First of all. Thank to byrdmang2 as he helped me out to achieve this.
Honestly i think that the softkeys embeded in the screen is a waste of screen area. So i like them smaller. Here's a screenshot of the final result. This guide is for KitKat, i guess you can make it work on 4.2.2 with GravityBox for JB.

What you need:
- Moto x (obviously)
- ROOTED
- Xposed Framework
- Gravity Box Module
1) Backup your current ROM in custom recovery.
2) Download Xposed Framework here:
http://dl.xposed.info/latest.apk (original thread in http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/framework-xposed-rom-modding-modifying-t1574401) I recommend you to read the whole post.
3) Install it and reboot.
4) Download Gravity box here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/app-gravitybox-v2-9-1-tweak-box-android-t2554049 (download in the 2nd post, still read the whole post)
5) Install it and reboot
6) Open gravity box and go to "Navigation Bar Tweaks"
7) Turn the Master Switch ON and enable navigation bar.
8) In the bottom there's a section named "Dimensions" there you can set the height and width (my setting is in 65% but you can make it as small as you like)
9) Reboot
10) Enjoy!

Yup. This is what I do as well. I edit the build.prop file and take the navigation keys completely out. Then I install LMT Pie controls. Although, in the past it was always a PITA doing a factory reset because the navigation keys don't come back. I did however remedy that with creating a flashable zip of LMT that can be done via TWRP. It restores your Pie controls as you had them set.
good tip i will make a guide of how to add the menu button in nav bar of stock rom editing the SystemUI
It's actually fairly easy. All you do is add the line: "qemu.hw.mainkeys 1" to the build.prop and it removes the Nav keys.
I've been using Build Prop Editor from the Play Store for a few years now and it works well.
So, if you are using that app it would look like this:
Property Name = qemu.hw.mainkeys
Property Vaule = 1
Then save it and reboot your phone. Just remember if you do a factory reboot or take an update you will lose your PIE controls and will need to remove the "1" and change it to a "0" to get your Nav keys back. Or, do like I did and use App2Zip and make LMT Pie Controls flashable so you can restore them via recovery. Otherwise you'll need to redownload and reinstall it.
thanks a lot, looks great at 65%

Yes but it should be MAINkeys not keys as you have written, at least thats what I needed to do to get it to work.

Oh, I see. Yeah, in the first line of my post I have it as "mainkeys" and then when I broke it down line by line later on in the post it just says "keys". I'll correct it.

Do you want to reboot and your rom doesn't have that shortcut?
Do you want to enter the recovery and you don't want to enter the line manually into the terminal?
Do you want to enter your bootloader to use fastboot and there is no way reboot into it?
Be afraid no more! This simple application gives you 3 shortcuts to do all these tasks without having to type it into command lines. You just need root permissions and you're good to go!!!
It only does what it's advertised, nothing else.
Can't be easier than this.

Can you make me a simple reboot app with no option to reboot in to the recovery, no shutdown, no confirm, no wait for countdown.
I just want an reboot app that can be run through another app, app run > phone reboot. No need widget or UI, just an app with icon in app drawer and when i click that icon, boom, phone reboot without asking for confirm or else.
I use LG L3 res 320x240 on 2.3.6 stock, and yes,my phone is rooted.Sorry for bad english.

And reboot to download mode for Samsung. su -c "reboot download"
Any chances I could have the .apk for it? My nexus 4 power button is gone, and I flashed cm12 but the gapps failed to install. Now I'm the ROM but no way to boot to recovery. I don't have play services nor play store so I can't install via my browser. Any help??
Edit: Got it with adb. I don't know where to delete this post.
New update:
v4p10
1 - Add Soft Reboot option to reload the UI without hard rebooting the device
2 - Add option to reboot into Safe Mode
3 - Now sending a system broadcast that the device is going to reboot so that it safely flushes any outstanding data for a clean reboot operation
4 - Decrease the priority of the background threads of each request to prevent any type of starvation
5 - Fixed one FC that could be triggered if a View was null for some weird reason

I get a "Values not applied. Unclean shutdown, values not applied" from NoFillsCPUControl when I reboot using SimpleReboot as installed from the PlayStore on my N5 under AOSP. I'm running PHH's su, if that makes a difference.
When I install the app directly to /system/app (create folder, copy APK, rename, permissions, etc.) everything works as expected with no "unclean shutdown" error.
Should this be happening?
Well, it was working. Now I'm getting the "Values not applied. Unclean shutdown, values not applied" with it put in system as well. I get a toast from su letting me know it's given permission. I can open a terminal and type "su -c 'svc power shutdown'" or "su -c 'svc power reboot'", and it (very) quickly works and returns without error.
I got soft keys working fine on a CM10 rom, but one thing is the Menu button doesn't work when in apps like it should. It can be pressed but no reaction. Same with remapping Recent Apps hard key to Menu. Any ideas?

It shows up in all the apps that normally need menu like Tapatalk.
I have wiped data, cache, dalvik, etc, rebooted. I've given up soft-keys for now... the main issue is that this phone was never bothered to be given the function for MENU mapped to a button I guess since it didn't come with one.

It gets automatically disabled if you boot with soft-keys enabled sadly. Same rom with unmodded framework has that option. Meaning that the function is there... just not mapped to what 'menu' should be. I can see why they never bothered, but coming from soft-key phones I miss it a lot

Enabling is easy enough, using Apk Manager or APK Tool you decompile framework-res.apk. Inside /res/values/bools.xml is a line mentioning
"showNavigationBar = false" you change this "false" to "true" and re-compile the framework-res.apk.
Disabling hard keys is commenting out and/or deleting the lines in the /system/usr/keylayout/ files that mention HOME, SEARCH, BACK, and MENU.
Disabling backlights requires a script. I run an init.d script I found on these forums to do it since the HTC One S is different from the normal way and have to do it on every boot.
Code:
#!/system/bin/sh
# call userinit.sh and/or userinit.d/* scripts if present in /data/local
chmod 666 /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness
echo 0 > /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness
chmod 444 /sys/class/leds/button-backlight/max_brightness
As I said before though, MENU refuses to work for some reason. I switched back to hardkeys until someone else can take a look than knows more than I.

Hi guys
Came back to xda after long times
Sorry to all my fans
If you like my work do please hit thanks
Now it is a very bad truth that core 2 will never ever get a lollipop official upgrade as its hardware is not going to support lollipop.
So i thought to provide my fans a bit long but trusted way to get a lollipop look,feel,performance on their lazy kitkat devices.
Lets get start
I SUPPOSE THAT YOU HAVE A ROOTED DEVICE. if not then check out my previous guides.
YOUR DROID HAVE ATLEAST 80 % BATTERY.
AND YOU HAVE NO BRAIN
with all this things you arevready to go.
Folllow me boys step by step
1 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP LAUNCHER
for this we are going to use NOVA LAUNCHER. You can use any lollipop styled launcher for yourself.
Firstly go to es file explorer and onnnnnn the root explorer option.
Then copy the nova launcher apk and past it to /system/priv-app.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like thisView attachment 3431496
After doing that just delete the default launcher apk and odex file from same folder.
Reboot device and you get the lollipop launcher.
2 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP KEYBOARD
for this we are going to use latinimegoogle keyboard.
Firstly go to es file explorer and onnnnnn the root explorer option.
Then copy the apk and past it to /system/app.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like thisView attachment 3431496
Then copy the lib and past it to /system/lib.
After pasting long press it and on right bottom click three dot symbol.head on to permissions and just diasble all exicutable and Botton two write permissions like
thisView attachment 3431496
After doing that just delete the default samsung keyboard apk and odex file from same folder.
Reboot. After rebooting go to settings of keyboard as usually and go to advance section there you will find that material theme option.choose material theme for lollipop look.
Apk and lib files are on this link
Apk https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByZiuaK2U388UTQ0dkJlc2RaZ2c/view?usp=docslist_api
Lib https://drive.google.com/file/d/0ByZiuaK2U388ZGZVMFFrVk03RFU/view?usp=docslist_api
3 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP LOCKSCREEN
just follow all instructions which you used for launcher.but you do nat have any specific apk for lockscreen in samsung devicea so you do not need to delete any apk.
Download any lockscreen from market of your choice.
Make shure you have changed file permissions.
4 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP NOTIFICATIONS
all love heads up notification.
For that you need to download two akp
Xposed installer and its module " heads up notifier" both are in apk form so for both files follow the same instructions as launcher but again you do naot have to delete any apk at last.
Remember the correct permissions.
After rebooting just open xposed framwork and click on modules and enable the notifier module.come back to main menu and click framework and click on install and it will ask for rebooting.after reboot younwill have heads up notifications enabled.
5 - UPGRADING CORE 2 DISPLAY
now a bit different thing.
Open es file explorer and navigate to /system/build.prop.
Open this file.
Tap on the pencil on right top.
Now you will see a line ending with 4.4.2 just change it to 5.2.0
There are two lines saying ro.sf.lcd_density 240 change the value to 200 in both the lines
There are lines like
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=5m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=68m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=94m
Change them to
dalvik.vm.heapstartsize=10m
dalvik.vm.heapgrowthlimit=68m
dalvik.vm.heapsize=256m
Done save changes and reboot
Your device now is mostly like lollipop and you have a 20% boosted performance device which eats less battery when in power saving mode.
6 - UPGRADING LOLLIPOP STATUS BAR ICONS
You can download xstana module of xposed installer.install it on your device and tap on notification in status bar after rebooting open the app and choose which style you want.
Follow the same launcher guide above but you dont have to delete any app.
NOW FOR IF YOU WANT TO HAVE A NAVIGATION BAR IN YOUE DEVICE YOU HAVE TO EDIT YOUR BUILD.PROP AND ADD A LINE AT ITS END
qemu.hw.mainkeys = 0
After saving fild just reboot and you will get mavigation r right at botton.
This is a screen shot of my device

Prerequisites
- Device with unlocked bootloader, with TWRP Recovery and Root
Steps
1) Download here
http://www103.zippyshare.com/v/sS8EF2Cm/file.html
the Xposed framework compatible with Zenfone 3
2) Download here
http://www55.zippyshare.com/v/YWm75uNz/file.html...
the apk of Xposed app that is need that you install immediately
3) After that, flash the Xposed framework by TWRP recovery and restart the device
4) When restart the phone, go into the Xposed app, then Downloads section and research the module named "Flat Style Bar Indicators". Install it, activate it with the check mark in the Modules section and restart the Zenfone. On restart, launch this application and buy the pro version, then go through a file manager in the path data/com.bocharov.xposed.fsbi/backups (create it if don't exists), and paste in it this file
http://www44.zippyshare.com/v/pWWyLwNo/file.html
5) Go back in Flat Style app and select a restore from backup using the previous file added.
Magically you will see the status bar change from the original (and characterized by very old style) of ZenUI to that of material design !!!
Now we must add the soft touch buttons in material style (colored ones available on the latest version of Android, namely 7.0 Nougat)
To do this
1) Install the apk of Root Explorer version 4.0.2 at this link
http://it.apkhere.com/app/com.speeds...e.rootexplorer
2) Open Root Explorer, go in the system folder and open the build.prop file with the text editor; search the string called
# [ASUS BSP] Nancy - ZE552KL default disable touch navbar
persist.asus.enable_navbar = 0
qcom.hw.aac.encoder = true
and change the value from 0 to 1; then save appropriately the modified file.
4) Now you need to give the right permissions to the file; just keep pressing on the file, then up, about the options that will appear on the file, click on the three vertical dots and then Permissions. You have to set it up as follows
5) Reboot your phone and you should find the soft touch buttons but those of ZenUI; don't worry and go in the Xposed app and from the Download section search the module named "Nougat Navigation Bar"; install and then activate it with the check mark from the Section Modules, then again restart the device.
Then finally you should also find the soft touch keys in Material style !!!
If you want, in addition, also disable the physical home hardware keys follow this simple step
Go into Downloads section of Xposed app and research the module named "Xposed Additions". Install it, activate it with the check mark in the Modules section and restart the Zenfone. On restart, launch this application and go in Buttons section; Here click on "Add new Key" and, when you see the screen popup, click on any of the three hardware keys and then confirm with ok. Now go into the rule that you have created (that will bring the name of the button that you have pressed) and click on "Add New Condition"; Click on "Screen On" and then, in subrule that appears, put the check mark on the options "Click" and "Long Press". Repeat the same thing for the state "Screen Off" and "Lock Screen" always clicking on "Add new condition". Now you must only repeat the whole procedure again for the other two hardware buttons on the home and you you will have disabled all of them!
Sorry OOT, ehat is the font name on the screenshoot above ?
Hello Guys, this Guide is for those who are on Beta Miui Rom,Eu ane Miui pro Rom (May work on stable ROMs) and want Full Screen Display or On-Screen Navigation Bar for your Redmi Note 4 or other Mi phones
DISCLAIMER: :angel: I will not responsible if anything goes wrong like bricked or bootloop of your mobile due to your stupidity

In the end of that file there will be following four lines:
key 158 BACK

key 217 SEARCH
Add a '#' before each line so it would look like this:
#key 158 BACK
#key 139 MENU

Are you sure that this works on MIUI Global Stable ROM also?
How to disable fullscreen guesture with on screen navigation button back to original setting?
How to get these full screen gestures in aosp extended rom?

Restore the original build.prop file. Or edit your current build.prop file using the same method and remove the line that you have added.

You can request this feature from the developers of AEX ROM.

Only remove the one that you added yourself.
Don't change anything that was already present before you tempered with it. ?

I have removed added line from build prop but still there is a back guesture. Without any option in setting.

Guys this feature is only present on beta MIUI and other custom MIUI rom based on latest beta...not on stable MIUI. And this feature is hidden on phone with hardware keys. it is going to be visible by editing build.prop like OP described.
So if u on stable MIUI don't expect this feature to work for u.
