Instructions

- To avoid any problems, I suggest you flash coming from Stock ICS or Stock JB...Coming from ICS is easier though ( .31 FW)
- Root your phone and install a recovery ( ICS RECOVERY IN 3RD POST )
NOTE: ICS REVOERY IS DIFFERENT FROM JB RECOVERY ( JB CWM here: Click Here! ) ( Use that if COMING FROM JB otherwise use the ICS recovery )
- Copy the ROM to your SD Card ( External )
- Boot into CWM ( volume down/up button like up-down-up-down )
- Wipe Data/Factory Reset then Wipe Cache Partition
- Navigate to advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Format /system ( ONLY SYSTEM )( V4 and V5 only ) ( no need for V4.1 and Below )
- Install/flash the ROM and install/flash the Rootfix.zip
- Navigate to Advanced and Fix Permissions
- Flash the .31 Kernel provided in downloads
- IF COMING FROM ICS ONLY DO NOT POWER OFF YET !!!!
- Remove Battery then put it back again
- Flash the .31 Kernel ( download in links ) using flashtool ( UNTICK FINAL DATA VERIFICATION )
- Done and Enjoy the ROM
step no 7 Navigate to Advanced and Fix Permission ....after this what should i do? go to reboot or just pull out battery before flashing (flash the .31 on no 8 step) this where i getting confuse

Try both

hmm....look I have not tried this ,the Normal method is to flash kernel and reboot then install rom
So I would recommend u to try both

After "fix permission" I removed the battery and then used flashtool to flash the. 31 firmware.
It worked fine.
Sent from my ST26i using xda app-developers app

Have you try this:
-First install .31 (JB) stock ROM, then install the recovery
-The open the recovery and Wipe Data/Factory Reset then Wipe Cache Partition
-Next, go to advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache
- Format /system and then flash the ROM and the rootfix.zip
-Then fix permissions
Hope it worked on you! Good luck :victory: !

Then in recovery go to advance -> wipe dalvik cache.

I had this similar problem, but I think not the same in cm7.1. Sometimes ringtone rings from phone loudspeaker that means it can be controlled by media volume. But sometimes it came from phone earphone, then it can be controlled by call volume

Do one at a time
Flash XXKPE -> odin (1st step)
Flash DDKP3 -> odin (2nd step)
Flash BAM Kernel V9 Universal -> odin 3rd(please confirm this from kernel thread page)( i havent used bam kernel)
(also check if it comes with CWM)
Factory reset before 1st step is must
wipe dalvik cache, cache after and before first two steps and this last step
Place the zip on your external sd-card -> which zip ?

GALAXY Y Boots only in Stock ROM even after flash

I had rooted my phone, and did use Jelly Blast for a while worked perfect. After a few days I tried installing mods through cwm which led to boot loops. I used odin and got stock ROM for my phone . Now when I tried installing Nemesis ROM, I followed all steps right but though it shows Nemesis boot picture, it still boots into the stock OS.
Update ur cwm version
Flash ur rom again

I have tried the following steps:
1. Odin stock rom: I just have pda,csc and modem. I do not have bootloader and pit.
2. Then went to Recovery and installed CWM
3. Installed custom rom JELLY Blast which previously had no issues. (Before this I wiped data, cache & dalvik)
4. Result - > Stuck on Samsung screen.
After which I cannot get back to any recovery mode anymore, it is stuck on samsung screen. All I have to do is go back to download mode and odin it again. But I really want to be back on custom roms

Hi,
This is not your phone issue alone but any phone can face this. To reproduce this issue, it takes more than what you have mentioned. But the solution comes through if you follow these steps just as listed by me here:
1. Get an older version of official Samsung Firmware (preferably 1 or 2 versions older than the latest one)
2. Flash this using ODIN (if flashing fails at any point via ODIN user an even older Stock Firmware version)
3. If you can boot into the Rom fine, reboot to its Stock Recovery
4. From Stock recover, start the CWM.zip that you have (version 5 or 6 whichever lets you load fine, does not matter at this point)
5. When inside CWM, go into Advanced and select "Fix Permissions"
6. Only after you have fixed permissions, go ahead and do the Wipes in the order below
7. Wipe Dalvik Cache, Wipe Cache, Wipe Data
8. Once this is done, load the custom ROM you want to install from this CWM session
9. After install, when you go for reboot, see if you get any option that says something like "prevent from flashing stock recovery" or so, say yes to it.
This should fix any permission issue that may be preventing you to get to your favorite ROM from stock ROM.
Let me know if this helps or if I can help you further.
Glad if this helped you in any way !
NOTE: THIS IS GENERIC AND NOT SPECIFIC TO ANY ONE PHONE MODEL.

For a while, I wasn't sure if scott.hart.bti even made a CM10.0 ROM. According to the changelog in this link, one existed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1776129
Unfortunately, all that is available now is CM 10.1 and 10.2. 10.0 may have been removed because it seems (based on the Q&A thread), CM10 used 4.1.1 (the version affected by Heartbleed), not 4.1.2.
If you want to stick with CM 10.x, I would recommend 10.1. Here is the process (from Gingerbread):
Obtain CWM, this can be done using Jscotts Odin back to stock (Follow instructions and use SGS kernal flasher to obtain CWM)
Run Qksters IMEI backup script here
Make certain you are on ICS, this can be done by flashing Entropy's CM9
It is recommended now that you remove your SD Card
CWM: Wipe Cache / Factory Reset
Install ROM: Scroll down for downloads section
... The package will start to install..
... Phone will reboot into the install screen again...
... Continue to install [Automatically] If not manually flash again

I am assuming you already have Slim Bean installed. Here's the thread to download:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=34430995
To update, all you really need to do is download the final image, save it to the SD card, flash it with CWM/TWRP then clear the dalvik cache.
Don't think there is a need to flash gapps as well since you are not factory resetting in this case. Unless your current version of Slim Bean is not 4.2.x, then you will need gapps (and even then a factory reset would be recommended).
If you are looking to install from scratch, the guide above (in my previous post) is pretty standard (looks to be the same was what is provided in the link).

No kernel necessary. Just need CWM to start with (can access by performing the "three-finger-salute" - that is, while holding both volume keys, press the power button), and flash (install from zip) Entropy's CM9 with it's respective gapps. That will bring you to ICS and the right version of CWM (Blue I think). You are free to then flash Slim Bean.
Hope this explains better.

On what rom are you currently at? Is your bootloader UNLOCKED?
If you are on stock ( NOTE: YOU NEED JELLY BEAN 4.2.2 TO INSTAL CUSTOM KITKAT ROMS!!!) then you will need to instal a program which is called FLASHTOOL into your computer.
You will need this in case your phone gets soft bricked or you want to implement fresh kernel installation on your device.
You will need to flash latest clockwork recovery in order to flash newly updated ROMS. (example are THUNDERZAP 4.6 or PHANTOM kernels)
NOTE: Before procceding put your downloaded CUSTOM ROM (ZIP.file) in your internal storage.
After installing kernel, reboot your phone and when the LED light start showing on the bottom of your phone start pressing (or one long press) the volume UP key. Then you will enter into recovery mode.
True there navigate the menu true up/down volume keys.
Go and do CLEAN INSTALL/FACTORY RESET.
Find your CUSTOM ROM file....and flash it!
Reboot your phone and let it load the freshly new installed KK 4.4.4 on your device.
After you set up your phone you will need one more thing.... Ggapps (google apps)
Look up Gapps for KitKat 4.4.4.....download them and flash them true recovery.
That woud be it.....
And can you provide the download links for TWRP, Kernal and Graphics glitches?

I am currently on the stock ROM given by Sony which is 4.2.2 and the Build no. if 15.3.A.1.17
My bootloader is not unlocked. But my phone is rooted.
And can I make a backup of my entire phone before unlocking bootloader?
And can you provide the download links for TWRP, Kernal and Graphics glitches?
And the procedure for installation of these files would be very much helpful.
I searched for these files but was unable to find it.

Thank you for the links you provided for the kernels.
If you have the Links of TWRP and Graphics Glitches that would be wonderful.

Unlock your bootloader first.
Then download flastool program.
Then just flash any kernel and you will have CWM/TWRP.... ( the TWRP is in the custom kernel!)
You dont need graphical glitches fix because its all been fixed in newest versions of the roms.
