Download the boot.img from Phantom or ThunderZap kernel, these kernels have some fixes included.
And you don't need userdata.img, simply do a factory reset inside the recovery.

I want to play with flashing the unofficial CM11 kernel onto different roms. How do you extract the CM11 Kernel from CM11 roms and flash to another rom? I've read in years past you can take things out of the rom zip file and throw it into a different zip and flash.
Thanks!
Extract the ROM zip and take out the boot.img. This is the kernel. It can be flashed via fastboot or flashify.

Hello,
About a month ago I rooted my Nexus 5 (Android v.5.0.1) and installed ElementalX kernel (V2.07).
As of today I can now download & install the Android 5.1 system update. My question is, can I install it safely considering that I have a custom kernel installed? If not, what do I have to do?
Thank you

No, it'll error on the update. I assume you have custom recovery installed to have installed elementalx? So just flash a 5.1 zip followed by elementalx 2.11
Sent via tapatalk from my cataclysm'd Lollipooop Nexus 5
download new factory images
fastboot flash system system.img
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash radio radio.img
fastboot flash bootloader bootloader.img
boot into custom recovery
then flash SuperSU/other stuff if desired
Thank you for your help!
I was running RR rom on my device then i wanted to change to aosp today but while flashing it got stuck at patching system image unconditionally for like an hour so i flashed the stock COS13 via fastboot.
I can flash MM based roms but no Nougat based roms (
EDIT:
I managed to fix my issue. i went back and flashed twrp 2.8.7.0 recovery and then flashed the latest firmware image. that seems to have fixed my issue. successfully flashed jgcaap's cm14.1 rom now <3
What recovery version are you using?
Re-download the zip rom and flash it again...

Even i'm stuck with the same issue. I flashed the latest firmware too, but it didn't help. I can flash all roms except android nougat roms. Please tell me the entire procedure. Thank you.
