Try listing the partitions of your sdcard to see if there are any unnalocated space with "list partition" or "detail disk"
..............
list disk
select disk
clean
create partition
Sent from my A116 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
not working still
same result as i see in Gparted in linux, only 30MB, no other space anywhere
Where you able to fix it? I have a 64gb SD card that also shows as 30mb, I cant afford to lose a 64gb sd card!!
Thanks
are you sure this isn't a fake upgraded sd card? very common in the market
Same thing: 16 gb => 15 mb

The file format in order for the Samsung to read it must be Fat32, it's not the most efficient file partition setup, however Samsung does not read anything other than that right now, the card is probably formatted in some other type of format like NTFS. Search on the Samsung S3, using "Format SD Card", or something with SD Format in the search and you will find there are a bunch of apps for formatting the card for the Samsung.
Hope this helps

Completely untrue (it has to be FAT32 for CWM to read it, but not for the phone).
I porposefully DO NOT format my 64 gig cards to FAT32 as I have movie rips that are over 4 gigs & FAT32 will not allow over a 4 gig file size.
I have two 64 gig cards & both work fine just as they came out of the box.

so, why isnt vista recognizing my card? I also just noticed something as well..vista has started seeing the card but under computer settings it says ricoh sd device, but my other micro sd cards says secure digital storage device. I may have messed this card up popping it in and out of every device i could find..lol
update: I put it in my rezound and wiped the micro sdcard and i think thats why its saying ricoh storage device instead of secured digital storage device..If so will it harm or diminish the performance of the card?

Don't worry dude. I got a bad one myself. Got halfway through transferring all my data and then the card stopped transferring and hasn't worked since. Tried to nuke and boot it, HP format tool, fedora Linux, two different phones and nothing.
I just called and they are shipping me a new one. Since it will be a couple days I might mess with this one just hoping.
Edit: Something that shouldn't have changed anything. I put it in my htc rezound with amon ra, did usb toggle mode, and formatted, and it worked fine....stupid!

exfat is not compatible with cwm recovery...if you plan on running any rom other than stock, you will need to format as fat32.
Cool, thanks... I just want to make sure as to what im seeing when i pop the card in and hit format. the program is showing E:29, what exactly does that mean? It doesnt give me an option to go any higher

Yes, that's what it means. Download EaseUS partition manager. Format the card with that. The guiformat program didn't work for me, kept coming up as sd card damaged.

So I understand you want you files and the card to work on the phone?
The phone supports FAT32 file system, if i'm not mistaken so you should format it to that.
Does a pc read the files on the card? Cause if so, then first copy them to you pc and after formatting back on the card.

Does the pc see the card and tell you it needs to be formatted or doesn't it even show on your pc?
If it doesn't even show up, you could be talking about a broken reader of your computer or a broken card.
If it shows up but you can''t acces, than it might be recoverable.

Please confirm that you had done an "eject" SD card from the MAC to unmount the SD card properly. This is the same as "Safe to Remove Hardware" for Windows. If not ejected (unmounted) properly, the next time you use it on another device, it may not be recognisable. If this is the case, simply insert the SD card back to the MAC and then eject it.
Otherwise, you can try re-initialise/re-formatting to FAT32 using software tools. Your phone recognises SD cards formatted in FAT32. If you format it with a MAC, it will not be in FAT32.
First, you can try formatting by using software for for SD cards, SDFormatter 4.0 - download from:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/
If that does not work, use a partition manager to re-partition and format to FAT32.
1. MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition - download from:
http://download.cnet.com/MiniTool-Partition-Wizard-Home-Edition/3000-2094_4-10962200.html
2. EaseUS Partition Master 9.2.2 - download from:
http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Partition-Master-Free-Edition/3000-2248_4-10863346.html
Hope this helps.

If you have a Mac, use the Disk Utility app (you can find it in the Applications/Utilities folder) for format the SD card.
After doing that you should be able to read and write the card on the phone, Mac or Windows without problems:
1. On your Mac, connect the card
2. Open Mac HD on your desktop
3. Open Applications
4. Open Utilities
5. Open Disk Utility
6. On the left you should see the hard drive listed. It should show the drive size with a second indented line beneath it that shows the volume of the drive.
7. Click "Erase" at the top of the screen.
8. Select MS DOS(FAT) File System for the volume format option.
9. Change the name of the drive if desired.
Click "Erase" at the bottom of the screen. You will get a warning and will need to click "Erase" again.

Hi Guys, I did a stupid thing last night and unplugged my SD card from the computer whilst wiping data on the card as it took ages to progress and I thought the application hung up. The sd card does appear mounted on the computer with the adapter but cannot access it. I used the following program to wipe data: easeus partition master. I wiped data(Tried at least) because I had issues with mounting the sd card on my nexus 5 with usb otg using stickmount. Edit: I've already formatted the sd card to fat32 days ago.

You cant do any of that on a non USB mass storage . You probably messed the driver and need to reinstall it again and maybe reflash cache.img to fix storage if the phone is softbricked.
Don't use any 3rd party desktop software to handle the storage in the nexus 5. direct access via explorer is all you need and cmd for adb and fastboot.
Hello,
did you try to reactivate the sd card with eg. gparted under Linux ? This tool is my first choice when it comes to editing partition information.
You don´t need to have a linux distribution installed, simply grab yourself a gparted live cd and you´re good to go :good:

Yes, Agree. Easeus is good but its only as good as windows so if you're having trouble mounting and formatting the sdcard in Windows, try gparted.
If that doesn't work, you could have screwed the sdcard. Luckily they're really cheap nowadays

this sd card 8gb is not mine it was to my friend brother(it won't be detected by his phone) and he just gave it to me and here i am trying to repair it (so i know nothing about this sd card )
all i know is that it's detected by my computer and it work fine but isn't detected at ll if mounted in any android phone (tried on lg k10 2017 and samsung s5) i don't think it's dead since it work fine on pc
here's what i tried to repair it :
windows fat32 format
hdd low format tool
chkdsk (show no error)

Just reformat it

In your post, you mentioned FAT32 which is clearly not "FAT" (FAT16 if you want).

it's an 8gb sd card and from what i've read on internet it's impossible to format it to FAT16
and i don't have the option to format it to FAT in windows format utility i can only format it to NTFS-FAT32-exFAT

Right, my bad!
Well, maybe it's an hardware issue with the SD Card. If it doesn't get detected by any phone but in PC, I don't have an explanation to that.
Let's wait and see if someone else has another idea.

while searching on the web for a solution i found someone with the same problem and someone answered that maybe a partition on the sd card is damaged and that the pc still can detecte it but don't read the damaged parte while the phones just can't detecte it
the probleme is that it Chkdsk and EaseUS Partition Master sector check show no problem

In case of multiple partitions, EaseUS software would have shown you all of them.

I had this problem a few years ago with my Samsung tab 3 and the solution that worked for me was formatting your micro SD card inside your phone, this automatically formats it to FAT 32. See if that works.
Also did you try another android device besides your current one
