Hey anybody know where I can find a CHEAP Digitizer for an AT&T Samsung Captivate SGH-I897ZKAATT???
A couple questions for a new user:
1. I cracked the screen of my galaxy note 2. I called samsung, they referred me to their repair center. I can't call them until tuesday on account of the holiday in Canada. My phone is rooted, will they repair it, even if I pay for the repairs if my phone is rooted?
2. Any idea how much it will cost to fix the screen?
3. Can I re-root my phone?
Thanks everyone
That's a good question. Idk if they would or not, but if you know what's wrong you can buy the parts yourself and fix it yourself. Galaxy is actually a fairly simple phone to repair on your own. I broke my gf gs3 and insurance wanted $200 to fix it. All that was wrong was the digitizer and the screen cracks. I found parts to replace them for cheap. If that's something you could handle I'd look into that first.
Sent from my brain to your eyes, to your brain, using my Galaxy S3, running Cm 10.1. I'm in your head now.

Idk if it applies to the s2, but on the s3 the screen digitizer and glass are all one component. if you melt the glue holding he pieces, you can replace them individually which is much cheaper than any other option
I dropped my phone and shattered my screen this morning. After chatting with a Samsung representative about it, it turns out that they will repair the phone for $161 (including shipping both ways). Apparently this fee would cover any other damage that they find as well; they specifically mentioned things such as failure to charge and other physical problems. The number to call is 888-987-4357.
I just thought that this was a neat service, and significantly cheaper than Verizon's equipment insurance plan.
Plus, I'll include a nice little note to the repair team asking them politely about unlocking my bootloader.
lmao. since they just unlock BL on demand.. how much is an insurance claim?
Lol, more power to OP. If he gets it back unlocked I'll be thrilled.
Just do it yourself. Ton of YouTube videos out there

Yeah, but there are a few problems with that.
- OEM parts are more expensive than the repair through Samsung
- If I screw it up, it's even more broken than before. Apparently there's some glue behind the screen that causes easy damage.
- A Samsung repair is covered by Samsung. An Ivan repair isn't covered by Samsung.
Ehhhh, I agree the Samsung repair is easier, but definitely not cheaper. Good luck
S5 screen
Hello guys.
My Verizon S5 G900V has a damaged motherboard, but I got to successfully separate the screen from the phone. I was wondering if I could install this screen on a Galaxy S5 SM-G900M. Do you think my Verizon GS5 screen would be compatible with SM-G900M motherboard ??
Thanks in advance.

My best guess would be that it'll work, but you won't be able to use it on Verizon, since it's a GSM board. Need a mobo from a Verizon phone.

Not if the glass is separate from the digitizer, like it was for the S3 and S4. If it is separate, new glass is like $6 on eBay and is pretty simple to replace if you buy the kit. Example.
Now, if the digitizer is broken too, yeah, you should send it off and pay $161.
Thanks!
I was actually just about to drop my phone off at the local fixit shop for a $289 replacement, this is perfect! I can confirm the $161.29 fee with free shipping included. I also looked at redoing the screen myself (I did a few iPhones) but the assembly goes for over $200.
Thanks for the info!
My screen is cracked on my Galaxy Note Pro 12.1 and it is rooted. I have the Verizon LTE version, but I do not have a data plan. Obviously, I have to pay out of my pocket to fix the screen. Does anyone know if Samsung will replace my screen, if my device is rooted? Thanks for the help.

Your tablet root or not root doesn't matter when the screen is cracked. Any physical damages will void the warranty.
You can send it for repair and I think they charge around $180 for replacing the screen assembly. You should flash back the stock ROM when sending for repair as it may cost you more ,
they will blame you for modifying the firmware and software.
