[Q] cannot dial all emergency numbers in Israel - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello. Where I live we have a different number for every emergency case, one number for the police, one for an ambulance and another one for the fire department but every time I try to call to an ambulance, my NEXUS 5 gets to the police meaning it calls 911. how do i change it from 911 to another number? (in the dialer i dial the right number but it still doesnt work) even though I dial 101 (ambulance) it calls 911 I need to change the emergency number default from 911
Device Information: Nexus 5 D821 32GB

we don't have 112 as an emergency number in my country

It might be your carrier. Here are a couple links I found (it looks like the build.prop may be able to change it):

Fixed Dialing Numbers. Set up your phone to place outgoing calls only to the fixed dialing numbers (FDN) that you save on the phone's SIM
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...an-emergency-call-and-can-i-set-number-for-it
Kindly inform me if it will work good for you.
Thanks

Do you live in the United States? Calling 911 in the United States relays you to the police because that is where all calls for dispatch go and the dispatcher will decide EMS/Fire/ Police but in most cases all 3 are coming in an emergency.
From reading your post, how often do you call emergency services? Please don't be that guy that calls 911 for stupid reasons, I've sat in the comm center.

No I Don't live in the United States. As I said "Where I live we have a different number for every emergency case" and the reason that I call a lot to emergency services is because that I volunteer at the EMS in my country and as a volunteer I often need to call the command center..

112 is the common emergency telephone number that can be dialed free of charge from any fixed or mobile telephone in order to reach emergency services (ambulance, fire and rescue, police) in numerous European countries, including all member states of the European Union, as well as several other countries in the world. In some countries other numbers previously used also continue to be available; e.g. 999 and 112 both function in the UK. In the United States, some carriers, including AT&T, will map the number 112 to its emergency number 9-1-1.

It may help to know what country you are in... and perhaps put it in the thread title to get a better response. Could I suggest your title is changed to something like "cannot dial all emergency numbers in <country>"?

a shot in the dark (but i'm about to test it test week while in mexico with location services set to HIGH)
do you, have location / & location reporting services turned ON?
i know, it may sound like it has NOTHING to do with emergency calling, but, think on it,
how tight google has been working to make kitkat so uniformed with google now services, look up via the phone dialer, etc..
it's almost a mystery what features *location* actually have & how deep they burrow -

i mean it's a shot in the dark, if your in a country other than the US (with a phone marketed by an US company) just maybe, those defaults in the phone dialer may change, with location / location reporting..
~shrugz shoulderz~
i could be right, or dead wrong..
what does it hurt.. to *try* ..

what i'd really be shocked at, is if the 911 emergency dialing is (shockingly) hard coded into the google dialer, EVEN THOUGH that nexus 5 is markerted to *the rest of the world* (Device Information: Nexus 5 D821), ither it's a terrible over-sight, or it's not hard coded at all.. (i hope not)..
it shouldn't be, that's i suspect the missing piece would be location / location services, to right what's wrong..

[Request] Emergency number override

Hi
I have a request for a software update for my HTC touch Pro (althought this problem is on ALL HTC phones). Since HTC apparently don't care about fixing this themself I was hoping some of you guys could help me out.
I'm located in Norway and here we have three emergency numbers to call:
110 - Fire brigade
112 - Police
113 - Ambulance
The problem is that apparently HTC have decided that no ones needs three emergency numbers and they have made the assumption that 911 = 112. This means that if I want to call the fire brigade and I dial 1-1-0 and hit the call button the phone overrides what I have dialed in and calls 112 instead
This means that you have to explain your emergency to a police officer first that then calls up the department you meant to call and gives them the information one more time. Valuable time is therefore lost if you have an emergency where someone is hurt.
Any help or advice on how to solve this problem would be appreciated.
EU decided that 112 is enough whenerver you are (within EU of course)...
Cheers
Chris
Well that is just brilliant. Means I can't get the help I need when I need it.
I do get that most phones will just enable me to call 112 if my key lock is activated, but when I do type the exact number to the emergency service I need I don't want to talk to some police officer.
So anything I can do to fix this mess?
that's an interesting point, I live in Australia so if I put a custom rom on will 000 work (our emergency number)?

That is one of the points I want help to find out. I'm not sure if this info is even stored in the ROM or if it is somehow hard decoded into the phone.
I know that you can call the american emergency number 911 in norway and it will reconnect you to our 112. So most likely it will reconnect also other emergency numbers. Maybe that is what causes the problem in my case? That the phone thinks that any random 3 digit number I call is an emergency number somewhere in the world and that it connects it to our police emergency number.
No one have any more ideas on this issue?

Emergency Calls

Does anyone know if there is a way to dedicate the emergency call function on tje lock screen to a specific phone number? This would be in case something where to happen and someone picked up the phone, but it were locked. The phone would call a guardian or parent or ehatever... Thanks for the input!

Here are some recommendations:
1. U cud create a contact and let it start with "A " so it will be on top.
2. Create a contact called ICE and store it to favs (ICE = In Case of Emergency). ICE is more commonly used feature.
These however are only after screen is unlocked.
My 2 cents as having worked for AT&T Mobility is in short, not without some serious hacks. Long answer is basically, your phone in emergency isn't calling a number, but is instead commanding an emergency channel. When you dial 911, 999, or any other standard emergency number your phone basically sends a "digital SOS" that the cell tower interprets and then contacts its programmed local service. This is why a NYC phone that is in LA, London, or Taipei can call 911 and get local police instead of NYPD. Congress mandated all cell phones comply and it has become an industry standard.

[Q] Caller ID Madness

Hi folks,
I am trying to figure out the best way to store numbers in the phone app.
I usually store the number as 01234567890 with the leading zero so that I can call the number from anywhere in the country.
The network operator sometimes sends the caller ID as +11234567890 which is the international format. Windows phone fails to match this with the contact in my phonebook. I want it to match only the last ten digits of the number. My old dumbphone was doing this straight out of the box.
Am I missing something or does the Windows Phone 7 phone app just not support this?
Best Regards,
Gowtham
If you're in the US (I assume so, since you have country code of 1) then you might as well just store the number with the leading 1 (or +1 if it's really needed, but it shouldn't be). I have some number stored without the area code, some with area code but no country code, and some with both, and it seems to work out. A leading 0 is probably confusing the phone though.
I am based out of India at the moment. It is standard procedure to put in a 0 to call mobile phones located in a different state in our country.
After a soft reset and sync, my phone seems to function properly for now.
I'll post updates if I discover anything else.

Caller ID issue

I am wondering if anyone had this issue after rooting the phone, but when I receive calls, their caller ID comes wrong: The number is always is missing the country code:
for example, instead of receiving +1 248 123 4567, i get +248 123 4567. So not only saved numbers are not recognized because they do not match the caller id, but if i let the call stop and try to call back that missed call, I get the operator's automated message saying that the dialed number is wrong.
Any idea about how to fix this?

Go to phone/settings/calls and disable/enable assisted calling
Plus set your current country to match the country code

Question Got a call from "None" today, weird happenings

I cant find where to post this, this website changed so much, but it was on my new s22 ultra so....
I got a call from "NONE" the 'number' beneath it was "NN".
No voice on the other side, and I attempted to called back. Then my phone popped up a little message near the bottom of the screen... "USSD Code Running."
It kinda freaked me out. What does that mean?
Do a Google search on "USSD Code Running". A lot of info comes up.
oh my...
Which code was it?

I've seen this kind of behavior when I've had the phone in my front pocket, and I happened to be sweating. The sweat carried the electrical signals in my skin through the pocket liner (I'm no scientist, just my running theory) to the screen and thus, randomly unleashing all sorts of weird mayhem and shenanigans.
It's either that or gremlins.........
Happened again, check the recording
Probably just a harmless rootkit...
For whatever reason it's probably just the way that phone responds to some unknown numbers with no caller ID. I block unknown numbers, try that.
Freaky.
Can you block the call?
I don't call back unknown numbers.
Off topic -
Noticed that Samsung added a feature in Samsung Messaging that allows users to block e-mail messages.
its an Aliens
It is mostly likely a SPAM caller. There are automatic dialing apps that can either spoof a number, or completely hide the number, which makes it difficult to block.
I'm have Verizon and it has a Call Filter app. Check with your provider if it has a call filter app. You can also find third party call filtering apps.
Unfortunately, dealing with SPAM and scam calls is a game of Wack-a-mole.

Yeah...don't call those kinds of numbers back. If something like that comes up, or you get a blocked number. Let it go to voicemail. If they leave a voicemail, fine. If not, don't call it back.
It is possible someone was trying to run a Smishing scam on you. With the aim to hijack your SIM and take over your phone service account. Depending on your carrier, the USSD code could trigger your device to do something you don't want it to do.

I do it short and quick :
The mobile Phone number of your simcard
Has now call forwarding active to the Hackers Server (ussd MUST bei activated by the victim/target. Hacker need the victim to call a 10 Digits number that will Route to His Server)
Its a curently Well known Hack ... (Thus Person was smart enough to hide His 10 Digits number ... Well played good trap)
What the attacker wants... example :
Get into all your Accounts that are secured with YOUR PHONE NUMBER
...WhatsApp Google ... An E-Mail Account ? Etc etc
So...
I dont believe IT was random Attack.
Someone who know how or someone who ordered this
Knows you ... And need to dive into your privates
(thats childplay Hacking from YouTube nothing unknown or hard to do)
Good News : Sometimes ...someone Else is "the target" .... So the attacker needs informations Out of your device and apps....to get information about the Others real Targets Phone number ... in that Case your device/Accounts need to be Hacked or hooked or jacked ....
If your simcard is older than 5-8 years ...Hmmm
Maybe the simcard still use [email protected] browser. (A Browser placed inside your simcard)
Get rid of such a simcard too. Better Sirius lee
Change ur simcard Phone number for ur savety.
But
do it by EVEN changing the mobile Network Provider. (Best in Case If u have an old jackable simcard)
Sad fact : If the Hacker has enough informations from your simcard u need to Change the Provider. Because ... Your Provider maybe gives u a Brand new simcard ... With a new number that u ordered (the Service to Change Phone number to a new one) ... But ... The new number ist the only Thing what Changed all other leaked informations will stay the same as an act of keeping your customer number in the customer Care systems.
U need new customer number or Change the Provider + new number
My Tip: Use a Landphone number as a WhatsApp number ^^ need to recieve calls to activate the new WhatsApp Account so No Premium SMS Hack possible.... its More save
And ... U can start new the new start is : never leak ur simcards original mobile Phone number. Not in those days. Use the original simcard Phone number to Order pizza or a taxi. Give IT to No one and u dont need to Clean everything... Like u need to do NOW

Jupp thats so obvious ... The trap was better than call the target and please the Person to dial the number that activates the call forwarding Code that waits on a Server
Sim jacking needs the [email protected] Browser in the simcard. Needs to be an old one. Network Provider dont sell new regular simcards with the [email protected]
And dave wouldnt know that an invisible SMS with Codes reached his SMS Inbox :/
No need to call him in that case ... Just send the right prepared SMS and Game over
