Whatsapp backup Encrypt without email ? - Security Discussion

Hello Everyone
after the new encryption update i'm facing a lot of problems regards the email issue, Whatsapp encrypt through device email right now as we all know, but some devices doesn't add an email up on initialization and doesn't use play store, so they download whatsapp via moborobo,mobogenie,etc... so how encryption is done ? on what email ? i'm falling in the same case now and can't solve it, thanks.

How do I remove my Google Mail account?!

Hi all.
I've recently bought my very first smartphone which is running Android 2.1. I'm absolutely loving it so far but I have a couple of questions regarding security.
Soon after setting up Android I configured the Google Mail app to sync with my Google Mail account, which is my primary email address.
I've noticed that whenever I open the Google Mail app it displays thousands of my emails, some of which contain very personal and sensitive information. My concern is that if somebody was to steal my phone and get passed the pretty basic key lock, they will have access to all of my emails over the past few years!
I've been told that it's not possible to password protect it or log out of the account; is that true?
I've tried to remove my Google Mail account from the app but it gives me the message:
This account is required by some applications. You can only remove it by resetting the phone to factory defaults (which deletes all your personal data). You do that in the Settings application, under Privacy.

Surely I don't have to do a factory reset just to remove my Google Mail account?
Any help would be appreciated.

I've done that already but as soon as I reopen the Google Mail app all of my messages reappear.
I've now archived all of my emails in Gmail and removed them from my inbox so they have now stopped showing in the Google Mail app but any new messages will appear.
I just don't understand why it's not possible to remove my account from the application.

I only want to remove it from the Google Mail application on Android so that if my phone was stolen or got into the wrong hands they don't have access to thousands of personal and sensitive emails.

Where does Android store email password?

Hello
I'm using LG Optimus Black 4.0.4 - stock rom, rooted.
I want to transfer my company email account from default email application to K-9 email app. But i dont remember the password. Is there any location that we can see the password? I've found wi-fi passwords as plain text. I hope I can read email password too.

Why not reset the password (or click on 'Forgot Password')?
That way you can create a new password, and log in using that. :good:

Of course I understood you mate. You want to use K-9 email app to manage your company email account, right? But you don't remember it's password. So, the easiest way is to reset the password and set a new one. Then you can enter the new one in the K-9 app and login! Simple. :good:

XDA gets very suspicious when someone new signs up to the forum and their first question is about something that could easily be used to obtain hidden information that you shouldn't do.
How do we know that you are not trying to access someone else's email password without their permission?
If this is, truly, for your own work email then just ask the IT department to reset your password - but it is highly doubtful you have really forgotten your work password and sounds dodgy.
I had a similar problem as well. My email password could not be changed, there was no way to recover the password through the provider, and the workaround would have been to wait a few months for the account to be deleted and then reregister. Thankfully, I found the solution with a little googling.
Browse to /data/user/0/com.android.email/databases and copy EmailProvider.db to your computer. Other phones might have their database in a different location. Download and install Sqlite Database Browser from sourceforge.net if you haven't, and then skip down to the sqlitebrowser instructions here:
http://ubuntu42.blogspot.com/2011/11/android-recover-mail-password.html
Decrypt the password
On samsung phones, the passwords in /data/user/0/com.android.email/databases/EmailProvider.db are encrypted. You will need to use the 'samsung-password' decryption tool: lovasoa.github.io/samsung-email-password-decrypt/

O STF up do you know how many emails i have? No But i'll tell you 2 personal 3 for work a spam and 2 for shopping not everyone likes using one or two emails for 700 things. you know how hard it can be at times to remember passwords... tell me haven't forgotten a password and wish you could just recover it without having to fight to reset it. sometimes it's not as simple as yahoo where you don't even have to be the owner of the ****ing email to to reset it. Not only that but again he has it on his old phone trying to put it on his new phone or switch apps to something simpler... i'm with him i have about 4 phones with emails on them i don't even remember making... so NO actually he sounds like a legit worker that is tyring not to a piss off the I.T. guys by giving them more **** tastic jobs that we just loving doing. because it's not like we don't have More pressing matters to attended to like fixing your printer that people like to over cram so they have to refill it less often. or constantly keeping you in work by repairing your computers that crash on you well you are doing graphs and slide shows. we would love to stop all that to reset your password you should have put in a secure place to begin with.

Help! Somebody spoofing my whatsapp / facebook

Hello,
Somebody has the ability to message my contacts on WhatsApp, despite me changing my phone (have tried both Android / iPhone). Not only are they controlling my WhatsApp, but they also have the ability to post stuff as me on Facebook too, which is quite scary (again on both iOS and Android).
Here's the really strange thing. They are now sending my contacts messages via WhatsApp appearing to be from my mum. My mum does not know what WhatsApp is, let alone use it - her phone doesn't even support internet (it's a Sony Ericsson T68i). How is this even possible?? I'm guessing they've found her contact on my phone (it's stored as 'mum').
I have no answers to any of this, I initially thought my Android phone had been hacked, but the problem is occurring on my iPhone too. My mum's phone has no internet, it doesn't even have a MAC address I believe, so they can't be spoofing via that method??
Help!

Yup - changed every password. A simple search reveals it's quite easy to spoof a whatsapp account, which I believe he's doing. No idea how to stop it and how he managed to access my FB too.
FB sign in logs shows nothing suspicious, so he's doing it through my phone.
Have contacted WhatsApp support, not sure what else I can do.
Might change my mobile number, but that is so much hassle!

You should have a phone number and another email account associated with your Google account. You risk completely and permanently losing access otherwise.
These accounts seldom get hacked if you have a very strong password that you change periodically, but it's not 100% hack proof.
Experience has taught me never to use verification Qs, the devil is in the details.
One missed letter in any of the brain picking Q responses can bone you hard.
Lol, do you really want Google to know your mother's maiden name? NO.

[solved] I can't recovery google account !

i lost my gmail account recovery link email
Due to carelessness, when I changed my password I forgot and couldn't access my email
All the ways that I tried got the message to send the code to lost email (Email account recovery link) And the email is inaccessible.
I have a phone number for 2-step verification, old password before changing.
And the contact email address has recovered the account several times, I still use my home ip address to recover.
- But I reinstalled windows and phone due to fear of unauthorized access to my account
In that email there was nothing precious but commemorative photos of family and friends on google photo i would be very grateful if someone help me get my account back.
This is Google's mistake to not be able to recover the account just because the account recovery link email is lost.
This is a mistake by Google because when creating an account and when using it, they do not ask users to download the backup code,As well as a warning if the account recovery email is lost it will not be possible to recover the account. In fact, the account recovery email is a secondary email, so it is rarely accessed and used by users As well as the password login system, users rarely use their password after changing.
I got my account back by Reply find email by name and by phone number.I received a request to leave a contact email and after 48 hours of verification I changed my password

I've done it this way many times but still got the code sent to the lost account recovery link email.
If I could just follow this guide and get my account back, I wouldn't need to create this thread.
I have tried many times following those tips and instructions to no avail. But the result is still sending the code to the long-lost email because it is not used often.

Hi, look under Google drive webpage where you can purchase Google One storage plans. There should be a chat box.(like live text message) You can ask them to connect you with the department you need. Good luck.

I had the same problem like you once. I've never managed to recover that account. Never. They still have it and they can keep it if they want but they don't want to give it back to you. Why don't you try with some recovery questions? I guess you did but maybe you can try writing to them so they can give you some questions to verify that the account is yours.
