[Q] Unroot not possible & Bootloop after 4.2.2. Rom update - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

It looks like a bigger problem, I updated my xoom MZ601 and installed the 4.2.2 Omnirom and at first it worked - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2593414
Then I installed some apps and after half an hour my xoom crashed and now it's stuck in a boot loop. Installing the rom again does not work, any other rom too - always a boot loop.
Allright, I thought, let's do a full reset and use adb and fastboot to install the original software and firmware in my xoom. (the link is german, but it works and yes, i have the right files) http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-ha...al-firmware-einspielen-softbrick-loesung.html
My problem now is: intalling the original files does not may any difference. I still have the teamwin recovery mode, still the omni logo and still a boot loop - even istalling the original firmware looked like it worked. No errors, right files...
Have no idea at the moment what do to, help would be great!

Problem still there - really need help
Hi - as still all ideas dit not work out (several roms and recoverys, locking and unlocking bootloader, access and new installation via RSD Lite...) I really would appeciate any idea to bring my Xoom back to life. Thanks for your help!

Can't flashback to JB after KK

Hello to all.
Here's the problem:
I installed KK 4.4.2 on my Xoom 3G (stingray) using bigPart TWRP. Everything works well except battery life - full charged battery goes to 0% in a day or two (in standbye mode).
Then I decided to roll-back to JB (or ICS) (eos-stingray-2.0 firmware). It flashes normally but device hangs on boot - when displaying Motorola's logo.
I can flash again to KK and it boots and works. But I finally decided to have my old firmware installed on Xoom.
Can anyone help me to flash correctly the device and make it boot to OS?

I dont think there ia a procedure to roll back from Bigpart.
The only way is , to reflash the original firmware of your device - root - instal CWM etc

Thanx for the answer.
Here's what I did:
1. Flashed recovery to TWRP 2.6.3.0 (not bigPart)
2. Flashed Xoom to eos-stingray_cdma-2.0.0.zip
3. Rebooted Xoom -> now I passed the Moto's logo but hanged on booting OS itself - EOS logo spinning round and round and nothing happens. Look like there's smth more need for OS to boot. But what exactly?
How now pass this issue?
Please help me!
BTW, tried to flash original ROM - error during flashing via recovery.

Did it. Just after UNLOCK process via fastboot Xoom booted to OS normally. So no flash to stock firmware required.
BIG thanx for your help!
Hi I'm in a similar situation, the process that took at the actual status is the same as your.
Now I cannot flash any img, I receive writing 'system'... FAILED (command write failed (Unknown error)) also after flashing with RSD stock rom.
I had opened a thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2611538 this morning but without any luck noone replied.
Thanks

[Q] Only fastboot accessible to flash / restore my TF700

Hello,
My TF700 was on a CleanRom (2.3 i think), for a while, i decided to update.
- I installed the latest CWM (via fastboot) and flashed a Cyanogen 10.2 "stable", but my tablet freezed very quickly after successful boot, i tried some reboots and get same problem.
- I tried to install a stock ODEX root ROM, the tablet freezed at asus logo
- I flashed TWRP instead of CWM, it doesn't helped
- I tried wipe data and cache with TWRP, then my data was not accessible anymore and TWRP was unable to re-create it
- I searched on forums and found on this one that flash a boot.blob file can solve the problem
- It doesn't and now CWM and TWRP refuse to work ....
So i post here before getting my tablet completely brick.
At this point, i get access to fastboot / abd, CWM load but don't work (reboot when trying to do something), TWRP don't load.
Any suggestion to get back to a Stock ODEX rooted rom ?
Excuse my english ...

Sounds like you are on an old bootloader. Flash the stock rom from asus by unzipping the zip you download from their website and placing in the root folder of your micro sd and then go into rck from the bootloader menu (power + volume down whilst booting)
Or you could just flash it from recovery....
lj50036 helped me to flash a new bootloader, recovery, rom and nvflash to make it unbrickable
Not just helped he spent many times to explain me how it works and what he did.
He is very nice and this was a pleasure to talk with him, i'm happy that there's still person like that on this planet
see you !

I buy a tf700 with cm 11 a few days ago i am really interessted on how this steps works. I really want to make it unbrickeable, But i dont really understand how it works. I can not enter in fastboot. at least i got cwm interface when rebooting with adb into recovery.
Can u explain how you did it?
It invovles flashing a modified bootloader and the flatline recovery and then using Wheelie to generate your nvflash blobs.
Step-by-step instructions (which you need to follow to the letter) are here:

Stuck in boot loop, fastboot and recovery accessible
Hello,
I'm having a similar issue and I need help! Initially my tablet was rooted with Cromi-X 5.4. Then I decided to try Crombi-KK.
Here is what happened:
- Updated TWRP recovery
- Did a full wipe as recommended
- Flashing got stuck at the Crombi-KK loading sign
- Tried to reflash but TWRP wasn't detecting data partition anymore
- Instead installed the other recommended recovery CWMR.
- Flashed Crombi-KK, it worked. Played around with it for a few days, it was wonderful, fast and responsive.
- Battery died out and when I turned it back on I got a UIDs system inconsistent error.
- I found online many recommendations to reflash so I tried to do that
- Since then I'm stuck in a boot loop. I see the initial "bios" Asus logo then it restarts over and over.
- I am able to access bootloader and recovery
I've tried reflashing the asus stock blob. I've tried wiping the data through CWMR but it starts working and then it restarts. I don't know what to do anymore, so if anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it!
Thanks
Which recovery and bootloader version do you have now?
A (for KK) outdated bootloader seems the most likely culprit.
You can try save the recovery log when you flash or grab a logcat of the bootloop, but probably it'll only tell you that the recovery cannot mount /data.
Determine that you are on the correct bootloader, if not update it. If you're lucky the tablet will start right up. If it doesn't, formatting /data is the only way I know to get it back. Not just wiping - formatting it. You will loose everything on internal SD, so I hope you have a nandroid you can restore from later.
If you use TWRP 2.7+ be aware that formatting can take more than an hour. Let it finish!
For good measure, download CROMBi-KK again, check the md5 and then flash that file.
I'm on 10.6.1.14.10 bootloader which I think is the latest one
I have 6.0.4.7 CWMR
I'm trying to format data completely but when i do it in CWMR it starts and then the tablet reboots on it's own after a couple of minutes.
How can I retrieve the logs, I never had to do it before.
Thanks for your help
Mhh, getting a little more complicated.
Your BL is ok...
What do you see in CWM when you go into Mounts and Storage? What is mounted?
The recovery logs are under Advanced > show logs.
I'm at work now but from what I remember the only thing mounted was the cache. I'll double check tonight. Do you think there's any hope or I have a brand new paper weight?

Can you fastboot flash twrp?
It's much much better than CWM, has its own terminal and will be easier to offer the correct format command.

So I flashed TWRP and when I go in mount/storage everything is selected except for system. Should I do a format data from the wipe menu before flashing crombi-kk again?

To be in the safe side, yes, that is what I would do. TWTRP 2.7.+ takes a long time to format and it may seem the process got stuck. Give it at least 90 minutes to finish.
Then reflash CROMBi
I'm back up and running !!!
This time installing TWRP, everything was mounted (maybe my previous flash before CWMR wasn't good), did a format data, waited until it was done, flashed latest Crombi-KK and going through setup now. Hopefully won't have the same UID issue on next shutdown. I didn't enable fsync or journaling so hopefully it won't happen again.
Thanks both of you for your help!
Good deal! Happy for you!

no good.
First off I watched the noob video over and over and I think I have a special case here. Well I have the xt1031 (boost) unlocked boot loader/ rooted. I have been installing custom ROMs/kernels . various ones. (Pretty much everyone) and kernels. Now my music volume is super laggy. Tried factory reset. Almost bricked it but luckily I had the gummy ROM installed so I just downgraded the version I had in settingis downloaded it. And still a bad lag. So I changed my ROM to a bunch of different ones. Wipe data (the whole shabang) still not fixed) so I tried different kernels them the boot animation got laggy.. Finally booted up and noticed my WiFi doesn't work. So I wiped the data dalvik cache. And reflashed the ROM. WiFi worked again. But volume when playing music is still laggy. So I tried the stock ROM zip (flashed through philz recovery) fixed the volume and wifi) but now when I try custom ROMs . I can't install kernel (wifi) volume lag. And can't install cm themes. Idk what's going on.

Cannot get rid of CM10 / cannot reset the device (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, GT-P5110)

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2
GT-P5110
Android version: 4.2.2.
Hi there, I have a rooted device running on CyanogenMod 10.1.3-p5110, with a custom recovery CWM 6.0.2.7
After 3 years (or so) of smooth operation it started to slow down and getting unstable from time to time, so I decided to factory reset.
I did the factory reset from CWM following the regular regular instructions, however after reset completion the devices booted back to the original CM10, with all the original data (nothing was cleaned at all or reset). I tried several times from - cleaning cache, date, system, dalvik cache, factory reset ... still the same result.
I also tried to replace the CWM with TWRP (GT-P5110_TWRP_3.0.0-0.tar.md5) - same result, it shows success but if I restart to recovery, it goes to CWM 6.0.2.7
If I boot into recovery (CWM) and flash any rom, it shows success and then reboots (guess what) into the original CM 10 like nothing happened.
I tried to flash the stock firmware using Odin. I got an original firmware "P5110XXDMI1_P5110OXXDMJ1_HOME.tar.md5" from a reliable source (sammobile)
Model:GT-P5110, Model name:GT-P5110, Country:Czech Republic, Version:Android 4.2.2, Changelist:1709803, Build date:Wed, 18 Sep 2013 06:13:11 +0000, Security Patch Level: N/A, Product code:XEZ, PDA: P5110XXDMI1, CSC5110OXXDMJ1
Every time I flash the original stock rom with Odin, the ID:COM box in Odin goes green and everything looks just fine but after reboot the tablet restarts to the original CM10. I was using Odin3-v1.85, as well as newer versions of the tool - namely Odin3_v3.07, Odin3_v3.11.1, all with the same result.
I even tried form very scratch - repartitioning the device using a .pit file "signed_espresso_20120220_16G.pit", flashing stock using Odin, same result.
I also tried flashing rom Heimdall Suite - same result
I have no problem to connect to the device using ADB shell and communicate with the device ...
However, I am not any Android guru, so I cannot "decode" what I get.
To me it seems like I somehow messed up my partitions or mounts and thats the reason for the strange behaviour.
So now I am stuck in strange state, which I cannot call a bootloop ... seems like I am running some sort of cached system or someting and I am unable to get out of with any standard tool available. As I said ... device is rooted, running CWM and I can boot to any mode I want ... download, recovery, system.
Any help will be more than appreciated.
You could have an faulty emmc firmware or your emmc reached end of life.
You are from europe? I know someone who can fix it for you.
You can also read the faq on my github userpage for more information about your bug.

Once I had same problem with Motorola xoom and guess what was realy the problem. It was the external SD memory remove it then flash the stock rom.. If problem persists see with Andi
Thank you for your response. To me it also seems like faulty emmc. I have check the frequently asked questions on your blog and the description there exactly matches with what I'm experiencing on my device. Yes I am from Europe, Czech Republic. I have already tried to get in touch with two people who have the proper tooling to flash the firmware (JTAG). Hope I get some response fast and the solution is going to work. Still if you have someone in the CZ that you can recommend I'm grateful for any advice.

@zidane01: thanx for cheerin' up
I have tried to replace my CWM 6.0.2.7 with TWRP 3.0.2.5, 3.0.2.6. from a .zip file using current recovery. Result is the same as described - after I reboot to recovery (using advanced option in CWM) it boots back to the original CWM 6.0.2.7. Flashing latest CM13 (as of 27/9/2016, downloaded from Andi's site) from CWM 6.0.2.7 ends with error. The tablet seems like READ ONLY not matter what I do. Maybe I am doing something wrong. I can describe the procedure step by step in detail, if you wish.

Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus 30 second boot loop

How can in get out of this boot loop, any advice, answers, help appreciated?
As background my Lenovo Tab 4 10 plus (stock 7.1 rom) had a failed SD card so I replaced the card and factory reset and thought I would try TWRP, Linageos 17.1 with magisk and relevent gapps - this all worked fine other than a Skype issue. I then found an 18.1 rom and tried that and this is where it seems to have gone wrong I set it up in the same ways as the 17.1 rom but with Andriod 11 gapps to suit, did a factory reset and 30 seocnds in I got the boot loop.
To fix it I tried going back to the 17.1 rom set-up that had worked but this then boot looped even with a full recovery reset. I have gone back to the stock rom backup in TWRP again with a recovery reset same boot loop. I have even used the Lenovo recovery tool to EDL mode flash a newly downloaded stock rom and it's still boot looping. I can only think that the 18.1 andriod 11 rom changed something fundimental but I can't find what?
Further I have another problem, the EDL flash worked but it locked the bootloader, however as I can't get in to Andriod with the boot loops, I can't switch ADB mode on so I can't unlock the bootloader to get TWRP up again.
So is there a way to start ADB without access to develeoper settings maybe through fastboot or recovery which I can get in to? Unlock the bootloader without ADB? Does anyone know why after the 18.1 Andriod 11 based rom, I have this continous boot loop?
I have a tb-x704f wich was totally caught in a boot loop, but I manisched to get back to working stock.
I was running firmware s000056 when I flashed twrp without backing up anything. I thought I never would have to go back to nougat, but standby time on lineage os was just not good for me, as I only use my tablet maybe half an hour a day, and I had to charge several times a week nevertheless.
So I tried to get back to stock and awesome standby time.
It was not easy bootloop after bootloop.
Tried Lenovo rescue and smart assistant multiple times, factory reset before and after flash, without SD card inserted etc, but bootloop.
Tried flashing the rom downloaded from the rescue tool with qfil but same result.
I then tried flashing the files with miflash 2016.08.30.0 still the same rom as I thought it had to be s000056. Miflash stopped halfway with some kind of error.
I then downloaded a stock rom from lenovo-forums.ru http://lenovo-forums.ru/topic/24135-lenovo-tab4-a10-plus-proshivka-tb-x704f_s000037_170703_row_qfil/
from the link in the discussion in the bottom of the site.
I had twrp still so from there I got into terminal and wrote "reboot edl" to get into emergency download mode and then flashed away. I presume that I could just as well had gotten in to edl mode by pressing vol+ and vol- simultaneously and then connected to PC holding those to buttons pressed. When the tablet was finished it was off, so I started going to recovery and wipeed cache and did a factory reset. Then booted and instead of bootloop it showed the Lenovo screen with a progress bar underneath. I successfully booted and took a update and then i am back to stock s000056.
The rom I got from lenovo-forums.ru stated it was only for EU and wi-fi model only. I am in Denmark and my tablet is WiFi only.
I think chances for success is greater using miflash than other tools when recovering from bootloop, but then again I don't know. Maybe I could just have flashed the s000037 rom with qfil or maybe I was just lucky, who knows.
But this what worked for me.
I hope this can help someone as I could not with the help of god find any useful help regarding this problem.

Thanks kind man You helped finish my struggle!
The only thing I want to add is that the ROM from the original link is no longer available, so I found the correct ROM using Google from the original filename here https://firmware247.com/lenovo-tab4-a10-plus-tb-x704f-firmware/
