I am looking to upgrade my Ion LT28AT to the CM10 for locked bootloaders and am kind of leery since I only recently rooted it and don't really need a brick. I am open to any advice and of course help with this. I did check out the thread that lists the downloads themselves but I don't know how to go about flashing them to my phone.

So I have the ATT HOX and have it rooted. I have NOT upgraded to the 1.85 OTA update. I was interested in putting CleanRom on it but Im a little lost as to what I need to do exactly. I keep reading of downgrading software which Id assume I dont have to do. But where to I go to unlock bootloaders and get customer recovery. Theres not a one stop shop in the dev section to know exactly what your looking for. Any help (mainly with correct links and or programs) would be appreciated.

Hey guys and gals! My att one x is on the way. I trying to find out as much as i can, before it arrives, for development and custom rom usage on the new device.
I have been out of the forums since i sold my att note.
I know this is alot to ask for some, but...
Can someone please lead me in the right direction for rooting, recovery (cwm if possible), and rom.
My goal is to use a net 10 sim and unlimited plan with this device. This might/would require a carrier unlock code? I can get the code if i need it but id really just appreciate someone summing up these basic questions with basic links or knowledge of the processes. I feel my contributions to our xda forums warrant these inquiries.

What he said. Also i suggest twrp over CWM. It is touch based, plus it works with plenty of roms. You do want to make sure you are on a version where your phone can be rooted.

Is this an AT&T phone, as I suspect from your post? If so, I hope you can still return it.
There is no root method for AT&T One XL phones on 3.18, and there may not be one for months if ever.

This is very true. If the device is from AT&T and has the 3.18 Jellybean firmware, its can't be rooted. Although its possible there is some old stock at some stores with older firmwares. Anything but 3.18 can be rooted. I think someone posted on here just a couple weeks ago about getting a new phone from an AT&T store that had 1.73 (the version from when the phone was released!).
OP should check the firmware version in Settings, and go from there.

I need help with rooting my HTC one xl. I have already unlocked the bootloader but cannot find any info on what to do next for my version of firmware. Because of the warnings I keep reading in the threads in regards to bricking the phone if you use the wrong software/directions I am a bit reluctant to try without some expert advice. My device is running on android 4.2.2 and firmware version is 5.08.841.3. Any help would be appreciated.
My rooted phone will not let me into my playstore, i think this could be do to rooting and then doing the android update, or maybe the freedom app i downloaded at one time. It also says I lost root. Anyways I was stupid and thought I new what I was doing and think I may have really screwed up my phone. Will flashing stock firmware fix this? think i have looked through the threads already and I think I have a good handle on this whole flashing stock firmware. My question is if I give you guys my build number/ phone info can you tell me what exact firmware I need to revert to stock? Build# VRUFNK4 for a SCHi545 samsung galaxy S4 G. Let me know please. Want to confirm if I can install CM13 nightly. Everything I read indicates I need to root and update recovery and all that good stuff but it is not possible on 4.4.2
Just want to confirm if anything has changed in the past year with a new process. Forums have a lot of old guides so I would appreciate a quick yes or no. if yes, any link to a stable procedure would really be appreciated.

No it currently cannot run CM13 or any version of CM. Only via safestrap with the 3 options stock, Paul pizz and Superlite

As @ShapesBlue says, if you took the OTA to 4.2.2 then you are locked. HOWEVER, there is a method developed by the typical enterprising XDA member that "Downgrades" the firmware by flashing part of the boot loader/firmware but leaves the crucial bit intact that doesn't brick the phone. Sort of a hybrid firmware flash. I believe it's supposed to open the phone up to flashing TWRP and non-stock custom ROMs. I know someone who used it and it worked on CM12.1 last year, but he also had some trouble after awhile (don't know if that was related to this procedure or not) and made an error later that bricked his phone, permanently it seems.
What isn't mentioned in that OP, at least the last time I looked, was that after doing this procedure, if you flash the firmware recommended in the CM12 and CM13 thread OP's, you will overwrite the partition that is spared in his zip file. Then you will be dead! He does explain exactly what partitions are flashed by telling you how to make the zip file. The updater-script I expect is not touched. Looking at it or in the other files you'll need to do this process will show you what's written where, but they have the partitions names. You can go into the CM12.1 thread OP on XDA for our phone and by clicking on the "d2vzw ROM Extras" link you can find all kinds of stuff, plus a few different partition tables that tell you how your phone is setup. There is other info in the OP itself about this and other topics related to flashing CM as well. (I'm the OP )
WARNING! Don't go into this haphazardly though. I would read through that thread thoroughly and see what if any success people are reporting, and ask questions. You don't want to ruin your phone!
