i need a custom rom for my device. Specs
Karbonn Smart A10
Android 4.1.2 (Stock)
512 MB Ram
Processor-1 GHz dual core processor
Chipset-Mediatek- mtk6577
GPU- PowerVR SGX 531
can i flash a rom not supported for my phone, and also do i have to cross-check the rom's Android version? will it affect my battery?

If you look at the specifications off videocon A52 it's quite similar to that of mmx a110.
A52 runs on android 4.2.
The device has been powered by dual core processors and 512 mb ram.but I was unable to verify the chipset of the device.
Moreover it's an Indian brand. So I strongly suspect it has a mediatek 6577 .
If it has the same chipset we could port android 4.2 from it.

Currently, I can say that there is no custom rom for your specific device on XDA.
Have you tried by Google, maybe you can find something.
I try to find something because your device had this chipset : 1GHz Cortex-A7 Dual Core CPU, Mali-400 GPU, MediaTek MT6572 chipset
