Hiding the unread msgs in notification bar - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all,
I generally use applock to lock all my messaging related apps & few others too.
But how do I hide the messages in the notification bar drop down list? Locked or unlocked, we can see a great deal of unread messages in the notification drop down list.
Any help to hide it will be deeply appreciated.
Thanks & Regards,

There should be a button like this one:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
that removes everything that can be removed in the notification bar.
but if the messages keep poping up, check the app that is creating them, sometimes they have an option to lower the frequency or to disable at all the notifications.

The Xposed Module NotifyClean might be what you seek.

No, if the mobile is with you then its not a problem.
But what if you give your mobile to a friend by locking using Applock & ppl msg u in whatsapp or messaging & everything pops up in the notification drop down list. What to do then to hide them all?

I want the notifications, its not that.
But I want it to say "XYZ has messaged you" or "XYZ has messaged you in whatsapp"
But not the content of the message for people to look, even when my apps are locked down & couldn't be opened.
& about the xposed installer, it requires root. Is there any mod or any app that hides the message content on unrooted mobiles?

[Q] Hide Notification From Status Bar (But Not From Notification Drawer)

Pretty much the title.
There are certain icons (namely 3G Watchdog) that I want to not be on the status bar, but still visible if I open the notification drawer. Yes, I'm aware of the "hide icon" feature in 3G Watchdog, but that doesn't actually hide the icon, all it does is make the icon image blank. Android still reserves a space on the status bar for that icon, which leads to some ugly gaps like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
I'm using CyanogenMod 10, if that matters. And yes, I'm aware of CM10's feature allowing you to completely hide notifications from certain apps, but that would remove the notification from the notification drawer, which is not what I want. Think Google Now and its weather notification, except with me being able to apply that function to whatever app I want.
I dislike bumping, but it's been a few months and I still need an answer.
I've since upgraded to CM10.1 if that matters.
I have the same question
I'm currently using NilS notifications and have no need for app notifications to show on the status bar. It's very annoying having these notifications remain after I've already read/acted upon them. Is there any status bar mod which will hide app notifications from the bar itself? I don't care if it just makes app icons in the status bar black so they appear to be invisible. It's fine if notifications still end up in the drawer.
I've looked everywhere and tried some alternate status bar apps. The issue I've had with the alternate status bars is they've all ended up being a mask and when you pull the drop down, the alternate bars covered half of the clock and clear all button. If anyone know of any apps that won't do that, please let me know as well.
I understand Android doesn't currently allow 3rd party apps to clear status bar notifications. From what I've read, this will be changing in 4.3 but I just can't take it anymore. Any legitimate advice would be appreciated.
also on CM10.1

This could help, I was looking through posts for the same problem and have seen this, as no one has replied or helped you I will reply to this (kind of old thread)
http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...us-bar-notifications-with-notification-clean/
Sorry to bring an old thread back, but anyone knows if this is possible? I would love to move Tasker notification to the drawer to free up space in the status bar.
Thanks,
Vic.
This is still very much an issue. I'm having this problem with the Quickly app - does exactly the same thing. Android still reserves the space for the icon even when invisible...

[APP][4.3+] Frozen LED - Manage your notification LED colors by app or by contact

"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

}
Manage your LED notification light fast and easily. No more trying to guess which app or which person demands your attention with random colors.
Features:
Select color by app or by text. Your favorite contacts can have their own color no matter which app they use to contact you.
Handle missed called.
Fine tune blinking speed for each notification.
Lightweight, almost no memory and battery footprint.
This app makes use of Android's 4.3 Notification Listener and thus it must be enabled under Device Settings > Security > Notification Access. It cannot access the internet so your personal data is absolutely safe.
I did all the testing on a Nexus 4 but it should work on any device with a LED. Contact me if something goes wrong on another device.
Thanks for giving it a look!
Totally cool

Thanks! Feel free to send me any suggestions you might have.
Looks promising. Thanks. Can you assign different colors to different Gmail accounts?

I am using the notification toast text to determinate contact names (the text that briefly appears across your status bar when a notification is posted). I never tried multiple gmail accounts, if each account appears in the toast text you can use the 'Text & Contacts' feature to have different colors.
Otherwise it needs special treatment (with extra permissions), I could add this if there is demand.
I tried it on a Nexus 4 (no custom rom, no nothing. I have no apps that interfere with the notification LED), and it's not working correctly. I set Gmail to red and the led still lights up white.

I have fixed that, expect an update this weekend!
Any news on fixing issues surrounding Nexus 4 stock roms? I really want to use this app but it's just not working for me at the moment. Test notifs work fine, but when it actually comes down to real notifs they just don't work.

Try this:
Go to settings
Search for notification in the search bar
Head to Notification Access in the search result
Go to App Notifications > (Your App)> Block all :good:

hi, thanks for replying .. if i block all app notifications, the app is nor longer working in background ..
Have a look here-
http://android.stackexchange.com/qu...-by-me-running-in-the-background-continuously
This can help the apps running in background when notification is off. However they still can still get killed,as the permanent way is to have a persistent notification. Also I read somewhere that system apps are given much higher priority but I wouldn't recommend making some 3rd party app a system app. [emoji4] .

If the app is encrypted with app password, you can't see the notification content.

What does this setting mean?

Yesterday I was looking for a way to customize my notifications a bit more because I'm missing some features from my Mi A2 Lite (Android 10 - Android One) like notification priority, silent notifications (those that go to the bottom of the notifications list), minimizing notifications (so that they take less space), hiding individual icons in the status bar while keeping the notification (for persistent notifications) and I bumped into this setting.
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
The default setting was "Notifications".
I've searched everywhere but I can't find any relevant info about it , does anyone know what this does?
Also, does anyone know if those features are in MIUI?
This setting currently does nothing no matter what you set it to. It will go back to default "Notifications" after you receive a few messages. It's a remnant from Android O Adaptive Notifications which is already implemented by default in MIUI 12.

Great, thanks. It went back to "Notifications" as you said.
do you have any idea if the features I mentioned are completely stripped away in MIUI or can I find them somehow?
I tried looking for the options you mentioned above and they either don't exist or will need some kind of external app to manage them.
Max I could find are the default MIUI Notification options when you long press the app and select App Info and then dive through the various categories there. None of which seem to be clear with what they do or are redundant with many of the same options overlapping.

Great, thanks for checking it out. I looked everywhere too but they skinned away all the cool customization.
