FM Radio - working - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I pulled the stock FM radio app from a non-verizon stock image .. You either need to have a writable system partition w/ root or need to push these with adb from TWRP or CWM recovery (after mounting the system partition from the mount section)
Here you go (de-odexed)!
put these both in /system/priv-app
HtcFMRadioWidget.apk
FM_Radio.apk

The stock headphones are the worst. I can't figure out how such an amazing phone came with such crap headphones. Lose 'em and don't look back.

So is there a built in FM tuner in this phone or is it using the headphones themselves to tune radio stations?

I wholeheartedly disagree with you on this one. These are some of the best stock headphones I've used to date.

Well, I wholeheartedly disagree with your disagreement
Seriously, there's no noise isolation between the buds and the cables, meaning that they pick up way too much friction and impact noise from contact with your body and clothing; the control button is very flakey, and they're difficult to pack neatly for travel. And they just don't sound that great to me. My (listen-only) 10 year-old Koss PortaPros are head and shoulders above the HTCs as far as fidelity, isolation and frequency response is concerned. And while they're not technically as portable as the HTCs, they're actually worth the effort of taking along.*
I'm sure they have their strong points for you, but mine are hanging around only as headphones-of-last-resort.
* Am I the only guy that actually travels with no less than three sets of headphones? Bose QC-2s for in-flight, the Koss PPs for exercise and casual listening, and Apple earbuds for when I need to be mobile yet still able to answer the phone . . . And sometimes I bring my Mee AF-32s when I'm going to be in one place for a while. It's nice to be cable-free when the activity demands it, like cooking or doing chores.

Found this http://global.ebay.com/Samsung_I9000_Galaxy_Lautsprecher_Speaker_Original_NEU/160501490806/item with great help from guys at iandroid forums.
They don't ship to my country but I'll try to talk to them today to see what can be done.
The price is absurd though ...
Anyways, if I lay my hands on this part I'll probably make a how-to vid for the process

I have looked everywhere for a replacement pair of the stock headphones that shipped with the phone. Instead I get a ton of headphones with D700 on it and a bunch of negative reviews.
So I ask you the community, a way for me to accuire a pair of said headphones. Or a good replacement pair that won't break the bank.
So Samsung Epic community....Help a brother out?

Surprisingly, I use a full size sony headphone with ear cushion and notice no decline in battery charge compared to the out of box ear buds. The sound is much better and not too cumbersome. Price? ,,,about $40 but usable on the home stereo also.
i use a pair of meelectronics m11+ that has an inline mic control, these can be picked up for around 30-40
I got a pair similar to the oem headphones, off of Monoprice for a few bucks. They have a half dozen to choose from.

I found the OEM headphones quite terrible sounding. Now I an using UE TripleFi 10vi. It's very natural sounding and it takes advantage of the wolfson WM8994 DAC with voodoo 6 control & audio kernel by supercurio.
Yeah amazon has the best deals for headphones. As long as the title says OEM your good to go. I was about to buy a pair but I'll just wait till my current ones die out on me from sweat or the plug in messing up like all my other headphones. They've lasted quite a while though.
I use the black berry premium that have the music controls on them. However the music controls only bring up your calls list and dial your last number called. Sound is great.

Yeah, the stock Epic 4G headphones are pretty dope on their on... With Voodoo Control. Funny that I ignored them for the first month and a half thinking they were crappy. Wasn't until I checked on forums like this did I see people post positive feedback on them.

Believe it or not I got a pair of skull candies from fred meyer on sale for only $8 and they re great. The stock headphones have a mic though for answering calls. If you just want to jam though, get some skull candies on sale. They are awesome

I use UE Triplefi 10s with a custom cable...there around all together $200-400

Paying $200 to any dev..... *Donating

Here's the basics of my request. Live in a fringe area of 3g reception. My MAXX gets at least 1 bar more in coverage. Clients never complain of reception issues. GS3 gets inconsistent coverage... I have updated to the newest modem... works better but still under par to motto. Is there any way to allow this phone to use more power to transmit and rec signal?? If there is a working solution I will be happy to donate 200 to any dev that can make this happen.
Just inherit with the design? Or it possible to increase the phone signal power??

Just like in the real world, if you throw cash then we can do whatever we want.
You probably already know this, but, you will have to either wait for Verizon to release a new radio or install a signal booster at home. I don't think that your request is possible, I could be wrong though....

From what I understand Samsung reduced the radio's power to meet lower radiation standards. I think a newer firmware could solve this problem but the question is will we get one.
Keep it together
Thanks for the input. I will give you a call on the number you left.
Ps... tried the booster. In fact I run a 3watt kit in my car which works great. The in home kits I don't find all that great.... unless you are in front of the repeater. Basically too limiting imo.

Really? If that's the case, shouldn't someone be able to come out with a kernel which ups the power of the radios? That would be absolutely amazing if they could!

Upping the power of the radio will also eat through your battery quicker and doesn't necessarily mean it will make the radio work any better..
Better designed internal antennas would be sufficient in most cases.. And since Samsung has a looooong history of dishing out poor radios, I doubt increases in radio power will help if any..

It's been a few years since I've purchased it, but the I the have Jawbone Icon and it works great. Though I have yet to use it on my S4. I mostly bought it to use for long talk sessions with my girlfriend (now wife) so I wouldn't tire of holding the phone. I never wore it out anywhere, just not one of those people. Nor in my truck, as it has built in Bluetooth capability.
Good luck on finding one that is right for you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I am using the Plantronics Legend. I work on corporate and travel a lot. It has great battery life and excellent soind quality. Also like the gesture and voice features (e.g., pick up to answer). Also good enough to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking transcription software. It just works amazingly well. I upgraded from Jawbone Icon. Would highly recommend.

Jaybird Bluebuds X, that's what I have work great and last all day. They are expensive $170 but there are some 20% off coupons online I found one and if you buy it on their online store you don't have to pay taxes. At least I didn't.

If you're looking for an A2DP bluetooth stereo headset I really like my LG Tone though one of the earbuds cracked on the seam, but nothing a little superglue won't cure. I've been using it while riding my motorcycle and the sound is crisp and clear though lacking a lot of bass (I like my bass). All in all I'd buy it again.
http://www.amazon.com/LG-Wireless-Bluetooth-Stereo-Headset/dp/B0052YFYFK
the next model up is also available, heard the audio on it is even better though the noise canceling isn't as great as the first one.

just my thoughts.
I use my Bose Bluetooth Headset Series 2 just about every day, all day. I love it. Sound quality is great and the battery life is insane.

That's the most amazing radio app I have seen. I ditched the stock radio and put this one on my M8 and on a friends HTC One S and it works stunningly well.
Verizon disabled the FM receiver on the M7 also. Clearly, they want you streaming music via your data connection so they can yank harder on your short hairs. They did something similar with the DNA; the international model (Butterfly) came with a perfectly good SD card but Verizon forced HTC to remove it for the DNA, and HTC didn't have the market muscle to stand up to them. I can just hear it: "Let's take away their SD cards and FM radios, force them into the cloud, then TAKE AWAY THEIR UNLIMITED DATA!" (Que evil laugh). Arrogant profit pursuit over customer interests. At least TMo is forcing them, finally, to compete a tiny bit. Sorry, end somewhat off-topic rant...pet peeve.
