Brand new nexus5, can't get notification LED to work? - Nexus 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I just got my nexus 5 last night. This isn't my first android device so I unlocked and rooted it.
I installed gravity box and everything, and noticed that my led was not blinking for texts. I tried multiple texting apps and the end result is the same...it does not blink.
Now for the funny part - when I use test notifications within evolveSMS the light blinks, just not when I receive any notifications.
Does anyone have any ideas? The led is checked under display settings. I am on stock 4.4.2, with elementalX kernel.
Thank you!

Hmm does it have to do anything with kernel settings? Have you tried your notification LED before on stock kernel? Was it the same??

I'm actually heading home now to check that out. I haven't heard any issues with elementalX kernel though.
I'll keep you posted. Thank you!

Apparently there's an LED that only lights when the battery is too low to power up. I've never seen it.

if you have to have it (I like the active notifications better), you can use the xposed module Gravity Box to cause the buttons to flash with notifications. I'm sure there's other options that do the same though, but you run the risk of losing battery a lot faster (hence the purpose of active notifications)
There's an led on the back that's used with the camera....

I like this answer, and I appreciate it. I also like the fact that you were not rude even though you were really thinking deep down inside that I was too ****ing stupid to know that there was an LED on the back for the camera. :sly:

[Q]Light Flow

Hello guys ,
As youmay understand ,I'm new on Nexus devices.I wanted to use the Notification Light to inform me if there's something new or not.
I saw the Light Manager App which works perfectly . But the Light Flow (lite~premium) doesn't work .I just can't go with it , it looks promising but it doesn't work ,as it doesn't inform me for a notification ,nor if I press the test button ,it Simply doesn't work .
It looks great but it seems that I can't do it .Please someone out there help me or if you could give me your backup it'd be great thanks anyway

If LightManager works perfectly then what are you looking for in Light Flow? I'm using LightManager to control what color the notification light is for each different type of notification. If that's all you want to do then stick with what works.

Because Light Flow looks better and it has many more features ,one of them was Mixing the colours Red,Blue,Green (forgive me if I made a mistake on these colors)

Light Flow works for me but it has bugs. View the help website in the app and go to Nexus 5 page.

Light Flow works for the most part for me.
Only sometimes after SMS gets dismissed, notification seems to keep blinking, though may be a GO SMS thing, not reproduced it consistently enough yet.
I use this to set it up http://www.folioflow.com/ff/page/website/lightflow/pageId/2349
Lightflow worked perfectly on my Nexus 4 but on my 5 it's a little buggy. With the last update a couple days ago it's running much better though. I know the dev is working hard on getting all the bugs worked out and he's getting close. I'm using the paid version and I would recommend it because the developer is very responsive on a few of these threads and is actively working on making it better.

I would make sure your not ruining multiple led managers, they could be overlapping and causing a bug. Not sure if cataclysm Rom comes with some sort of led manager like CyanogenMod but if it does I would turn it off to use your preferred app, I have found that light manager works very well with my nexus 5 and isn't as buggy for me as light flow has been.

i did. twice.
Review last installed applications, maybe one of them is turning the LED on. Try stopping the apps.
Are you using something like lightflow to control the led?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
If your using lightflow sometimes the LED can get stuck like this, just run lightflow app again and that should fix it
Sent from my Nexus 5 using xda app-developers app
I'm not using light flow. But maybe I'll install it see if it will help. Worse case I'll just wipe everything and install again. Thanks for all the input guys

F U Facebook with priority mode!!

Why does Facebook completely ignore priority mode? I have it set up for bo notifications apart from calls at night time and yet every morning when I wake up (or if I wake up in the night) there's a bloody blue flashing light for a Facebook notification!! Anyone know how to stop it?
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
as far as i know priority mode only blocks sounds & vibrations while it keeps the led notification active. while about disabling it i suppose you should dig into facebook settings, hopefully you would find it

I suppose that makes sense then! Although I don't have any sound or vibration set anyway. Just the led. Doh! So unless I use an led control app there's not much else to do

Use light flow and check no led during priority mode.
