Blackout One Pack Edited: png-optimized for speed/loading/size and added full preview
The theme is simple enough:
1) White htc "ONE" logo on black bg at splash (splash.zip)
2) fade in white htc "ONE" logo with 8 white loading bubbles transitioning to green before looping x8 until system startup (vzw_bootup.zip)
3) quick green htc "ONE" logo fade-out for shutdown. (hTC_downanimation.zip)
I've included the zip files referenced above as well a an animated .gif preview (full now)
The entire sequence is as follows: fade up white logo, load bubbles, go green, flash three times, repeat loading animation...
For the splash be sure to place in fastboot folder. from the cmd line enter "fastboot oem rebootRUU" and then "fastboot flash zip splash.zip" once the htc logo comes up in RUU mode and then "fastboot reboot" once you're done.
>>>For animations replace the current ones (typically names as per above) in your /system/customize/resource folder and be sure the permissions are set correctly. You'll need root (for animations) and S-OFF (for splash)
Enjoy!
Working good.
do these need to be renamed bootanimation.zip and downanimation.zip to work? i my resource folder i do not have any files in there named like these files.
thanks

if you're running stock, these are the actual conventions. I haven't tried any, but if those are the names of the files in your directory then by all means..

I'm on viper, i tried doing it that way and renaming them to what they were in the resource tab but it didn't work, viper rom thou has a setting in their tweaks to add a boot animation and i did it that way and it worked. great animation by the way really digging it!

Awesome. Glad you liked it! Haven't switched over to a custom ROM just yet as I've heavily modified the stock one.. I suspected it was going to require ROM-specific settings. Liking Viper?

Yeah I'm really liking it. I never really liked sense or tw that much I'm more of an aosp guy but this rom is pretty bithin. Waiting for cm or slim roms to come out with a build for this phone. Other than that its petty solid. Haven't had any issues with anything and they a have few dark themes which make it really nice

This is actually the first time I've been off cm in a while.. I'm waiting for the lightweights as well.. Sense is definitely better than it was in the past, but I've shut off a lot. Hated tw.. Never ran a galaxy on anything other than aosp.. Really like the latest HTC..
Well if anyone had an animation or a mod question feel free. I swapped out the kernel, enabled all the great settings and froze everything else..

What it changes:
Status Bar & icons
Popup menus
Buttons
Drop down menus
"loading" spinners
and other things i can't remember
Requirements:
Root
BandroidX's bootstrap recovery or Sndinit.apk (below) or have ADB set up with knowledge
some knowledge on what you need to do if something goes wrong with your phone (e.g. SBF, nandroid restore)
To apply:(With bootstrap recovery or 2ndInit)
Download the flashable zip below to sdcard
Boot into CWM recovery through BandroidX's recovery app
make a nandroid backup
Select install zip from sdcard
Select choose zip from sdcard
Select the downloaded .zip.zip
select yes to confirm
wait for installation to finish (a few seconds)
Reboot (will take a while because of the modded services.jar, so BE PATIENT!) Pull Battery and boot up again if boot takes longer than 5 minutes
Enjoy your theme!
(With ADB)
Download the .zip to you computer
Extract the services.jar and framework-res.apk to where your ADB directory is
Plug your phone in with phone portal and ADB debugging enabled (settings>applications>development)
Open up your command prompt
Type these commands (after each, press enter):
Code:
cd [directory of adb and .jar and .apk]
adb remount
adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/framework-res.apk
adb push services.jar /system/framework/services.jar
adb reboot
(reboot will take awhile because you are modding the services.jar, so BE PATIENT!) Pull Battery and boot up again if boot takes longer than 5 minutes
Things needed in upcoming updates:
Change some white font to black for easier reading (such as pull down menus)
If there is anything else, let me know

Very Cool, I have DroidX and wow it looks just like it in the pics! I am going to install this on my dev bravo and check it out.
One note to users, I would not use the services.jar w/o my ROM, the services.jar is deodexed and you cant mix a dedodexed services.jar w/ a non-deodexed framework, you will bootloop.

This is Very Cool Jorgonv!!!
Jorg, is there a way we can get an Odexed version of the "services.jar" file, for those who wish to use the stock rom?
How does it run on the hardware? Any issues so far?
I will probably flash back over to the latest RC and test it out.
Lately, i have preferred staying on the stock Rom, as it seems to score better in Quadrant... (i think maybe because of the deodexing, it needs to do more at start-up, leaving some resources still open, or used.)
Never-the-less, I think the Rom bandroidx has compiled for is is am amazing piece of work, and only the beginning to our list of supported Os versions!!!
I can't wait to load this theme up on the RC.
Will test it out and see how it goes!!
bandroidx,
Do you foresee any work with a complete vanilla gingerbread, or higher, version of android being cooked?
This bootloader situation seems kind of sticky to me, what kind of keywords would you recommend i search for, in efforts to overcome this limitation?
Thanks!!
I love it!

Glad you like it. I've seen some people with the same syncing icon problem and the only solution was to wipe data.
I'm not planning to making it with a circle icon, this theme is only droid x 2.3.
I will be making more themes in the future, possibly with circular battery icons.

I tried to make an odexed version before bandroid's rom came out, but had no success. I could try again
I dont think the odexed version would make the phone run any slower. I am running the rom fine at 1 ghz and no lag. The only difference is the first boot-up after wiping the cache. after that, it boots up at the normal speed

you should read android central's new piece of quadrant benchmarks. real world feel is probably a better indicator and the rom feels faster.
the rom removes bloatware and services that would usually run and waste memory like voice commander nad others, the deodexing if anything should speed things up.
i am starting to think odexing is just a way for a oem to lock things down a little more. but i really dont know too much about beyond the basics.
quadrant can be swayed far too much by IO, and io can be effected so easily in so many ways.
either way, i wouldnt concern yourself too much with quadrant scores when deciding to run the rom or not. quadrant can be a good indicator like when overclocking (and nothing else has changed except clock speed) but when it comes to different rom's I am not sure its as good of an indicator. I do own quadrant advanced though so I can run it on the rom and see what scores differ specifically, i am betting on IO, but who knows.

Swype Beta, or the stock bravo one?
True. I flashed over to rc2, only, and it scored near the same rang as the stock..
I concur with the topic of real world feel, and benchmarks.. Benchmarks can only tell you so much..
Well, my interest is more towards breaking the boot loader moto has placed upon the newer phones.. Do you know of any current projects to defeat this you may be able to link me too?

just sent you the file you requested above...
also, i noted, i will have to try and clear the cache next time i install it, and see if that works...
Thanks Jorgonv!!
I'm having the same clock text color problem for the update, but I already tried re-flashing and that didn't work. I'm going to try doing the cache this time to see if it works.
Edit: After wiping both the Davlik cache and the cache partition I re-flashed, but the clock text didn't change. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I can't figure it out.

Yes I have Rom tool box,it's a great app,but I can't get the themes to install,I'm trying install the rubic but all I get from tool box is stuck at installing,if I power off it reboots into bootloop,I've tryed ninjamorph, the whole process seems to work but then it reboots with the same animations. I've downloaded a metamorphic zip of it,ran metamorph and got bootloop. Tried using zip themer app with the metamorph zip, created a flashable zip. Witch I flashed and got bootloop and had to pull batery, reboot in hboot, boot recovery, then flash the zip themer undo zip.
So if you can tell me how I can get it to stick it would solve my most resent headache
Okay, I use abso/ascension roms with a clean install of ROM toolbox. ROM toolbox Works with cm, of course, so try opening your rom of choice(CM7) with the no oc/uv settings, try turning off the animation speed and transitions in "spare parts"(app) then upload rubix(my fav). Try this and see if it works.
I, sometimes get the same problems as you, I even get alot the mods installed from rom toolbox, and then, bootloop:-( sometimes the font installer makes it bootloop. Try it.
I'm running energy Rom, blue edition. The shift animation installs fine but still no luck with the rubix or the vortex.now when I compare the xml files in my animations folder inside the framework res AOL and the rubix download, there is maybe five or so that are not in the rubix, but they are in the shift animation.do u think that's it or are these just basic xml files that are in all frameworks?
What if I use ninjamorph to interchange the files with rubix, the delete the left over files from my original framework?
I have yet to play with framework, sorry if I led you on. I will learn more about it. The rubix transition works more on CM7 it looks pretty awesome.

Yeah we are trying to fix the search.
I love the cid ironman boot animation thing on the cm9 build. Been looking around and trying and doing the whole media, replacing bootanimation zip, etc...but my cm10 stable keeps crashing.
anyone have any idea where and how this can be done?
well if youre just trying to change the boot anim, you can download rom toolbox (if you dont already own that wonderful app) and either choose from the ones they have, or get the bootanimation.zip from cm9 and do it from the app. works like a charm
***LINKS ARE FIXED***
Decided to make a thread for my boot animations for the Bonestock ROM by AndyBones.
Have to give thanks to @andybones (for a kickass ROM) and @gadget! (for the images). Also thanks to my friend Mike for a couple Photoshop pointers.
Below are all the boot animations I have created so far. Need some more ideas and color options!
Currently working on animating the skull.
The pulsing glow animations look better on the phone than they do on here. Apparently the pulsing preview images dont pulse if you are looking at them on tap a talk.
These are tested on both the S3 and S4 (Pre 4.3).
***S3 users are good to go flashing which ever animation you like. S4 users, if you are on a pre 4.3 BoneStock ROM you are good to go. If on the latest 4.3 BoneStock ROM these are not working. I am going to be finding a solution soon. S4 users on a pre 4.3 ROM will also need to download and flash the file in the S4boot folder in my link (if you have already flashed this just download whichever animation you want and flash it).***
***One link will now take you to all the animations.***
Install instructions:
1. Download animation of your choice
2. Move animation you downloaded to /system/media folder. It will probably ask you to replace the existing one. You can do so if you want or before moving new animation add .bak to end of original one.
3. Set permissions of new animation to rw-r--r--
4. Reboot

Wolfballz, first off, many thanks for making and offering these up. One of the few things I didn't like (and admittedly, its a small thing) about BoneStock was the Nexus boot animation ("huh? why Nexus?") so getting to replace that is awesome. I especially like the pulsating animations.
I must not be doing it correctly though, since I am not showing the newly downloaded boot animation. At first, I wasn't getting any change, but I realized I wasn't setting the permissions correctly. But even after changing permissions to RW-R-R I am still not getting the correct boot animation. Weirdly enough, instead I am getting a generic blue Android one (similar to the one from my HP TouchPad running a 10.1 ROM called OaT 10.1).
here's the steps I have been doing:
1. Downloading the Boot animation file from here. It goes to SD card/downloads.
2. Since it is downloading with a (1) after the file name, I rename it to bootanimation.zip (and it asks me if I want to write over existing one... yes)
3. I use Root Explorer to move the file to system/media, it asks if I want to replace existing one, I say yes.
4. I use Root Explorer to confirm the permissions (RW-R-R).
5. I reboot.
I've tried a few times... keep getting the generic boot animation after the Samsung name, then it goes into BoneStock. I also tried downloading a different boot animation, but same result.
I know it must be a step I am doing or not doing... can you point where I am going wrong? Especially confused since it somehow downloaded a different animation. Thanks in advance!
I think the green one should come stock in the ROM now lol. Looks good bud.

What kernel are you using? If I remember correctly some kernels don't support custom boot animations but i may be wrong. You mentioned that when you download the animation you get a (1) after it. Usually that means you have another file named bootanimation.zip in your download folder. I would start by deleting any bootanimation.zip file in your download folder then re-download one from above. Then go into your /system/media folder and add .bak to end of the current bootanimation.zip in there then copy new one from download folder and paste into /system/media and set permissions. Then boot into recovery and wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot. If that doesnt get it going for you then i'm not sure. You could also try fixing permissions in recovery also. Let me know how it goes and then we can look into it more.

Thanks Wolfballz. I am using the stock kernel that came with BoneStock, so I am guessing its one that does support custom boot animations.
The multiple zips in the download folder may be causing the mixup, so I will try the steps you describe above. Odd though that the stock android animation showed up... is it possible by removing the nexus one included stock in BoneStock it grabbed whatever boot animation it could?
I am guessing worst case I can reflash the ROM one more time, start over with the Nexus boot animation, no?
UPDATE: Success! Thanks for the patient extra instructions. Rocking with the first custom boot animation (Cyan pulsing one).

I would ask Andy if the stock kernel supports custom boot animations. Let me know what he says cause I will update the OP regarding that. I personally have ktoonsez latest kernel for 4.1.2 touchwiz roms. I would try the steps I gave you before going through a whole new reflash.

Yup, the first one (cyan, pulsing). I don't know if wiping cache and dalvic cache was needed but I did anyway. As much as I like the new boot animation, I also appreciate the lesson on installing custom boot animations, so thanks again!

No problem. Glad I could help.
These look really nice!
I was thinking about making a bone stock bootani myself but I've just been too damn busy. Let me know if you need any help making flashable .zips or anything.
Another method for installing a "bootanimation.zip " is to put it in data/local. That way you don't have to set permissions and you won't lose the animation when flashing a new ROM version (unless you wipe data)

Ok so i found something on Lollipop & Marshmallow i figured i'd share with you all.
Do you want the fastest possible Boot Animation?
Do you care really what it looks like?
IF the answer is YES & NO i have the solution for you
It's called the default android boot animation !
It is the word Android spelled out in pulsing white with the newer droid font.
It's the full width of the screen with a black background.
And i noticed it made my phone seem like it was booting faster :good:
So..
How do i get it?
You need root access and you can probably choose what method you want to do it..
The basic idea is to go and rename or remove the BootloaderAnimation.zip
I chose to use RootExplorer to go in and rename the file.
But i bet TWRP or other ways would work too.
Go here.. /System/Media/bootanimation.zip
The newest Marshmallow Animation is almost 10mb so killing it i think does help it boot faster.
Enjoy your NO BootAnimation
I think you can fully disable bootanimation with this command:
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1

in build prop. After that it should fully disable bootanimation (there will be only black screen) but I'm not sure about it because last time I was using this on Android 2.3 but you can give it a try, imo it should work.

Thanks that is interesting got me poking around with the adb console then google.
[Android 2.1+][25.08.2012][v3.0] live dmesg / logcat boot animations [ROOT]
Google that WTF LOL
I also seen some guys who made a BootAnimation that emulates the PC Bios boot ..cool !
I guess i am veering off topic but i didn't know about alternate options.
But this topic had guys discussing your command if people are interested..

worked smootly on Moto E 2015 -resurrection-remix-v5-8-0-t3509463 (Android N 7.1_r7)
(even faster than just rename the bootlogo.zip)
I remember coming across this before in 5.1. Yes it made it faster but, it just looks plain and boring.
