[Bug] Problems with .ts files: seeking, playback (HD only) - MX Player

Hi,
I use MX Player and it's a very good product. I like it very much, it's very convenient but I have a little problem.
I have a satellite receiver which records movies in .ts files. I can read them with MX Player but when I use << and >> keys, the result is erratic. In the parameters, I've chosen to skip back 7 seconds and for example when I press "Skip back", it skips 30 seconds forward. If I maintain the pressure on the << and >> keys, it's also erratic. It works well with .avi files and .wmv files.
I could convert .ts files in .avi files but it's very long, it takes several hours to convert some files.
Is it possible MX Player run .ts files as other files?
Thank you .
Jean-Louis

Actually MX uses key frames rather than exact time frame for fast seeking.
You can disable it from Settings》Player 》 Fast Seek.
Additionaly for better navigation you can adjust the speed of swipe & forward button from Settings 》 Player 》 Navigation
Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk

Thank you for your response .
I've already adjusted the speed of previous and forward button in "Settings 》 Player 》 Navigation", that's why it skips 7 seconds previously or forward when I press the << and >> keys. It's very convenient.
I've disabled key frames for fast seeking in "Settings》Player 》 Fast Seek" but it's the same thing, the result is erratic .

Hi,
There is no solution for this problem please?
Thank you for your help.

Remux to mkv and try again & report here.
Note:
Remux won't take much time since there is no encoding.

Ok, can you say me which application to use? I've tried tsMuxeR to convert it in M2TS but it was not efficient on the Galaxy S2 even if it is on my TV. However, it's a little complex because I have to copy all the movies from my satellite recorder to the PC, convert them and copy them on the smartphone. I would prefer to copy them directly on the smartphone, it's more convenient and quicker .
On another thread, I have posted I have problems with HD .ts files, I lost sound or the image jams. I can't see them. I've tried HW and SW modes with no effect even if I don't know what these modes mean.
I haven't any problem with BSPlayer but it's not as convenient as MXPlayer.
Thank you .

@sjlouis
I have tried myself with two videos with different codecs ( mpeg2 / AVC-h264) in ts, m2ts & mkv containers. But, I can't reproduce any problems. I think it's device/android specific.
Can you provide the following details?
Device ?
Android Version ?
Rom whether stock or custom?
MX Player version?
Detailed media info?
Can you attach a detailed logcat which can be collected using mx log collctor immediately after closing Player/Video?
Sent from my Galaxy S5 using Tapatalk

Device ? Samsung Galaxy S2
Android Version ? 4.1.2
Rom whether stock or custom? Samsung version modified with kernel : 3.0.31 - Jeboo_Kernel_v1.2a+
MX Player version? 1.7.26
Detailed media info? If I press on the file, I have the name, the size, the date of the copy... but nothing technical. If I list the files with Windows 7, the type is "Video MPEG-2 TS". There are created by an Enigma box, OpenPli 4.0. I don't know if that can help you.
Can you attach a detailed logcat which can be collected using mx log collctor immediately after closing Player/Video?
I've seen there is an application whose name is "MX Log Collector". Ok I can download it but is it difficult to obtain the logcat?
I can try to read these files on my wife's phone. Do you want?
Thank you .

I've tried with the Samsung ACE 3, Android 4.2.2, rom stock Samsung, kernel 3.4.0-2575110 and there are the same problems.

@sjlouis
Simple way is Just run the mx log collctor immediately after closing the player.
If you are rooted then lot of apps available in the play store which can collect the logs in background.
Sent from my Galaxy S5 using Tapatalk

Run MX Log Collector immediately after reproducing the playback issue with HD .ts files, and post the logs here.

Ok I'll trying to use the Log Collector. I don't know if I will use it immediately because I'm a little busy these days, but I'll do it .
I can go backward and forward with these files with VLC on my Windows PC. I can't use them on my TV Samsung even if it's a "very good" TV and not too old (2 years), but I can use them on the less "good" TVs of my family (one is a very "poor" TV). I've joined Samsung support but they don't say me anything interesting.
But I don't try to read HD files.
First I'm going to use the Log Collector but I can send you files. I don't know if there is a solution to use Internet for so big files, but I can copy them on a DVD disc and send it to you by post.
Thank you .

Hi,
I've loaded MX Log Collector but what do I do? Do I read a movie a few seconds, I stop it and I lauch the Log Colector? Or do I read the movie, I try to go forward and backward?
At the end, MX Log Collector wants to send a mail. Do I copy the mail and the joined files in this post?
Thank you .

Open MX Player & reproduce the problem. Then immediately open mx log collector. better to save it in mail & download it.
Alternatively,
when it ask to select the app to share select an email client like gmail and minimize
Open /sdcard/android/data/com.mxtech.logcollector
Here you you can find the log.txt.gz
Copy it to a desired location & upload here

Hi,
Sorry, I was a little busy .
Ok, I've done what you said. On the first test (files xxx1), when I press the << key, it doesn't jump backward 7 seconds as I defined it in the parameters, but it jumps forward 30 to 60 seconds every time. I've not done the test in this files but it also jumps ~60 seconds forward when I press >> key even if I also defined 7 seconds in the parameters.
In the second test (files xxx2), I read an HD file and I lots the sound for a few seconds and it does it regularly. On preceding test, I also lost the picture but it's not the case in this test. If you want I can do an other record to show it (I don't use normally HD record, the files are too big but some TV channels haven't SD movies).
In the mails created by the Log Collector, I have :

If you have difficulties to read the French words, I can try to translate them.
The 2 build files are in the .7z file because I can't upload them.
I've just bought an USB OTG cable and now I can use an USB key I can load on my satellite box. It's very convenient and it would be better when I could read normally .ts files.
Thank you very much for your help .

@bleu8888 please take a look at the logs.

Would you send me a sample video clip?
This should work with fast seek disabled.
But this feature may not work if exact seeking takes too long time (typically 6 seconds).
If time is the problem, i will consider increasing timeout time or add additional option for it.

If we speak about the same thing (I have some difficulties in English), I've already tried it as you can see upper. I use this function when I haven't understood a sentence.
How can I send you these files because it's very big even if I cut them to 15 or 30 minutes?
Thank you very much .

Sorry about that. It is not matter if it can produce this problem.
There are some public services which allows uploading multi-MB files such as Google Drive(http://drive.google.com) or Drop Box (http://www.dropbox.com). After uploading a file on these sites, please post public URL of your file.

RockPlayer: First public beta available

We released first public beta of RockPlayer just several minutes ago.
RockPlayer can play most kinds of video files including avi, mkv, rmvb, flv, mp4, 3gp, wmv, mov, asf, divx, xvid, and h264 formats. This version supports android versions from 1.6 to 2.2. It requires an armv6 or armv7 CPU with vfp instruction set. Sorry G1/Magic/Hero users, your phone's CPU didn't have vfp.
This forum prevented me from posting external links. So please replace # with dot in following links:
Download link: http://groups.google.com/hk/group/rockplayer/files
Official forum: http://www.diffthink.com/forum/
Please also note this is a beta version and would expire on July 15.
Thanks for support.
Thats great news
When I try to adjust the volume it does it for the ringer and not the video MOST the time, but not all the time. I usually have to hit play and pause a bunch and then do the volume to adjust the media volume. Using the motorola droid.
Thanks will go and give it a try

You can only adjust media volume while media is playing. If it's paused there's no volume to adjust.
Loving the beta so far.
Bandwidth exceeded. Is there a mirror?
You can download it here.
Does anybody know if this play .asx files? I want to use it with orb
thanks in advance
The July 15 expiration can be removed! It is not so hard.
Now i patched it for myself.
Does anyone else have issues with playing certain files?
When I try to play MKV files on my N1 (running kang-o-rama 0.8 final) it will not play properly at all. Also, when I try to play FLV files I just get audio, no video.
And eventually I would like to see subtitle support. Yeah I know I'm picky, but I like to watch anime on my phone
opensky2... Congrats on the release. Have you licensed the decoders you are distributing? ie; MP3, AAC, ASP, AVC, etc. I don't see you listed as a licensee on the MPEGLA website for either AVC or ASP. Also... What about links to the FFmpeg source code that you are using?

This product is being provided in good faith as a beta test after the original closed beta was leaked. It looks like it's a great app and a first for android - it's obviously taken time and effort to develop and I'm sure most here would be prepared to pay for the final product.
Please don't put other developers off making the effort to bring cool things to android by abusing the trust the developers are giving us here.
folks..i can't seem to open any files.
tried 4 different avi's. all of them bring the app back to the folder selection screen.
running on cyanogen 5.0.8 android 2.2 on my HTC magic.
i tried uninstalling + reinstalling the player twice as well.
any suggestions?

It won't work on Magic, as it doesn't have any of the required cpus.
Downloaded a house episode, full fps on an unedited avi 320mb video, full screen options dosnt distore screen like the demo version.
great! this is exactly what i've been looking for. im definitely willing to pay.
two areas for potential improvement that i've noticed...
1. i cant access the internal memory on my htc incredible. only sd card.
2. i cant set this as the default video player on my phone. ...this would allow a workaround of #1 by using astro file manager to access my files and open them from there.
the 2nd one is more important to me, personally. i would be accessing my videos on my home server and opening them via astro to play over my network.
other than that, this is awesome!

Hi ajeet,
thanks for the effort, i noticed some bugs on my htc desire (oxygen rom , android 2.3 )
it skipped the first 30 seconds of my video
audio/video wasnt in sync (maybe cause of the skip? )
subs didnt show up
some infos about the video:
video: MPEG4 (H264) 712x480 29,97 fps
audio: AAC 48000Hz stereo
Subtitle: Advanced SubStation Alpha
//edit:
forgot to extract the mplayer subtitle folder ><
subs are working now, even though the progress bar makes it impossible to read them ^^
best regards
Kemo
Great job, I tried an MKV BDRip with MPEG-4 video and AC3 audio. Works flawlessly on my [email protected]
However, in the subtitle there are "á é í ó ő ú ű" letters and instead of these, there are some weird symbols shown. I tried this with SRT and SSA subs saved as UTF-8, but no luck.
Atm, this looks promising, so keep it up.
+1
Edit: please, for heaven's sake, avoid RapidShare. But if you like RS, then use multiupload. Thanks
Option key will hide the statusbar/seekbar
i try avc + aac mp4 (640*360 + 44Khz/128kb) on my milestone eclair
it too slow so not sync and i try the stop the play it crashed
Nice work. I only have flvs on my phone right now, but they play very well. quite responsive too.
Could the controls hide on screen tap as well as menu button?
Also, how mplayer is this? I realize that the frontend is going to be original work, but wonder how much porting you had to do for the player itself.

So due to some bug neon acceleration is not working with this version. I will fix that then you can watch h264 w/o any issue.
screen shots would be cool and if you can get some of the gpu/cpu accelerations combos working on higher end devices like Hummingbird and Powervr.
Very nice it works even on the archos tablet and without any stutering or delays. Keep up the good work.
This is the first non stock media player that works good for general use.

great player, best i've found on the market yet.
It's perfect for my Legend ! the best player for the video quality.
And subtitles work fine. The only "problem" is that I always have the interface at the top and bottom of the video. So, I can't read subtitles.
I tried to open settings but it does't exist.
Great job anyway
The best working video player on my X10. Just one problem I am from Slovenia, any chance for Slovenian, Croatian,,,,letters support.
Thanks
OK, I have tested streaming from an URL (Mpeg-TS-stream - dreambox)
1) on my HTC HD2 running HD Desire: works although there are some delay/lag. Also problems with syncronization of video/audio
2) on my Samsung i5800: I get pictures and then it pauses for 2-3 seconds and I get new frames and then it stops again and so on. Audio works without breaking. Perhaps its processor is not fast enough to handle a stream with a ratio of 1:1?
3) the preferences button seems disabled.
I look forward to next releases.

Streaming from an URL means playing (therefore sending) a file (be it video, music...) over the net on a remote device.

[APP][4.0+] MP4 Video Repair

Has your phone battery ever died during video recording and you ended up with the unplayable file?
If so, Video Repair is for your!
Video Repair allows easy recovery of corrupted MP4 files recorded with Android devices. At the moment it supports H264, AAC and MPEG4-SP (the last one is rather slow). If other codecs turn out to be popular I’ll implement it as well. If your recording got interrupted and you’re getting "Can't play this video." error message when trying to open the video Video Repair should be able to fix it. All you need is another working video file recorded using the same camera settings which can be used as reference. Video Repair will attempt to automatically pick the reference file.
Video Repair doesn’t support fixing or transoding of videos downloaded from the internet or recorded with other devices.
This app is a work-in-progress.
The UI isn’t polished yet but the main functionality is stable.
I successfully recovered couple video files recorded on different devices (luckily all my devices used H264/AAC codecs). I wanted to release it asap so that I can get your feedback and judge what are the common problems with broken files.
Video Repair is available on Google Play and you can watch the repaired video for free. Sharing or saving requires a small in-app purchase.
Please post your feedback below.
If your video can't be recovered by current version of Video Repair and you're OK with sharing it please email me a broken video and another short video recorded with the same device to [email protected] . I'll do my best to allow fixing of your file in future versions of Video Repair.
Smallprint
Video Repair uses unmodified code of JAAD library licensed under LGPL.

You're asking about MPEG4-SP (mp4v) video codec?
I'm working on this feature right now. So far I managed to recover some short videos but there are still some artifacts which I need to fix.
Please send me some sample videos (two couple seconds long videos is enough) to [email protected] so that I can ensure that your codec is supported in the future updates.

Awesome! I'd appreciate if you could leave a comment on Google Play so that others know that the app is a real thing.
I've a Galaxy S3 and it normally generates mp4 files but left me with a temp_video file. I "fixed" it with your app and on the phone the audio is "OK" I think but the video is maybe 1/2 time? If I play it on my PC with vlc media player, both audio and video are choppy and if I play it with the windows media player it's the same as on my phone - audio is the right speed but the video is maybe 1/2 time or so. Should my phone be supported? I'd send you the file but it's 1.2G or so... I could put it up on an ftp server if you like? PM me?

Yes, Galaxy S3 is supported.
I added some fixes in the latest update (version 0.2.4) which should make a playback consistent on VLC and Android video player.
Unfortunately in the file you sent me the camera crashed in the middle of the recording so there is video only for the first half of the file, the rest is audio only. There is no way to recover more video since is not there Optimistically, the glass is half full tho (half of the file is playable)!

Phone died at the end of recording video and left temp file. I couldn't get your app to recognize it until I renamed it temp_file.mp4. Ran it and it worked on the first minute and a half. The video is 22 minutes long. Any advice?
BTW this is the furthest I have gotten with the video out of almost 10 programs- keep up the good work!
I have 3 .tmp files and I'm using one .mp4 file as a reference. Worked like a charm. If anyone has problems importing the files, make sure they're in .tmp extension. :good: Good project. Keep up the development. You are saving a lot of people's data. Cheers.

The file was not playable when you recorded it and after processing by MP4 Video Repair it's playable but there is a sync issue right?
Is the difference constant through the video or is sync better at the beginning and then getting worse over time?
If the difference is constant the only way to sync it is to use some external (PC) app and synchronize it manually.
Otherwise, if the difference is increasing over time, you may try running the broken file through the latest version of MP4 Video Repair or trying to select different reference file.

[Q] Access Mx video player watched and resume status file

Hello everyone. This is my first post on XDA so please bear with me. I am using MX video player for Android on my Samsung Galaxy S3. My goal is to locate the status file of a video and extrapolate from it the watched status (Not finished/finished) and the resume point. I've tried searching for threads that may help but turned up empty handed. My ultimate goal is to use this data to update my own personal SQL video database that I've created which is synced to my xbmc. I could use Trakt (if there is support for that) but directly updating my database is somewhat preferable. If any one can help me with this I would greatly appreciated. Thanks

Why don't you make use of export > activities...?
You can domp the entire status to xml file.

Thanks for the reply. I actually did not know about the export feature. I would like this process to be as automated as possible. I was thinking of using dropsync or something of the sort to sync the local files and run whatever parser I plan on writing either remotely or locally on my phone. But I may be asking for too much.
However, I did just look into the exporting which seems like it will work out but there are two hitches in my master plan.
1.) I will be streaming most of my shows externally from my home server using BubbleUPnP which uses MX player as the renderer. All of that works great. So when I checked the xml file it has the activity but the name listed for the stream is the ip address followed by some generated file name (ex a1b2c3d4.mp4) which is not the actual name of the video I am watching and makes it useless. Whether it's being changed my BubbleUPnP or MX player is something I have to figure out.
2.) The position listed for the video in the xml file is the frame number which may be a pain for me to work with.
I'd really like to get the information as is as in the attached picture. It is a screenshot of the info of a selected video displayed through MX player. In essence I'm trying to figure out where that data is being stored on my mobile.
Sorry if this is a bit confusing and I appreciate any help. Thanks
@Royekx
1. How do you play the video?. In my tests it has right name on the activity logs. Kindly note that some file managers acts as localhost & will forward the encoded uri rather than the actual one.
2. The position mentioned in xml file is "Time in milliseconds". You can easily do a calculation to convert into sec or min or Hrs whatever you want

[Q] Automatic refresh on MXPlayer

Hi,
I use MX on a Minix 8HPlus, to play videos on big screen. I use FTPDroid to push and delete videos on the device. Unfortunately there is no option in MX Player to refresh*automatically the folder. The result: MX keep in its memories the previous videos list and try to read files already deleted. Regularly I have errors «*impossible to read this video*» .
Moreover I’ve noted that «*random mode*» is not really random. I have around 90 videos and it seems there is around 10 videos with are played frequently…
1) Could it be possible to add an option in order to refresh automatically the folder every minutes/seconds?
2) Can you tell me if there is an option to "lock" folder that contains videos?I would like MX play videos in specific folders. Currently, MX play them all.
Thanks for your feedback.
Regards.

I'm not sure that this can be done in a sane way that doesn't also unnecessarily keep the CPU awake.. Also I believe @bleu8888 might be considering a file system event detection feature, that will have MX detect file system events, but I'm not sure if he still thinks this is feasible..
Also, should hit the manual refresh button on the video list as well.

I assume by random, you mean shuffle. Have you tried selecting all the videos in the folder first and then selecting Play on the selected videos, then choosing shuffle in the playback menu?

Many thanks for you reply.
1)Power consumption is not a problem for me because the minix is always connected to 220v. I understand my case is specific… I’ve tried to create an action with Tasker but it not works. Manual action is required.
2) Yes, I’ve tried this method but it’s not efficient at 100%. I have to play DIFFERENT videos each month. In order to do that easily, I’ve created several folders named «*september*» «*october 2015*» «*november*» etc.. In those folders I put videos regularly. If we are in september, I would like MX play only «*september*» videos but actually is not the case.
With your method, that means each month I have to specify which folder to scan but I’m not in office every days…
3) Yes, I’ve meant «*shuffle*». sorry for my english. I’ll will try your method and give a feedback here.
Thanks!!!
thanks

I believe this should be possible with Tasker and the MX API, give it a try: https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/api
Possibly the video_list extra.

Hi,
quick feedback about your solutions. I've cannot succeed to use this api. I'm really a newbie with this kind of softaware.
I've selected only the videos I l ike to play and it seems that video are played more randomly. However it's an impression. I can't prove this with stats, facts.
I've found an app which can scan and update libraries on Android. I'll test it.
Xposed Media Scanner Optimizer v. 1.3
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/xposed-xposed-media-scanner-optimizer-t2942609
Edit 2: After used Media Scanner I can't see a difference. I have the impression that Android system refresh the library (I can see it in the folder in Mx interface) but MX player can't see it: I still have "unable to read this video" even if the video is still not in the folder...
It seems that MX keep in memories the last file scanned and try to read them.
For random mode, its an impression but it play the same file regurlarly...

File update: In fact, MX Player is monitoring directories to make any changes updated immediately. But directory monitoring API is broken on Android 6 and reported to Android team as an Android bug.
Shuffle: Randomness would be improved on latest nightly build (26-Jan build) since random function is changed to one with cryptographic level. Nightly build can be found on https://sites.google.com/site/mxvpen/translation/test-build
Lock folder: Not supported. I think there might be 3rd party apps having this feature.
Many thanks for your update.
Édit : I'm not using mx on 6.0 but 5.1 or 4.4
I'm using the beta version (Build date: 25-JAN-2016) and I cannot see improvement on random mode. I have around 120 videos (around 4min) and there is one which have been played twice at 15 min interval.
Can you tell me if there is a way to have a list of all files played, a log ? I feel that random is not really efficient. Always the same videos coming back (I have around 150 files)
