Upon checking, I think none. No way to do that.

Ok, after I installed the gutted ROM I have the double messages again even I get a text. But there isn't anywhere to choose handcent as default, like it was prior to rooting. I go into the settings on both handcent and stock msg and there is no option to make either a default. I assumed when I sent my first text from handcent I would get the message, but nope. Can anyone tell me how to make handcent default so I can stop getting 2 messages?

In the stock messaging app, go into settings and de-select Auto-retrieve and de-select Notifications. Close that and go to your People app and select someone to send a text message (don't do this in the Handcent app) and you should get a text box to choose which app to use and be sure to select Handcent as the dafault action.
Make sure notifications are turned off in the stock SMS app. That's all I had to do to get Handcent to be my default SMS app. You can also clear your settings, much like you'd do to switch between Sense UI and the stock home screen.

Perfect!! That worked great, thanks for the help guys.
Looking for an app to show sms messages on locked homescreen. Any recommendations?
Flyscreen?
If you're referring to an app which shows a new sms popup on a locked screen, Handcent SMS and ChompSMS both do that. Handcent has the option to not show the sms contents, not sure about Chomp though.

How so? I can't seem to figure it out.
If you're using Chomp, there are some options under Settings > Quick Compose & Reply. Not sure if you have to set the popup notification to be on under Settings > Notifications. Note that I haven't actually tried this yet as I'd rather not have notifications on my lock screen.
I know it works for Handcent though, as I used to have it enabled. Should be under the notifications settings somewhere, can't quite remember as I haven't used Handcent for quite a while.

Doesn't show it on the lock screen, but disables my lock screen when I have a new message.

Are you using Handcent or Chomp? I know Handcent worked as of ~1 month ago without disabling the lock screen (referring to the lock screen which require a pattern unlock, not sure what happens if you don't have that enabled).
I use SMS POPUP. Great app.

I'm using this, too.
And I like it
Thanks guys will check them out! This is just what I've been looking for .
Hi! Is there a way to disable sense 3.0 lockscreen popup windows for text messages or missed calls? Handcent or go sms popups and executive assistant don't work because sense lockscreen popups have priority.

I would like to know also I find the lockscreen popups to be really annoying. Notification bar is way more elegant to handle this task.
POP UP notification
Hi, I am also interested how to disable this annoying function. However, I use now handcent sms and you can disable sms pop up with this app if you set handcent to be the default sms app and not the factory one.
SOLUTION
I've just learnt the solution:
Menu>settings>privacy....uncheck the first option to display messages on lock screen...
do you not want the text there or not want the whole thing? if it's just the actual text of the message there's a setting in the privacy settings i think. if it's the other, I don't know.
I don't want the whole thing, even missed calls...

When a new message comes in, the pop up for Go SMS shows over the WidgetLocker. The option in WidgetLocker to hide SMS messages doesn't work.
I also want the pop up to turn on the screen, but not show. Help please?
The following doesn't work... VVVV

Thanks!
I just go into GOSMS settings and disable the popup. Those things are so annoying anyway.
I changed to Handcent because of this.

Handcent gives me high battery drain...
I have been using SMS Popup since the original G1, but they said with the switch over to Hangouts on the Nexus 5, there are some bugs that they are unable to work out. Is there a different app you guys are using that's working without any issues? I just want the message to popup and the ability to quick reply to it.

This isn't *exactly* what you're looking for, but check out DynamicNotifications. It makes it so when you get an email, or text, it shows message details on your lock screen and you can swipe to unlock and it'll go straight to the message. Hopefully it'll fill in the gap, as I've replaced SMS Popup with it since my Galaxy Nexus.....
I'll think about it, but at the moment, I don't have a lock screen enabled.

I second this, pure stock android messaging, extremely customizable, has popup that can be toggled, toggle it to turn on your screen, change MMS size, app icon, has status bar "Read" "Reply" options, best sms app I could ask for on this device.
