[Q] Replace HTC Speak with Google Now Voice for DotView Case - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Does any know if it would be possible to replace the default voice search from HTC Speak to Google Now when using the DotView case? This is the only thing that i don't love about this phone. Would be an awesome addition i believe.

This sounds like a fantastic idea. I too am looking for this functionality and it would be extremely helpful.

Same here. This would be awesome

I posted this exact same request, and it's a damn good one. Even if its an xposed module, i'd be all for it

I looked into modding the app, but I can't resign it with HTC's certificate so it crashed on me. At least I think that's why... The logcat implied that.
Anyways, I looked into making an xposed module a while back and couldn't get it to work. If anyone who knows how to make an xposed mod is willing to help I've got the coding work done.

Thanks for the link.
Not what we are looking for. We don't want a GPE device, but rather a way to change the swipedown motion on the DotView case to open Google Now Voice Search instead of HTC Speak.
An Xposed Framework would be perfect for this.

Bump
Anyone got this working?

Slightly with the HTC Gestures modifier exposed module, its pretty quick and dirty, but it does work, although you have to unlock the device to activate it.

Yeah, but lockbot is only for the lock screen, none of the features the actual lockscreens have is on it. Would live to see a port of the lockscreen though

Replace Sense Contacts/dialer with AOSP help.

I want to try and replace the sense contacts with the aosp contacts to try and fix this issue. While i'm searching the forums and poking around in roms, removing and replacing apps to try and figure this out on my own, i thought maybe if somebody knew for sure if this would or would not work they could chime in. If it will work i need to know what files to remove and what files to add. Thanks in advance!
I don't have the skill needed, but the only sense ROM I have found with aokp dialer is Paul O'Brien's MCR ROM. I am pretty sure it involves some framework changes, hope you get this fixed up, would definitely use it.

Also, you may want to check ex dialer, it saves directly to Google... plus it has some sweet add ons

yeah just used his kitchen to make a rom without the sense dialer and contacts, adding the others. Its almost done now. hopefully it'll be as easy as removing and replacing a couple of apks.. probably not if it requires framework changes though
So ex dialer is good eh? i wanted to try without going third party first but i am down if it is highly recommended.
Ex dialer and dialer one are my favorite alternatives

I am new to third party dialers, but I despise HTC's smartdial, but ex dialer seems like an option, plus it has sweet action like slide to call/txt ala Samsung Touch with, pretty sweet

hi, did you get this to work? I'm also interested in replacing the sense dialer.
Has anyone tried adding in the apk to the system folder and trying it that way? (And of course fixing permissions to rw r r.)

Replace Sense w stock ICS lock screen, no apk needed

Thought I'd share a little trick I found in the HTC Rezound forum... turns out you can easily peel off the Sense-style lock screen and leave your One X with clean-looking stock ICS lock. You simply need to rename /system/app/HtcLockScreen.apk to something else, reboot, and voila, Sense doesn't skin it. I renamed it using adb shell.
It doesn't work perfectly however... I've already found a couple bugs where incoming calls don't show up on the screen (only in the status bar), and if you use something like Google Music that is supposed to add controls to the lock screen, only a black background is shown. I'm sure these functions are supposed to be handled by the Sense Lock UI which is no longer there. Maybe somebody smarter than me can figure out how to fix, or maybe this is just a useless crippled hack.

Too bad about the music on the locscreen though

Sure, but there hasn't been any mention of it in the HOX forums, and this is the first phone with Sense4, which is why I linked to it here after finding this neat-o trick. That is all.
This is really cool, I'll definitely have to get around to trying it out sometime soon.
Thanks for sharing!

I doubt it, most of HTC's other apps are complete replacements of stock, whereas the Sense lockscreen is really just a skin sitting on top of ICS.
So it makes sense why incoming calls, texts, etc. using HTC's stock apps don't show up on the ICS lockscreen (they want to be handled by HTC's skin)....but I'm not sure why Google Music won't show controls since it isn't an HTC app. Curious!
Nice tip! Thanks for the info!

[Q] HTC Dotview hacking ??

So I'm seeing all these images pop up with games and even other apps running on the dot view case but nothing always hit a road block
Anyone know if the developer ever released the apk or what happend like can it still be done ??

I've been using the app since he released. Keep in mind that the google play link that was posted was only the key for the app for some added features. As for the notifications, he just had the icon for the app pop up on the screen. If that makes any sense. The dot view case itself with those dots on it makes it look okay, but no work was done for the notifications themselves; the apps icon just displays on screen. I have no way of taking a photo or else i would to show what I mean.

AOSP Gallery? Is there such a thing?

I don't like Google Photos nor do I use it. But I have to use it as a gallery with its crappy sorting.
So I was wondering if an AOSP gallery was a thing anymore? If so where can I get it?
Everytime I ask for a gallery people talk about QuickPic which is owned by Cheetah Mobile which is known for stealing people's information so there's no way anything of theirs is getting on my phone. I'd rather have something official by Google or by a trusted developer.
Thanks
man I'm thinking the same thing. I use this gallery app from play store, but i don't like it. I'd rather a stock aosp gallery!

It is a rather good and functionnal one too.
You can use the HTC Gallery and you can also try the Moto Gallery.
This one is cool, you can set the background color and modify the accent color to what you want. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.simplemobiletools.gallery
