Motorola Bootloader Unlock - Moto G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I paid £1.69 for an eBay unlock code which was accepted by my (Tesco) Moto G 8GB.
I've saw over at the Motorola site about unlocking the boot-loader and want to know if this also removes carrier lock ?
1. Has the eBay seller given my IMEI to Motorola and already invalidated my warranty ?
2. Have I lost the benefit of Motorola services already ?
3. Has the eBay seller registered himself, with Motorola, as the owner of my device ?

Uhhh... what?
Carrier unlocking and bootloader unlocking are 2 completely different things. If you carrier unlocked, your warranty is still valid. The seller of the code is not affiliated with Motorola. Nobody can unlock your bootloader without access to your device.

[Q] Re-lock bootloader to also regain warranty?

Hi, I bought my Moto G from Amazon.de. While planning to test it out and send it back in ~ 1-2 weeks, to buy the 16 GB version of it, I wanted to know, when the warranty is broken. By requesting the unlock code from Motorola or by actually unlocking the bootloader?
Since it's possible to relock the bootloader, will the warranty back or better: is it detectable, that the phone was unlocked?
It's quite a general question, since it applies to Motorola and HTC devices which also have to be unlocked by requesting a code from HTCDev
Well to be honest you can't void your warranty in the EU by simply unlocking the bootloader. So it depends where you live.
Link: Once you REQUEST!!! the unlock code, your warranty will be voided.

bootloader unlock will void Warranty for MOTO G?

Hi, I was just reading different articles on MOTO G bootloader unlock. Got little bit confused on if MOTO G bootloader got unlock, product warranty stays or gone. Read two below articles which are saying different on same topic.
http://www.xda-developers.com/tag/bootloader/
https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/standalone/bootloader/unlock-your-device-a
The DEVELOPER edition can be unlocked without voiding warranty:

"Unless you have a Developer Edition device, once you get the unlock code, your device is no longer covered by the Motorola warranty;"
Other editions of Moto G cannot be unlocked without voiding warranty.. it's worth saying that if you live in Europe, the jurisdiction is a bit different and I won't be so sure about that Motorola legal terms on unlocking bootloader.

[Q] Checking date of BL unlocking

Hi, is it possible to check when the BL has been unlocked? Or when the code was generated?

yes, when you request the code Motorola sends you an email, so you just have to look for an email from [email protected] with subject "Unlocking your Device"
Problem is that I didn't unlock it. I bought used phone that was supposed to be on warranty and it shows status unlocked so warranty is void. Seller is trying to fool me that I did this and he doesn't even know how to do it. So I wonder if I can check somewhere when this modification was made?

I would recommend contacting an agent on My Moto Care (The Help App on your Moto G) and asking if they can check according to the device serial number when the device's bootloader was unlocked. This is because to request the bootloader unlock code from Motorola the user is asked to sign in/register with My Moto Care.
Thank! I've contacted Motorola Support on chat and now I'm waiting for the date as consultant needed to escalate my case further.

XT1028 Root/Bootloader Unlock

How can I unlock my bootloader of my Moto G XT1028?
I tried going to Motorola's website and asking for an unlock code but they said that a bootloader unlock code was available. The closest I could find to finding the unlock code was that there is a this Chinese guy where if you send him your imei and $45, apparently he will send you the unlock code. However the issue is that I bought this phone for like $30 on ebay and $45 is more than the actual phone. Is there a way to unlock my bootloader of my phone for free or getting root without unlocking bootloader?
If there isn't a way then at least is there a way for me to move game obb files over to one of these devices (link below) without root?

I also found something about pie root but that didn't work for me
IIRC, after 6 months of service you can request boot unlock from Verizon.

Motorola G5S - How to Unlock Bootloader

already tried in all ways to unlock the bootloader of my Motorola G5S I can't when I send the code to Motorola generate the unlock code says it was sent to the email but that email doesn't arrive. someone please know of a way to unlock
Replace this thread's absolute idiotic title by " Motorola G5S - How to Unlock Bootloader "
Motorola will verify your mobile. If Your mobile is valid. Then they can send unlock code. You can say that you are developer and you need to unlock it.
You can pay contract money. They will unlock mobile.
You can get unlock code using IMEI number and sim card name.
