello.
However it seems that to do this i would like to ask inside a developers forum how to solve an issue with my current mobile device.
Is there a way i can gain access? Ask a Mod?
Or do i just wait.
My device is unusable at this stage and help is really needed.
Thread im trying to post into; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399&page=216
Thanks.
EDIT:
I now have access, i guess i am inpatient
you have to post 10 times in general fourms and be approved to post by mods in developer fourms. That keeps newbees from clogging up the important forms.
thanks i was wondering how to post there too,i need to ask some things about void rom there
Besides if your just asking questions you shouldn't be posting in development threads anyway.

I wish there was an easier way. I have legitimate posts to add to some Developer threads. I'm always trying new things for ROM's, since there's nothing else to do while I wait for the Prime and Vigor to be released...

Hey,

I'm in the office now, maybe someone else in our company has an account too ( multi user problem? )
Sorry, my english is not the best...
Thanks and noobish greetings.

hey all, just joined the forum, been lurking for a while, trying to learn about the whole rooting process. i am still not 100% confident on the whole thing, but i am thinking about giving it a shot.
have had a few smart phones, all from t-mobile except for this last one, which is a samsung galaxy s3 from verizon, running android 4.1.2. i have watched a bunch of videos, and read a bunch of threads, but want to make sure i don't turn my phone into a brick by doing this, so i am asking here now.
if i follow the instructions in the video by officialphonerebel for the SCH-I535 will that give me root access? i tried to post a link to the video but since i am a new member the site won't allow me to do that. what else do i need to do in order to delete all the bloatware that comes pre-installed? do i need to unlock the bootloader? or will the process described in the video do that already?
thanks in advance from a dumb union plumber and pipe welder...

1.Does the video show you how to root from 4.1.2 jelly bean?
2. Yes you need to unlock the bootloader in order to flash anything.
3. Most custom ROMs have bloatware removed.
4. The only way to brick your phone is by flashing something meant for another device.
5. Kenny is a moderator so he doesn't really have to help you just moderate the forums which he did.

Kenny moves threads once they are reported so don't go subtly suggesting anything.

Thank you for the info. The video I watched said 4.1.2/4.1.1., so I am not sure if they require the same procedure or not.
So after I root the phone, I need to flash a custom ROM? I can't just run an unlocked stock version of 4.1.2?
Understood about the bricking, I will pay attention and read what I am flashing first to make sure it is for my device
This forum must run differently than other forums. I am a supermod over on a motorcycle racing website, and we need to be knowledgable about what we are moderating, and give advice and help the members, not just moderate.

I wasn't subtly suggesting anything. I think I was pretty straightfoward saying that in addition to moving my thread he could have helped me answer my questions.
Follow the instructions in below post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35418324
This will give you rooted stock rom.
Thanks doesn't hurt....

follow the directions in this thread >>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2046439 and you will be rooted with an unlocked botloader and ready to flash.
from there you you can stay stock rooted and remove apps yourself. alot of people like titanium back up for that. or you can flash a touchwiz/samsung based ROM that has most if not all of the bloatware removed and allows to add what you want thru the installer at setup. you can find these ROMs in android development. or you can flash an AOSP (android open source project) ROM that is based off "pure google" with developer mods and preferences included. you can find these ROMs in original android development.
backup your phone. i use nandroid and nandroid manager but there are others that may work better for you. only flash stuff for vzw. have fun.

Be careful! Moderators do not have knowledge of every device. We are here to moderate based on forum rules. Learn to read the rules and how to search. Moderators are volunteers responsible for over 35 device forums and are not here to do the searching for you.
Your attitude will get you less and less people wanting to help you. XDA is NOT a support site. It is a Development site.

be careful of what?
and now i understand that this forum is different than the others i frequent. like i said, i am a supermod (voluntarily as well) on another site, and on that site, all of our mods, supermods, and admins need to be familiar with all aspects of what they are moderating, so i assumed (incorrectly apparently) that this site was run the same. my apologies for that.
my attitude? i thought it was rude of you to just moderate the thread, and not even let me know whether or not you could help or not. it was fine to tell me you moved the thread, and it was my fault for posting it in the wrong section, but all you had to say was "hey listen, i don't know much about your device, but you posted it in the wrong section, so i moved it for you." and everything would have been fine.
i read tons of "support" threads on this site, and was not aware that it was for developers only, again, my apologies. can you direct me to a site that is for support please?
for those of you that helped, i thank you.

Thread closed, I will assume you feel it necessary to vent your frustrations, but again, your above post does nothing towards the contribution and/or furthering of development.
One of the main rules of XDA is to read and follow the posting rules prior to posting. Nowhere in these rules is there a requirement for, or of, a moderator to answer your questions just because you asked one. We act on reported posts from users that violate XDA posting rules, and yours did.
If you are a moderator elsewhere, you should be familiar with the codes and standards that it takes to moderate. Firing back and getting the last word in to moderators here is not a classy or nice thing, might be on the site you volunteer on, but not here.
Now, KennyGlass123 may unlock so that you can reply to him. Or, you could have used the PM system to express your dissatisfaction of things. But you did not, hence, me locking this thread.
Have a good weekend.

Ok, maybe I've posted on the wrong section, but regarding the device, there isn't a Pocket 2 forum section here, so I posted on the most similar I've found. Is that really a good reason to make a report?
I read the rules once, but it was a long time ago and I don't remember where it says "report a user when he posts a thread of the device X on device Y section if the device X section doesn't exist".
Anyway, thanks for reporting me and I still need help and about this thread, I will wait the moderators tell me if I am wrong or not.
If I am wrong, I hope they point me where to post the thread (or move this one).

I don't want to be mean but posting a question on the development selection is not allowed.
Anyway, I make a research and there is no way to root your device (yet!!!).
You can try Kingo root

Like I said, I guess I've made a mistake by creating on this section, but I think I can't delete a thread (can I?).
About "a way to root", I don't know any yet, but I'm hoping there is, that's why I've created a thread (after a lot of searching).
First of all, thanks for moving the thread.
I still need help. Does anyone knows a way to root this device?
Hiii, I am on CM12 latest build. I received a 21.6MB OTA update recently to fix touch screen and other issues but I am not able to flash it. It shows error every time I do it.
Please can anyone help me in that, will be appreciated.
Thank you

Forum rules do apply, but telling someone to search is seen as moderating other members, which is not the place of anyone except the moderation team.
