hey everyone , I was wondering if someone can put me through the steps to enable recovery in KitKat, I already went from JB rooted and tried to upgrade to dr87's kitkat recovery enabled ROM. I kept getting white lines when the screen turned off so I had to restore my old ROM. My question is is there anyway to get rid or the white lines or a better alternative to get kitkat stock rom with recovery on the d801.
here is dr87 ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2673736
if it works for you be sure to thank him!
Thanks

Hi All,
I have read the stickies, trolled through dozens of threads and posts, but I can't seem to get a definitive answer to my problem / question.
Current status:
TWRP 2.2.2.0 installed
Unlocked Bootloader
Custom JB Kernel [JB Unsecured I think??] installed
JB Odexed Custom ROM Installed
Hboot 1.14.0002 on device
My question is this:
I want to go back to stock JB or as close to it as possible. The current JB ROM is supposed to be stock, but is a little buggy, in that the stock dialler does not have smart dial, and some other small annoyances [all credit to the dev though, fantastic job!!]
Anyone willing to help me out?
Oh, and for some reason my adb / fastboot drivers are acting up [device not detected, although was working fine a couple of days ago before I started flashing roms!], so I'll need to fix these first somehow!
Tanks
D
What custom ROM are you on? You sure its a custom, and not the stock rooted odexed JB ROM?
If you are really on a custom, just flash a stock rooted JB ROM from Development. I don't see a benefit in installing an official OTA or RUU.
Hello guys.. I would be grateful if any of you could help me with your thoughts regarding this matter...
For security reasons I prefer flashing stock recovery and locking down the boot loader after I settle on a custom rom/kernel combo. Been doing this for a while and I dont mind building my phone up from the scratch when I change ROM.
With CM 10.1 stable coming up.. I think I'll finally switch to 4.2 in a few weeks time. I read on the forums that the file system change in 4.2 doesn't play nice with 4.1 recoveries and ends up creating duplicate folders all over the place. Now... I'll surely use latest CWM or TWRP to flash CM 10.1 but later... when I flash the stock recovery (v3e, i think the latest for our device) just to lock down my device- is there any possibility that my system would get messed up? As the latest stock recovery for Nexus S was released with 4.1.2 it isn't supposed to be compatible with 4.2.2 roms technically.
..enlighten me please! with my little knowledge, i'm unable to work it out in my head
Hey guys, I've seen this issue before yet I've tried everything in a few threads now but have no idea what is happening,I have tried using search function yet no solution has fixed my problem.
Problem:
When installing custom ROMs the installation goes fine. I put the ROM on the sdcard, follow instructions for flashing e.g wipe data/cache etc and then flash GAPPS. However I get stuck on the boot logo of every ROM. I've tried both TWRP and CWM recoveries, both with no luck. Also tried not flashing GAPPS and just trying to flash the ROM to no avail.
Current state of phone:
The phone is currently running stock firmware via downloading factory image and flashing in boot-loader : stock boot, recovery, system image etc
The phone works fine when rooted on stock firmware. E.g no custom rom yet rooted.
Could really do with some help guys, any ideas?

same problem simple solution another user informed me of.
simply donwgrade to 4.3 JB stock rom through fastboot. Then you are able to flash a custm rom from the 4.3 stock rom.
Its crazy i have to do this but it worked for me, now im running the xperience rom which is a rom based on 4.4.2 kk.
the 4.3 android stock firmwares are linked somewhere in the FAQ's as well as the guide to ffastboot lash it.
peace.

Hey man, worked a charm thanks!
For users who may have the same problem:
After flashing 4.3 onto the device it did NOT boot.
- However I then went into the bootloader flashed custom recovery, I used cwm.
- Then I went into recovery, used adb to push the rom and gapps onto sdcard
- Full wipe and then installed rom. Then installed gapps
Working fine.
Cheers chairsz :good::good:
Hi Everybody!
In first place thanks to everybody that reads this thread. Thanks for taking your time.
I upgraded my N8010 to the latest firmaware (4.4.2).
I have rooted and istalled a custom recovery (CWM 6.0.4.6) and installed Gnabo V.7 rom.
I am not particularly keen on TouchWiz, and I would like to move away from it.
Gnabo room (as it currenly is) reboots randmomly, and I also experience problems with my emaîl settings. (have to reconfigure sometimes...)
The issue is that after the new bootloader, it seems to be impossible to install any custom rom that is not TouchWiz 4.4.2 based.
I think that if sombedy could list the options that we have for roming, after the stock 4.4.2 update, this would really help.
Thanks again in advance.

Update rom
Here is what I did so far:
Stock N8010 on 4.1.2
Upgrade stock to 4.4.2
Root with Chainfire method (over ODIN)
Instal Philz Recovery
Install CM 11 unofficial rom that led to brick
Unbrick by flashing over odin 4.4.2 firmaware from sammobile
Reroot and CWM recovery 6.0.4.6.
Install Stockish rom 4.4.2 that led to brick --> sorted by backup with CWM recovery
Install OMNI rom --> Success!! only issue is to non boot over charging.
SO... OMNI rom seems to work.
See If I can try another one!
