[Q] Youtube app issue - General Questions and Answers

This is an issue I have consistently, and it's very bothersome. I've searched everywhere for a fix and I can't seem to find anything.
Stock lg g2 will randomly show the notification bar when full screen in youtube app, until I force close the app this issue will continue.
Any way to fix this? It cuts to top and right side of the video and is very annoying.
I've attached two photos of the app in immersive mode and when the problem happens.

Youtube immersive mode bug

Hi,
Probably this thread reports the same issue.
Basically when watching or starting to play a video on Youtube, immersive mode stops working or partially stops working since some icons do disappear but battery icon, and screen bottons become dots. Also a dot its visible on the left side of the notifications bar. Here is a screenshot . Bug fixes temporary after closing the app on the multitask button.
I am not rooted, phone is up to date.
To solve the bug I have tried:
- Play the same video after closing and opening Youtube, is not video specific since immersive mode worked fine.
- Disabling Lightflow, only app with permanent notification I use.
To reproduce the bug I have tried.
- Switching between home screen, youtube and different apps to try reproduce the bug.
- Sending me a gmail notification during the video.
No luck trying to reproduce it.
It's not the most problematic bug, but it gets annoying.
Any ideas on how to fix it or reproduce it?
Thanks

I have had the same issue in the past - to be honest, I thought the last update (5.6.36) had made things better but maybe not.
Like you, I could never work out a way to reliably reproduce it. It seemed if you watch 4 or 5 videos back-to-back eventually immersive mode gives up and you have to close and re-load YouTube to get it back.

upside down camera

Hi! My camera application has suddenly become inverted. Controls and menu - all are shown upside down. Pictures are also inverted. Any ideas how to fix it?
I also noticed that rotation is not working in other apps like youtube or google search (it's on but still nothing)
Ok guys. I fixed it. I think it was something with gyroscope. Maybe it's weird but I tapped the phone with my hand couple of times and it worked!

[Q] How to disable auto-play preview in gallery?

When I go into my gallery and click a video from the grid of photos and videos, it starts playing the video without the audio (even before I press play) and loops it as like an auto-generated preview of the video. Then, when I press play, it actually plays the video and audio together and shows the entirety of the clip.
How do I disable this? It's slow and glitchy and dumb. I want the clip to play when I click it, not just the video sans audio. And, to boot, it makes everything about 2-3 times slower to click and load due to a hitch/lag when you actually want it to play the clip.
I'm also experiencing a weird lag in the video player that I think might be a bug.
As I noted in the OP, when I open a video from the grid, it "previews" with white borders. If I click the play button in the center, my screen goes completely black for 1 second, then the video comes back, but this time with white borders, and then actually starts playing. So, I get like a 1.5-2 second lag between when I click the play button and when the video plays.
Does anyone else have this issue? I'm going to try turning video enhancer off and see what happens.

this stops the next video from playing. however, as EYC has mentioned - it's the looping of the video with the white bars that's the issue. my wife has the s7 and it doesn't display this behavior....

Does yours also temporarily go to a fully black screen when you hit the play button, causing the video to hitch between pressing play and it actually playing? That's what I find most irritating.

mine does exactly that. the fact that the video auto loops too drives me insane.
As a workaround to the stock gallery's wonky video player, I'm using Google Photos (which has its own built-in video player).
One of the cool things about Google Photos is you can access it directly from within the camera app. There's a setting called "Camera shortcut" within Photos, which overlays a shortcut thumbnail onto the camera. You can press and drag this thumbnail shortcut anywhere you want - you can even place it on top of the stock gallery thumbnail if you want. After you shoot a video or take a picture, the little thumbnail pops up and you can jump directly to Photos to watch the video or whatever.
Rather than use the work around suggested by Henrybravo, has anyone actually managed to find the toggle box to turn off auto play on the current selected video in Gallery? I have exactly the same issue as eyc and kdfdawg and it's driving me nuts!

This is not the issue! The problem is with Gallery, not Video Player. I've already turned off auto play next. I want to stop Gallery doing the silly silent looping video preview. There seems to be no setting to control this. I think it's a new "feature" in Gallery, and is really annoying. I have an S7 edge running Oreo.

Go into gallery app settings, go to "about gallery", where it says "version xxx.x.xxx.x" tap that seven times. Press back and there should then be "gallery labs" at the very bottom. Go in there, disable "video preview on picture list" close the app (make sure it's closed properly through "recent" then open gallery again and it should no longer show video previews!!
Samsung Gallery used to be good years ago.
Today it sucks. Try a 3rd party app like Gallery.
If anyone has a better freeware/ad free Gallery app,
please post it

Snapchat issues on S8+

First of all, I am not sure whether this is a device issue or an app issue but here's my problem,
When I download snapchat and open it for the first time, it opens in fullscreen and takes fullscreen pictures. The navigation bar is also translucent at this time. However, when I close snapchat and stop it from running in the background then reopen it, the navigation bar is solid black and it no longer takes fullscreen pictures. I have tried uninstalling all other apps to see if they were affecting it, but the problem remains. I have asked everyone I know who also owns an S8/S8+ is they have also experienced this but none of them have. The only solution I have found so far is to uninstall the app and re download it so I'm hoping that someone here knows what is causing this and can help me.
I've never had SC take full screens photo's. Always the black bars.

YouTube Bug?

I'm noticing that on YouTube, after I close the app, and open the app backup, the video plays in a semi full screen mode where I cannot see the content on the side where it normally is. Obviously the workaround is to change it back to portrait mode but that defeats the point of trying to use the app in landscape. What I have been doing so far to alleviate this problem is clearing out the data and cache of YouTube before I open up the app, but as you can tell that gets annoying. I have attached two screenshots. One of them is YouTube the way it should look, the other is showing the problem. Notice the white bar at the bottom. Any fix? I am using a 8013 with 8010 stock rom flashed on it because I wanted KitKat.
