Anyone know an alternative to Runtastic with low-power mode? Bloody hopeless having to fart around with buttons to see what speed you're doing...

No low power mode, but Google My Tracks combined with My Tracks for Smartwatch has an "always on" feature.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sunflowerstudio.smartwatch.mytracks
Can you tell me a bit about google tracks? How does it compare to runtastic and are they even apps for the same purpose or what? I tried to find much info.

Similar but more basic. Set up a profile, it tracks via GPS and gives speed, distance, time, pace etc. like Runtastic, and the watch can be configured to stay on and show speed, time and distance, stop and start. On the phone plays back nicely on Google Earth.
Uploads automatically to Google Drive, but if you want to share on Facebook just gives a link rather than map and stats, and clicking the link only shows the map not the stats. All available on the phone though.
I got in touch with the developer of AeroTrackerPro for Pebble and he said he'd have a look, but no promises.

You can also get MyTracks on the watch with Watch My Tracks, again keeps the watch on but no low power. And can get better sharing via Strava and My Tracks Uploader.
Another option is to use remote widget with google my tracks, this way you get low power+always on
Shame that runtastic or nike apps doesnt have any real time widget

Tried that, but widget doesn't refresh on the watch.
Any idea why the Walkman widget doesn't appear in remote widget?
You can try forcing the phone to stay on when the widget is active from the remote widget settings

Thanks, just not sure it's a great idea when I'm cycling with the phone bouncing about in my pocket!

What I mean is to maintain the phone out of the deep sleep mode (set the config of the widget in device power on to CPU only mode). You will only notice that battery will be drained a little bit faster when monitoring the widget in real time at your wrist (what is normal)
What I use is endomondo with remote widget. I put the endomondo widget on remote widget and activate low battery mode. The bad thing is that you can see only one of the three info that real widget would provide on the phone due to the small screen of the watch. So I use it to see just the hr monitor.
Because distance and duration are told me earphones
Oh and it does work all the time, doesn't stop at all. You see life info

Yes, I asked the dev on 1st April and he's already implemented it! Works very well too, I use My Tracks, Watch My Tracks for the watch, and My Tracks Uploader to put the data onto Strava. Perfect. :victory:
Ghostracer
Bit late to the party but am in the process of making my own gps tracker work with SMW2.
App is:
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bravetheskies.ghostracer&hl=en
Little vid of smw2 working:
youtube.com/watch?v=R5VSkBgrMMc
Any thoughts let me now. So far I'm going with 3 screens with 3 fields. Where you can customise each field and have setups for running and cycling.
If anyone wants to test the smartwatch version let me know its in beta on play at mo.

Hi all
After trying the lg G WATCH for a few days before returning it, I really miss the googlenow notifications on the SW2.
I have tried Augmented app, but aesthetically it is horrible, so has anybody found a notification app that includes Google Now.

Unless I'm configuring it incorrectly, Watchit and watchify only say there's one alert rather than presenting the actual alert.
I will look at Notify

Yes, I found this, but like the others, didn't appear to handle Google Now cards. I've tried about 6, but not very scientifically, so perhaps I've rushed the tests a little, I certainly can't recall which did what.
Will give it another try this evening thanks
Lightflow can do this. You can set which cards do and do not get sent to the watch. It comes across as text, not an interactive card (but I don't think any app does the interactive card thing) . Plus lightflow is awesome for your phone notifications.
Light Flow!
If you purchase the full version of light flow you can push alot of notifications to your watch, including google now.

Bugger! Just bought Notifier Pro, and this doesn't do cards at all.
Will check out LF

"Wearable Widgets" shows any widget on the watch. But no interaction with the widget.

Doesn't it push the notifications? Or are you looking for something more then just getting the notification, like actual swipe away cards?

Hi, though cards would be nice, I would be happy with a text style alert/headline for each google now card. For me the whole purpose of the smart watch is to leave the phone in my pocket as much as possible. I like the cards but many are irrelevant or not urgent (like many texts and most FB posts) so if I can casually glance at my watch to confirm this, then it's work is done.
and no, it didn't appear to push the alerts individually.

It does. I do it. You need to go into settings and switch on what you want to come across. It works well - it even sends me traffic alerts while driving.

Then I will buy and try again, I was most impressed with it's configuration anyway. Will let you know how it goes, thanks
Apps like e.g. WatchIt have two different methods of getting the notifications from the phone to the watch: Notification access (under Security settings) and Accessibility. Only the latter one can get Toasts and thus Google Now cards. At least it was like this for me.
OK, I give up, I will live without GNow notifications till the Moto is on my wrist.
THanks for the suggestions

I never had the beta. I was too late to register.
However, there are a lot of UI changes when compared with the leaked 1.5 version. ?
And the Bluetooth app installations in the watch are possessed much faster, although they are still slow as hell.
All I see is the Gear Fit app anything on the S2?

YES - in app store there is the old beta. UNFORTUNATELY the app has the same error that the last beta had (I have reported 3 weeks ago to the developers): when you call in S Health a training with recorded route the app hangs/crashes.
The same thing happens with other users or only with my iPhone SE?

but as I said, unfortunateley, same that nothing is changed. only read whatsapp/sms, whatsapp no pictures, no contacts, no calls, no maps....
just downloaded the official app : works like a charm ! I got an iPhone SE (iOs 10) and a Gear S2. Here are the step needed :
- remove the leaked app from both your phone and your itunes library
- make forget the watch in the bluetooth settings of the iPhone
- reset the watch to factory settings
After the reboot of the watch, you just need to start the app and link them again. If this doesn't work, check the firmware of the watch, must be the last one.

I only reseted the watch. Nothing else.
Basically I installed the official version, and reseted the watch. Only then I uninstalled the leaked version. But there was a few minutes with both the official and the leaked versions installed and everything was working as it is now.
Ah, and I didn't make the phone forget the watch in the Bluetooth settings. Just left it there.

I've requested the ability to keep an active app open until manually closed, and i suggest you do the same.
more people requesting it means a bigger chance they'll change it.

Your link doesn't work for me. I'm in Spain, and the link just brings up a page with a message in Spanish offering to redirect me to Galaxy apps. No other option, so I accept that and it does indeed open the Galaxy Apps store on my phone - but just at the home page. I need to know the name of your app so I can search for it on there. Can you please therefore confirm the name of your app?
it's called "I Am Alive"
most likely the app isn't available for your region, so your galaxy apps app opens the main page instead.

Thanks. I searched for "I Am Alive" in the Galaxy appps store and found it without difficulty, and have downloaded it. Thanks heaps. Just shows, for marketing and practical reasons it's always a good diea to state the actual name of your app whenever you refer to it.
Hi everyone,
The main reason I got this watch was to use as a secondary alti whilst skydiving. I chose it based on the fact that I could use the app to keep the app open.
I tested it during a jump today and unfortunately the watch was still going back to sleep after 2 or 3 minutes. Have Samsung updated the OS to prevent wakelock of any type or something? Has anyone got a workaround or an alternative app?
Alternatively, does anyone know of an android wear OS app method to do this? I may have to refund the S3 and switch to the Huawei watch 2 if I can't get this working unfortunately. It would be a shame if I had to, its a beautiful smart watch (although I have found it to be very limited in certain ways).
Thanks
