I recently installed the eBay app, and have immediately noticed a thumb bar thing at the bottom of the screen. Pics are below. I highly doubt it's from eBay.
I've had the same apps on my phone that I've had previously on the Nexus 4, and never saw this. Even with eBay installed. I have to reboot the phone to get rid of it.
Any ideas?

I found out. An app I had updated security for the Galaxy S5's finger print scanning, and is leaving a bar on non Galaxy devices. Sheesh....

I had this too, a reboot fixed it. I thought I was going crazy.
Edit: I checked my running processes and it turns out to be lastpass at fault. There was a floating fingerprint overlay process I had to kill since it just returned.

Yeah, LastPass just added S5 fingerprint support, looks like it leaked to other devices, might want to file a bug report.
Sorry, I forgot to mention that it was the lastpass app. I hope this bug doesn't become common when apps update for finger print scanning tech.

Has anyone found a working flashlight app for the N5? I found it was pretty useful for me to be able to click a widget/icon and have the flash on the camera fire up. I had one on my Note, and found I miss the functionality.
Thought I would ask before trying the multitude of apps out there in the play store.
Thanks!
Here's one...

I use one called Tiny Flashlight + LED, works great and has a nice selection of widgets that you can place on your home screen. There is a slight delay though, that wasn't present on my last device.

TeslaLED is the one I've always used, it's by the same people who make Nova Launcher.
Is it just me or is the torch slow to come on? I noticed this in comparison to my Galaxys S3, which fires up without delay.
I use Brightest Flashlight
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=goldenshorestechnologies.brightestflashlight.free
The n1torch I backed up from CM for Nexus 4 works.
I use a widget called Power Toggles available in the Play Store. It includes a switch that is a small flash graphic that turns the flash on like a flashlight. It is instaneous. The other toggles are very handy as well.

Which flashlight app has the power up (not the click) sound to go with it? Been looking for it, just can't remember.

I've been using Switch Pro Widget since the N1 days and it still works just fine on the N5.
I use Powertoggles https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.painless.pc and also Dashlight https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.spectrl.DashLight

Power Toggles seems just as slow as any other app. About 0.5 to 1 second to engage. Think it might just be the LED itself is slow to engage.
+1 for Tesla led

Nexus devices don't support sysfs.
AKA the entire camera module has to be fired up before the torch can be turned on.

I'm running the Purity ROM on my nexus 4 and 5. The torch on my N4 comes on instantly when toggled while on the N5 its about a 4 sec delay before it comes on...so I doubt that reasoning..might be right..(I don't even know what sysfs is or mean)....but i can confirm its not all nexus devices
Has any ever tried to edit a comment on the facebook app? No matter what ROM I'm running it just won't allow it. I have to do it from the browser.

Long-press on the comment. There is no visual, audible, or haptic feedback but it will open a context menu letting you delete or edit it.

That it is definitely not. Any errors will be due to the Facebook app.
It doesn't happen all the time but yeah in Facebook when I focus a comment field sometimes the keyboard appears and then immediately disappears. Another major gripe I have with Facebook on this phone is that the graphic assets seem to be made for a lower res than this phone and so aren't as crisp as they should be. Especially the app icon in GEL. [/OT]
wake lock on Facebook is not good.

FB app is a hog. I've had to tweak it to disable a couple of the services and also the startups so it doesn't kill battery. So far it does pretty good. I use Xposed and use BootManager to have it not load on startup, as well as ReceiverStop and kill a couple Receivers (appwidget_update and connectivity_change) so it just kills background stuff, not the actual app functions.

My facebook app doesnt drain at all weirdly, I set it to refresh every hour, notifications and messages always on, and sync turned off. Often appearing as the last or second last app on my battery stats at the end of the say with about 3% total usage, and yes I do use it, alot!

Hi there,
I've been really happy with my Nexus 5 since buying it in February, but I've always been jealous of those notifications iPhone users get on their lockscreen... So I decided to look at many different lockscreen apps. However, and I've found this issue multiple times with Widgetlocker, SlideLock, etc. After installing, the apps work like normal; my stock lock screen is disabled and the other shows up in its place. But after a while, seemingly random, the lockscreen app fails to show the screen, and I often have to flip it on and off or even reinstall it to get it to show up again... Has anyone else had this problem and possibly knows of a solution? I'm running a rooted factory ROM. Thanks in advance!

Well, seems like app issues. No one here can really help with that. You'd need to go to app website or email the makers.

Try this if you don't want a custom ROM. Rather than "replacing" the default lockscreen with an app it overlays on top. You'll also need to install this first but do not add it as a Lockscreen Widget since NiLS Floating Panel overlays over the lockscreen without needing the Widget.
I have the i9505 and I recently received the lollipop update on Vodafone Ireland.
I am missing some features such as ambient display and screen pin, this is very annoying as I was looking forward to these the most.
Did my carrier or Samsung decide to leave them out? And if so how can I get them back?
Thank you for any help
Screen pin lockscreen should be there i have it on btu 5.0.1 ,as for ambient display i dont think samsung added this feature maybe on note 4 and s5 dunno
..
Thanks for your quick reply, I can't find screen pin tho. It is not in the security tab, I would post a screenshot but I can't as I'm not allowed yet
This is what I have on my btu.

Sorry , I didn't make it clear . it is my fault. I am talking about screen pinning
You mean a password that you put in to get in your phone?
Sent from my GT-I9505 using XDA Free mobile app
No that is not what I mean . screen pinning is when u can pin an active app to the screen and you can't quit it. It is useful when you are handing the phone to a friend.
Oh I see what you mean now and BTU does not have this feature nexus does though maybe in next update it might come.

It is supposed to come in 5.1 as far as I know.
The S4 does not support full ambient display. The "turn screen on when the phone is picked up" part doesn't work on the S4. Hardware limitations.
Ohh okay. Great. Thank you
The screen pin doesn't seem to be included why I'm not sure
But try look under security
On g3 its there

CM12 is known for adding custom features..
Also, I watched a 5.1 review and the guy said something about screen pinning being back or that it has a screen pinning feature. Something along those lines.
I don't have it on my 5.0.1 GPE rom
Ohh thanks guys, guess I will either get CM12 or wait for the next update
Anyone using easy home app and have experience with the pro version. For those who don't know the app turns you home key into a capacitive button rather then a physical button. I don't know for sure but I've read that it supports the N5, S6, S6E, and S6E+. I have also read about N4, and S5 users using it. I really like the app and it works well. I really missed my OnePlus 2 home button.

I'm not quite sure I understand. When I try to bypass my lockscreen with any other fingers then I have setup in the fingerprint settings it will not unlock and prompts me to enter a backup password. So I'm not sure if they have fixed thas issue but lockscreen fingerprint login and last pass fingerprint login seem to be working fine for me.

You are 100% wrong and shouldn't mislead other people. I've been using the app since it was posted a few months ago by @Jawomo it works exactly as it should. I've been using it everyday for months with my fingerprint unlock and have never had a failed unlock.
