GLtools - Play Games At MUCH better framerates - Galaxy Tab 3 General

Gltools (which is similar to chainfire 3d but works on jellybean)

NOTE: DOESNT WORK ON X86 CPUS. TESTED ON TAB 3 7"
it helps in lowering graphics and emulating other gpus so that a game which is tegra exclusive works on all phones
is a must have app on our phone for gaming
i tried lowering graphics using gtools3 on a few games and it is much better now
touch is completely responsive ingame (ie no lags when changing the view) and so on
first download free version(limited features) from google play
or the xda version(all features unlocked) provided by the dev frm this thread

(Im using gta 3 as an eg to show how this works)
install gltools
(Note: Enable backup option in the app in case something goes wrong. a cwm flashable zip which can uninstall gltools will be formed)
open app. then give root access and install tex plugin(and not 'none' otherwise this app wont work)
reboot the phone
open app. a list of apps installed will come up
select ur app(gta 3 for me)
check on enable custom setting
tick force 16 bit rendering
tick optimize glsl shaders(some times
set enable texture decomp. to all (for better grfx or none for lower grfx - very little effect seen)
set enable texture recomp. to none
set downscale textures to 0.5 if it lags and check if it still lags make 0.25x(anything below that will make text unreadable)(this will reduce grfx significantly)
i also faked gpu info though it may not be needed (i did adreno 320 , sometimes tegra 2 is best)
please share ur own config for any game u manage to make smooth

Hey bro yesterday i completed the game Amazing spiderman
there are some graphican glitches but tht is the game problem not the prob of tab
I think u shud dload the game again
BTW nice work fixing the kernel in 4.2.2 (how did the idea strike?? very nice idea it was)

Unreal engine based games
I hope this is the right thread to ask this question.
Have you guys succeeded in running any Unreal engine based games using GLTools on the SM-T211? The only game which work that I've personally tested myself is Wild Blood. All other Unreal engine based games just FC. Wild Blood also FC without GLTools, but with Mali-400MP emulation it works quite well. This tab really sucks when it comes to Unreal based games. Whenever I see the logo, I'm pretty sure 99.99% that game won't work . If you guys have any tip on how to get Unreal engine based games to run on this tab, please share. Thanks.

try the newer gltools (link also in my signature)
as for the faking u shud try tegra powervr and adreno too

Thanks. I haven't got the time to test the latest GLTools, but with the one I'm using right now, I've tried all the available templates and none of them work for Unreal engine based games . I'll try the latest one later.
Btw, how can I find out the version of GLTools I have installed? I don't see an "About" page anywhere

yeah the vegan tab 5.1.1 which enabled open gl to work properly enabled us to play all of the 3d intensive games.
I still cant get gunbros to work though.

How to run 'STAR FRONT COLLISION HD' (GAMELOFT) on your X10

I personally tried everything to get this great game to run well on my X10, and finally.....success!
I have tried it on all know available ROMS,and have found that it only really works with WOLFBREAK's CM 6.1.3 V006 ROM. Find it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945264 . Starfront will install and run quite well on this ROM with 'stock kernel' but it will lag, and the game will randomly exit which is very annoying unless you save your progress every 30seconds! It kills the experience of the game.....so I tried with custom kernel 'FreeXperia Kernel-006 / beta6 by jerpelea' and the game now runs flawlessly, I haven't encountered any problems with Starfront running on this ROM and kernel combination. So if you want to play this game, but don't want to run that setup....stop reading now and give up on Starfront, but I warn you...YOU ARE MISSING OUT! It is simply gorgeous, I can't recommend it enough. Online multiplayer works great too. If you do want to play on your X10,keep reading.....
To run jerpelea's kernel-006, you will need to be on Baseband 52, download here http://www.mediafire.com/?a4t6h1t6357xzl6
You will however need to install this patch View attachment cm6bb52to54patch.zip to run WOLF's ROM on Baseband 52. If you are not confident flashing the baseband and patch, please refer to the development forum http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=617&order=desc&page=3
Starfront appears to need the CPU overclocked (using the custom kernel) to run smoothly. Therefore I am using this tool (free from Android Market) View attachment 587785 .Before you start playing Starfront, you need to use CPU master and set CPU scaling to 'performance', this will overclock the CPU to 1113.6 MHz. I guarantee that Starfront will exit during play if you do not take this step. You can change CPU scaling back to ondemand after playing if you need to.
When the above is complete, you can purchase 'Starfront Collision HD' from the Gameloft website http://www.gameloft.com/smartphone-games/starfront-collision-hd/ and you MUST download the 'HTC Desire Bravo' version.
You will then need to download the game files via your X10, this will only work with a wifi connection.

Please research the positive and negatives of using custom kernels,you may lose features that you want to keep. You can switch between kernels of course.
My bb version is 2.1.54, cm6 wolfbreak rom. That mean I need to flash .52 baseband first right? Then do I need reflash cm6 rom?

Yes you will need bb52 to use kernel 006, you can just flash bb52 over yours but then you will need to flash the 52to54 patch afterwards,or you will have no network signal. No need to reflash cm6 rom.

Haha,yeah it is a bit of work.....but I was determined to play this game and I'm so happy that it's running so well,I'm addicted!
Nice game,but always exit the game itself when loading mission3,so cant finish the whole story.
But fighting with AI is okay,tye first 3lv is easy,but for pro level is just hard,still trying to win....

It won't exit if you follow my tips, depends how much you want to play I guess..... for me it was definitely worth it.....
Working flawlessly on TRIPnMIUI froyo without custom kernel and with little or no lag at all. (only lags a little on REALLY crowdy situations and that is ONLY a little).
No force closes at all and have played for 3 hours non-stop

Yeah, you need a really fast ROM to be able to play this game, but on mine it runs fine, sometimes lags when making new chunks but after next beta, adding persistent world, and hardware keys support, it will run smooth...!

I talked with devs about that issue as it would enable us not to using touchscreen in tilt mode as it lowers fps on older devices, and they said they will probably implement that just need to finish some major things first...

Try downloading file with you PC and then put it in you phone. What is the problem, if it is .apk, then your phone should run it if you click on it...?

How to run NOVA 3 with all Visual Effects (depth of field, etc) on Note.

Hello guys!
I decided to make a new video showing all the missing visual effects for NOVA 3 on the NOTE.
It runs now like it does on the iPad 2 unlike the normal ipad 3 and phone versions which were missing those effects.
NOVA3 with all Visual Effects
In order to run with all the FX just install Chainfire 3D. I am using the Pro version because it lets me select settings per application.

I just click on the Application then select Per-app OpenGL settings.
Then look for NOVA 3 and click on it then just uncheck the "Use default settings" option.
That is all I did. Then I clicked Launch and I got all special effects.

The extra effects make the intro run a bit laggy but the actual game looks pretty smooth. I still think it looks smoother without the effects but is still smooth enough to play with the effects. You can compare the two videos on my channel.

Oh okay, much smoother than mine! But how about other games? Does the chainfire 3D drivers affect them anything without setting any per app settings?
The smoother one is actually with NO chainfire jus to clarify but even with 3D fire and the added effects it looks pretty smooth I think.
I have not tried any others but I will sure start digging about this because its is VERY interesting to say the least.
Try overclocking your GPU to 400MHz and bump up the voltage to 1050mV. You might find it will run smoothly then even with all effects on.

I am running 1.6Ghz and 400Mhz as per my fiery sig lol. Like I said, the game still looks smooth just not as smooth as without the effects,which of course is to be expected.
Mostly then INTRO is the one that seems to lag more as the actual game play looks almost the same to my eyes so , I can live with that but I wonder how can we hack the game to show the effects without chainfire. There has to be away for sure.

On markphyton's Xperia Z ICS, I get around 15-20 FPS.
ART is Android Run Time, on KK, you can use it instead of Dalvik.
am on MIUI v4 ICS 3.2.22 ..Turbo Kernel 3.1.1 .. and it runs perfectly fine for me.. unless someone can teach me how to calculate FPS.
and am on the screen where he sits in the car.. when I rotate using my finger to look left right out of car windows.. its pretty responsive..
am on 1.2 Ghz.. with Swapfile 256MB.

I wonder why it works on ics, I've installled it on my tablet (whose specs are far worse than that of my xperia play) running gb and it's working too
Edit: has anyone tried using chainfire on gb? Maybe disabling MapBuffer and unrolling texture colors can help a bit

This was exactly what I experienced. I am on stock 2.3.4 Android, no root. Strange that I was even able to install the game as I later read on Play Store that it requires a higher version of Android? WTF. Of course I uninstalled as I strongly doubt that they will ever fix it to be playable on Xperia Play.

Seems like that, at least on our device (I've got a galaxy tab which is running 2.3.6 and can handle the game with some lags).
btw even on ics I've never been able to pass the 1st chapter (it crashes on certain points of the gane)

It probably is a very crude version pre-maturely released. Here's to hoping they'll fix it in a future update.

It's not a "crude" version, it's just not meant to run on single core phones from 2011.
That's why I said "Here's to hoping they'll fix it in a future update." -_-
I got the game play when using the GLTOOLS from XDA. Only the problem is there to much missing graphics and so much black.
This game needs resources that the Xperia Play not have. I recommend you play this game in PC (Already in Season 2 ), if you no have another high-mid end device.
Single core or not, when I was using the rom ultimate hd v6 was running without lags or FCs(clock 1,2ghz)
