Sony Ericsson T310 /T316 - Ringtone. - General Questions and Answers

Hello, I posted this in hope that there's someone out there who still owns this phone and could do me a favor.
I remember that this phone (maybe others from SE too) had the best polyphonic tones I have ever heard and one certain song stuck in my mind from it, It's this one :
NYC
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ehXkmI-QBE
https://www.google.ro/?gws_rd=cr&ei=SGxSU_zMGubMygOPxYLQAg#q=nyc.midi+ringtone
Now, that youtube file is just the midi file playing on a PC, I remember the phone itself had much more aggressive tones and it sounded like a MP3.. Was so good.
Is there anyone out there who could possibly record the phone while playing this midi?
I want it for the sake of nostalgia, might even have it as a ringtone

A Sony Ericsson Midi Fan Too
here is a not so good video (put youtube here)/watch?v=DaF9PST0foM
I am also a big fan of sony ericsson and always looking for the midi files. windows media player only comes close to the midi sound quality of the T310/XX16/6XX models. I am also on a constant hunt for the start up midi for the t310 but to no avail as somehow no one was able to extract those files still im amazed by the sony ericsson midi synthesizer they had in those days. and yet they threw it away and used crappy sounding ones in there later phones (do know why they did not continue with it) I always have NYC and Autumn Sky

nyc midi
please could you help with the NYC i am really looking for it but couldn't find it anywhere.

Hey man! I was hunting for a LOT of SE ringtones.. Here you go: NYC!
ANd, if someone has the Beethoven5 from T300, please share it! And also, does anyone has the old P800/P810 message alerts? Then could be downloaded from the Sony Ericsson page, they were called Lithium and Xenon, and there were others like that, with element names... Please!!!

Midi

Hi.
Just in case anyone starts shouting at me, I think I've searched everywhere for an answer so now I'm asking (feel defensive today - sorry)
Are WM phones capable of MIDI synthesis? I've been a little bit envious of the various instruments that are available for certain fruit-related machines that synthesise the sound, not play recordings and I am surprised that I can't find something similar on for WM.
Any ideas?
Cheers
p.s. current phone is HTC HD2 with 1.6 Stock ROM
Moved as not software release.

YES! I have been using commercial software that is a bit dated but still very usable on the past two generations of WM devices. You may still be able to buy it, but I must admit I have not seen it around for some time. It is by a company called IntelliArt, and is called "IntelliArt Midi Player". It was written in 2004/2005 and I think I must have bought it around that time. The web-site is www.intelliart.com (surprise!) and I have what think was the last version, version 4.0.0. It works with midi files and the intstrument sounds are pretty good. The GUI is a bit non standard in places, but very usable indeed. It has 16 channels, and a full set of standard GM Midi sounds. You can vary the tempo, mute channels etc. Played through speakers or headphones the sounds are pretty good but are never going to equal better PC samples. I use it for learning piano, creating midi files on a PC score writer. It is handy to have a portable midi player to carry about.
This might sound too enthusiastic but it is good - and NO, I do not work for them!
Hope you can find it?

Sorry to pop up again..... yes, I had tried all these and all found wanting compared to the one in my post above! I was into music/midi in a big way and investigated and trialled somewhat exhaustively. For example the midi sound samples that you can find to work with the GS Player are not great sounding. The IntelliArt player even has playlists which the others have not implemented as successfully.
I find that the enthusiasm for midi seems to have deserted the WM market place. There is a dearth of any good and new products. The Apple marketplace is buzzing, although it is not one I need to get into, despite the midi offerings. Like others, I have a big investment in WM software.

A very weired problem!!

Hey guys,
I just got my Captivate yesterday and today I discovered a very weird and annoying problem. Everyday at work I download a podcast from a radio talk-show. It works fine on my iPod and my old SE Xperia X10 but on my new Samsung something is going wrong. For some reason when the hosts are talking the quality of the sound in the right earbud is horrible you can barely understand them, but here comes the funny part, when they play music everything is fine there is non a difference between L and R. If anyone can explain what the heck is going one I would be glad do listen. I've tried a different media players and different headphones but no luck.
Here is the website with the podcasts:
cronica.primatv.ro/podcast/
(add the http part because I cannot post link - I'm a new user)
Probably you wont understand what are they talking about. But if somebody with another Samsung Captivate can do a test I would be glad to hear what the results are.
Can't help with that problem but I can with another.....it's spelled weird.
Oh...c'on man... English is my third language
Check the Effects in the settings for the default music player. Also, there is a 5.1 surround icon in the top left when playing music/audio. Tap that to disable 5.1
this might help
If the sound is fine on the left earbud with the podcast, my guess would be it has something to do with the one being a mono broadcast and the other being stereo.
does the podcast have multiple audio streams? There are a few that require you to select one or the other, otherwise you get both at the sametime. Depending on how the podcast is recorded, one audio stream may only go to the left or right channel, while the other is stereo.
Hey guys, thx all for the input. I played around with the setting and still no luck. About the mp3 file, I opened it in a wave editor and is absolutely fine both channels are fine. The file is stereo @ 96kbps. This is very odd!!!
Have you tried playing it through the phones speaker, How does it sound then? Besides that u may be SOL
Yeah I can verify the problem. Right channel plays fine on my PC but parts of it are choppy on the phone. The music seems fine, just the spoken dialogue is broken.
Is it Just That pod cast or others as well?

[APP] Sony DLNA app for X10 2.3

Ok, we know that the 2.3.3 ROM for the X10 was missing DLNA support. I mentioned in a previous thread that I was attempting to use the one from one of the other Xperias;
Well, I've finally had a chance to test the DLNA app from the Xperia Play on the X10 and can confirm that it does indeed work.
So far I've used it to stream a video recorded with the X10 camcorder to my Windows 7 PC. It didn't pick up an AVI I had however (divx format), however this is probably to do with the X10's codec support.
I'm going to have a look into the video apps on the Sony Play/Arc as there doesn't seem to be one preinstalled on the GB x10 rom - hopefully that might sort out the codec issue.
For now, here's the apk from the xperia play - enjoy!
I have a question...how does it work?
i was playing around with this last night, i was able to get my windows 7 pc to see pics on the phone in wmp, however, it would not see video or audio files on the x10.
also, does it work both ways? could i stream media from my pc to my phone? i removed dlna because i couldn't figure this out, and i want to stream from my pc more than i want to stream from my phone
can you explain me how do I use it?

wow.... its working.... I am accessing my x10 via Laptop....
used this guide to setup...

I don't mean to sound whiny or aggressive, as this is not my style,
but since Bravia Engine works (for photos at least) and now DLNA too,
it occurs to me that SE willingly did not include those features in the X10.
On the one hand, I get it. They have to sell their newer models,
this is not uncommon in the mobile industry and it's how things work.
On the other hand, didn't they expect that we will eventually find out that they
work, since it's that simple as pushing some files onto our phones?
I found out why I cant get the xbox to see the x10 - the client has to initiate the connection to the x10, then you have to select it in notifications and select "allow". Xbox can't do that as it can only poll devices that are already presenting themselves. I'm sure I'll figure out a way around it (add a client, then manually editing its record to match the xbox's mac should do it) but it's not a priority.
The non-x10 recorded a/v i'm looking at - wondering if it's something simple like placement on sd card (video camera saves files in another location to where my avi files are kept - i.e. not sdcard/media/video).
I agree that it's stupid and annoying that they've left stuff out that could have been added in 5 minutes- I'm convinced we can get the bravia engine working by amending that existing library file - the one on the x10 is likely just missing the entry for be_video, but we can't use the arc one because it uses different calls to the video architecture (it has a different screen to the x10 doesn't it?).
Possibly a good old fashioned 'diff' on the arc .so file and that of the one currently on the x10 might show up some insight as to what needs to be added? I'll look later - phones on charge and I've got to prepare for a job interview in an hour!!
thanks, it's work perfect .
Does anyone can gimme some hints that i can stream the videos made by X10 in 720P?
I have a Samsung TV and a PS3 and both say that the format is incompatible although both are able to play MP4 format in which the vids are recorded.
It is curious because with some roms it is working. But there the videos are recorded with the Stock Android Camera where you can choose between different formats.
Does anyone uses a mediaplayer where the videos made by Stock SE Camera can be streamed without converting them?
Thanks
you can also try an app called Skifta, i use that to stream content from my laptop to my phone or my tv aswell as from my phone to tv
its on the market and its free

Well, "we" are a pretty small group of people. I've met others with the X10. None had updated or much less knew about things like rooting, flashing, recovery, etc... Even among my techie friends who own droid phones, none have done the things I've done to my phone. I don't think SE is particularly concerned about what we try. If anything, it seems like they've lifted some of the things xda devs have done into the GB update.

True.. but i do believe they stated that it is possible with 3rd party apps.

because XDA community is still small compare to rest of the world, not everyone root and flash their phones once per 2~3 days like some of us here
Tnx

Sony's mindset is that you want your phone's stuff on the tv (preferably a Sony tv) and that you want to watch with a bunch of people without the hassle of cables- So this is a media server rather than a client.
That said, there is an excellent simple app called 2Player that works well with it's own DLNA client for music. I have a NAS with 14K songs that will serve to the phone. There are some other apps that will do both music and photos in the market such as iMedia which also work with the devices such as a NAS as well as Windows Media. FWIW, Windows Media has limits on what type of material will be shown, that is, not all file types will be shared.
All that said, only my Panasonic BluRay player is DLNA enabled, so to watch phone's stuff on the big tv..... and yes, it does work with my DLNA bluray from Panasonic, shows right up with the rest of the stuff. Have streamed photos, getting not valid media on the video, since it's not in the right format.
Thanx .. gonna donwload it
Nice job man!thx

[Q] Audio lag over bluetooth

I have read all the other threads about this...but wanted to bring this up on out RAZR HD forum.
The phone is great so far... It has been a whole new android experience for me since the Xperia Play ICS update cancellation, but something I really miss from my Xperia is using my bluetooth headset for movies and gaming...
On this phone (XT925) the lag over bluetooth is annoying... and the fact that It came without any wired headset and that I can't use my Samsung Jet or Xperia Play handsfree headsets because the phone does not recognize them, make it even worse
So far I noticed the problem on 3rd party apps, because the lag is present on all games and downloaded video players (like Mobo), If I use the Stock video or audio player the lag disappears completely... too bad the stock player doesnt allow subtitles via SRT files...
Gaming is awful with the Lag... but I cant live without the sound anyway...
I'm using a Sony Ericsson MW600 Bluetooth headset with my RAZR HD... and I love this little device, I'm also concerned why It was able to fully work on my previous phone (Xperia Play, rooted GB 2.3.4) and not on a more advanced OS version.
Is there any workaround for this? I don't know maybe a way to make the stock player read ther SRT subtitles files or to make thr mobo player compesate the LAG?
Thanks for your help
Aside from trying to re-pair, I'm not sure if there's anything you can do.
The bright side is that we should be getting the JB update soon. With that will surely come new bluetooth binaries. Hopefully, it makes things better for you.

Will somebody extract the walkman app in ZX500/A100 series walkman?

There are no forums about new walkman , so I post to here.
I have found that the new Sony Walkman is supported by android , and the new walkman app looks pretty well ( style is like the wm1 and zx300 series) . I wanna install the new walkman app on my cellphone .
There are some problems
First of all there are no smaster audio processor on the cellphones so some of the functions won’t work on the ordinary android devices . Like vinyl processor or dsee Hx , dc phase processor. Maybe we have to disable them to ensure that the app works well.
Second , I found the functionality between zx500 and a100 is different . So there are maybe 2 versions of new walkman app. One for zx500 and another one for a100.
I double this. I'll try to get the APK tomorrow by extracting it from the firmware... then I'll install it to AOSP.
Got it? Would be interested on that and some Infos about it (Development)
any news about this?
anything else?
Did anyone do this?
Bump
Do you guys need someone with one of these devices to be able to extract the APK? Willing to help if you point me in the right direction.
However don't be too excited, the music player sucks as a music player.
It's very basic, it doesn't even let you create or modify playlists. Only "bookmarks" which cannot be backed up/exported and have limitations.
Even I have these device, and I'd rather stick to PowerAmp in general (best overall) or USB Audio Player Pro UAPP for USB DAC support and MQA.

Hi there,
I might be a little late but yes! Someone with one of these devices will be great.
Being it Android you can download an android app called (Super Backup & Restore) from the Google play store. This app is easy, intuitive and will extract the APK file. Then you can upload it here on XDA. I can help more if you are willing to help. I will try my best to answer any questions you have.
Cheers
