[Resolved] Color Distortion on 10 bit x264 videos - MX Player

Hello,
I'm using 10-bit x264 for encoding. For decoding, I'm using MX Player with custom codec with software decoding.
In a movie, there is a text overlay (it's a TV recording). This text should be white coloured. At a PC, the playback is fine.
At a android device, there are black dots on the white text, like "pepper". Tested on several systems.
Because I'm a new user, I'm not allowed to post links. Test movie (2MB) is here: (write http: in front)
//akapuma.info/test/pepper.mkv
Can somebody help me?
Best regards

Yes, here is my screenshot (I'm not allowed to link pictures):
http:

I tested a lot of devices:
android box Ugoos UT1 with Rockchip chipset and Mali graphics (connected to TV)
tablet arnova-10d-g3 with Wondermedia chipset and Mali graphics
tablet galaxy note 8.0 with Exynos chipset and Mali graphics
mobile phone Tianhe H920+ with Mediatek chipset and PowerVR SGX graphics
In all cases, I have the same problem. Pepper, not static, it's moving.

Have you checked my screenshot?
I am not getting these kind of issues.
Are you using HW+ ?
If it is so then try to play in SW mode.

I'm always using SW.
With HW, I have no pepper in the overlay. But sometimes, I have some block artefacts in moving scenes. Therefore, I prefer SW.
At some devices, like my arnova-10d-g3, HW doesn't work with 10 bit x264.
Have you tried sw?

Finally I figured out that RGB-16 color format leads to the problem.
Goto Settings>Decoder>Color Format, select RGB-32.
Your problem will be solved.

[APP][2.1+/3.0+] VPlayer, 720p/1080p Hardware decoding, new brilliant UI

I have too many blueray videos to watch on my tablet, but no video players can handle them.
I have tried diceplayer, which support hardware decoding in many formats. The performance is great.
All the other video players such as mx video player, moboplayer, don't support real hw decoding like dice player.
They only support the formats which the devices supported already. These 'hw decoding' players are just the devices video player with an different UI.

Dice player is brilliant with my Galaxy Tab 10.1. But its interface is too ugly and it dosen't support the streams as well as VPlayer, which I've used for about 1 year.
Now VPlayer has true hw decoding just like dice player. And I find that it has a new interface.
I can play 720p mkv, flv, avi, m3u8, ts, mov, 3gp with VPlayer new version in my galaxy tab.
And the blueray 1080p also works very well with my Galaxy S2.
thanks, seems great player
Hey loving your Video Player!

Same thing on the arc s (LT18) so presumably would be even worse on the arc (LT15) since it's got a slower processor.
[Decoding 720p MKV, [email protected] profile with AC-3 audio.]
I don't know why. But it's brilliant with my Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S2.
[1080p Main profile]
It seems that the player use new version of vitamio Do you planning to update sdk too?
Look of the player is really great, but on my Sensation it isn't as good as dice player - 720p videos have lags, but definitely a good start looking for further updates

I'm not the developer, I found the new version from VPlayer's website http://vplayer.net
So I think the developers are building a new version for testing. The market version hasn't been updated yet.
Doesn't really buffer to well for online video playback. Switched back to MX for that and I'm using this for on phone video files.
Have you ppl tested BSPlayer Lite? It supports HW decoding as well and ui is nice.
Looks good, but videos are lagy on sgs. MX is still the best player.
Everyoneis missing the point. OP is overworking his devices for no reason. 1080p on a phone screen. Why? Don't complain about choppy playback when your trying to view a video (priated to boot) that's overall MBps is way to much for the device.
Either format the video for tthe device or stream it.

Please test it and post your update
NIGHTLIES for Tegra2
It is told to play 720p mkv without any issues(unlike MX Player.)
Being BETA,its slower than final. So, wait for final Version to get MAX Performance
Buddy its not for us, It will not work on Galaxy R its only for ARM V7 processor with NEON version...
Our handset had Tegra 2 which does not support NEON instructions as told above by vikram.
However they have said they'll release it for other CPUs as well so we'll get one for us in sometime, then you can update the OP here.

Hmm, most of 1080p and even 720p [email protected] videos that I've tried on Vplayer lagged. Some of 720p videos played smoothly on Dice or MX Player, but none of them can play 1080p higher than [email protected] smoothly.
When I tried to play the video with VPlayer hardware acceleration, I saw a black screen with sound. What's the problem?

The log doesn't contain any information.
Can you post the screenshot of extended properties (enable more options on Properties)?
How many subtitles are listed in the subtitle pop up window?
Have tried after unchecking the "Enable Embedded subtitles" in Settings 》 Subtitles ?
If It's still not working uncheck "Enable Subtitles" option too. If you are still getting means subtitle is hard encoded to video frame. In that case it can't be disabled.
Regarding S/W decoder issue, your cpu amlogic m805 is not a powerful one. Since S/W decoder uses the cpu to decode, it needs powerful cpu. So,there will be lagging depends upon the video quality
sorry for the later reply.
1. they said it has 4 core at 2ghz with mali m450-mp. is it power enough to do the hw acc+ thing? h/w acc is fine, but not h/w acc+.
device info: http://specdevice.com/showspec.php?id=5aba-a03d-2fe5-94bc0033c587&lang=en
2. only way to turn off subtitles is at setting->subtitle, but at player ui , I can't turn off the mkv's sub, ( i also tried to turn off h/w acc at setting/subtitle)
i wan to: disabled subtitle in mkv, and show the one I downloaded (srt)
pic here:
two subs here, big one(srt file), small one(in mkv), mixed together, same layer?
I can control the big one's appearance, but not the small one

well the embed subtitle still there.
1. I tested these:
open/disable : Gui hw
open/disable : setting/subtitle
===> embed always there. (only ext subtitle can be controlled. )
but every condition, the embed subtitle loaded 3 second later after ext subtitle. (or 2 paragraph later)
2. two srt file are the same. (I made this mkv file )
work fine on my galaxy s4, all these two can be disabled and controlled.
I use the pad as hdmi source to my tv, movie file is mkv, placed at my router's hdd share.
cpu/gpu problem?

[Feature request] Digital sound (AC3 or DTS) pass though over HDMI

Currently, we always need a custom codec to decode some of the sound formats, whereas for devices like Android TV (Nexus Player, NVidia Shield TV) and the ones with HDMI output it would be much better to output the sound track as it is. Chances are that the receiver is able to decode it anyway, probably even better than MX Player (with a proper multi-channel mapping), and the player wouldn't need to waste the CPU cycles for that.
This feature is currently available in some other players (e.g. Kodi and VLC), even in the open-source, so it should be really easy to implement.
I support this feature request as well. It can be something for @bleu8888 to look at when he is able.
Please add AC3/DTS pass though over HDMI like in KODI ant it's forks. . It's important for tv boxes. Now for ac3/dts I must use KODI player.

Hi,
We are already working on it. If there is no major issues which needs any emergency patch , we will try to make it available on the next version.
I have the version 1.7.28 ARMv7 NEON of MX Player pro installs on my receiver Pinacle 9600 HD the problem is that the application does not change the audio tracks, and if I install a newer version the codec HW does not work more. And if I do the update system of the receiver it gives me the same version of mx player soft that the sound does not work and if I update mx player I get the same problems precident

MX Player Pro: I look for some info

I'm using MX Player Pro from some days only. It reads fine the files I'm editing in UHD with high bitrate. I use a Sony Bravia TV 65". TWhen I configure theere is an enty "color format" and I have 3 options: RGB 16bit, RGB 32bit and YUV. What should I choose?
I'm noticing MX Player Pro is giving a very bright colors . They are too much bright colors. Why please? Is it possible to modify a bit the colors in the software?
Is it possible to change the color of the page (screen) of MX Player Pro? Now I have the titles of my videos on a white page. I'd like to see them in a grey or any other other color.
Thank you!

Does it happen with all decoders?
Basically, in HW & HW+ the system decoder will decode the video frames and render it on the screen. In SW decoder, decoding is done by FFmpeg. MX Player does not change the colour saturation/brightness/contrast of the actual frame.
Probably it's your TV that automatically boosts the colour. Another possible option is that Your workstation (i.e Desktop / Laptop) screen may have less saturation & you are increasing the saturation based on it.

Probably it's a decoder problem. In fact when I use Kodi software I watch them perfectly. Can you tell me which is the best coder I can use? I want a professional coder with the best quality. Maybe do I have to download some decoder from Internet? I'm sorry for my inexperience.
Then .... in "color format" do I have to choose RGB 16bit, RGB 32bit or YUV?
Thanks a lot for your precious news.
I need to cry!!! MX Player Pro is disappointing me with many problems. In my HDD I have many UHD file creatrd with the same videocamera and MX Player Pro reads fine some files and not other files. Some videos is jerky. Uhhh!!! Yet they are MP4 - File video MPEG-4 (.MP4) like all the other files. What can I do please?

It is basically the output colour format for the decoded frames.
Why HDR video in MX player Pro looks like bright(Wight).
In Google photos it's looks natural.
