7 vibrations but I can get to hboot and green htc splach screen - HTC Inspire 4G

Hi there
I have an HTC inspire 4G and I'm trying to install a rom on it just to get to work :/
And I've already fixed hboot problem thanks to chrisb906 and I tried several RUUs and it doesn't seem to work even if they are successfully installed!
If I boot it normally I get : 1 vibration > htc green splach screen > 2~3 secs later > 7 vibrations > black screen > nothing!
here is what I get in HBOOT

Bootloader must be locked to run ruu. S off is ok though.

Can he just relock boot loader and flash the ruu?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk

Now things are getting a bit weird, my father just flashed a rom in hboot and now the phone doesn't vibrate anymore, but still on, I mean it's like what I said erlier (the htc green and then the black screen) w/out the 7 vibration, but still get nithing : black screen. Do I need to flash an RUU now?
BTW: I flashed the recovery but I couldn't access to it.

I'm in hangouts. Plz go there

Yes. That will work. If fastboot commands don't work to 're lock then it's the wonderful emmc chip problem.

OK I will ask him. Thanks again dude

What exactly happened to the phone to get it to the state you are in. Also how did you unlock and were you able to relock? Is the ruu on pc showing full progress with status bar and everything up to saying successful with no errors?

1)Yes when I fixed hboot, it showed me "RELOCKED" and then when to htcdev and unlocked it, and then relocked it for the ruu, and btw, I flashed an ruu w/out relocking it and it tells me that it was a success
2)Yes the green bar in the HTC white logo and black background showed a green progress bar and finished w/o any error, and I was able to try many of them w/ both the PD98IMG.zip and the .exe file.
What should I do now?
BTW, I used the suggestion of chrisb906 and the ruu showed me that the software ( that my father flashed) is 1.xx (where xx are other numbers) and told me if I'm sure to upgrade to 3.xx ( I accepted), then the phone went back to the 7 vibrations.

Gizmoe will help u. Let him know when to meet him online as he don't log on often

It definitely sounds like something is screwy. I would just lock bootloader and run that ruu again. Let it be a few days.

Chris mentioned you said it happened out of nowhere which is what happens when the emmc becomes corrupted usually by a bad chip. It seems the ruu is writing to the device but a certain portion of the chip is not being overwritten. The last thing you could try is to strip apart a Rom in the PD98IMG format and manually flash it via fastboot commands. You would take the boot.img and the system.img, unlock bootloader and then type
"Fastboot -w" to erase user data
Both img files should be in same directory as cmd and then type
"fastboot flash boot boot.img"
"fastboot flash system system.img"
If phone is still not booting then your chip is not functioning properly and the phone is pretty much useless.

how did you manage to get S-OFF???
The Team Win Recovery Project download attached above flashes to recovery and boots fine on an HTC-unlocked and rooted EVO Design 4G. This is without having S-OFF. I haven't tested all of the features, but the USB storage toggle works as well as the basic menu functions.
(I'm assuming the comment above about needing S-OFF is specific to the CWM project.)

does not work on locked boot loader.. tries to reboot into the flashed recovery then goes into the triangle of death....
The above recovery works on the htc hero s (exact phone as the evo design). Do installs/methods in this order: Root (2 scripts known to work), unlock bootloader tool from htcdev, then flash the ph44img file above from the boatloader & twrp recovery will be installed.
As grad said, I told him last night. Or should I say showed him that it works on the hero s. How ever since the op has to link to a **** site you can't register on for anything. Here is my cwm build working on the hero s and should be on the design.

Download the PH44IMG.zip that is on the first page of this thread. Inside the zip file you will see a file name "android-info.txt" make sure that it reads "cidnum: SPCS_001". This should correct the error message if you have a HTC EVO Design 4G.

I have been looking into rooting and installing custom firmware onto my HTC One X for about 2 weeks now and I am still very confused and I have been having trouble finding information. I'd really like to install cyanogen mod 10 or maybe jelllybean somehow? I am terribly lost and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. Please any help at all would be appreciated!

Thanks for the reply! I tried holding the volume and power. Just keeps restarting my phone. Am I missing something?
Since you're new, word of advice for you. Never install something called cwm (clock work mod) or icj (ice cold jelly). They will kill your phone. Well, cwm won't kill it but you still shouldn't use it.
There are stickies in the developer section on how to root your phone.

Turn phone off. Press power button - phone will turn white. Imediately (while still holding power button) press and hold volume down button. Buttons at bottom will flash, release power button. keep holding volume button down. A new white screen will appear which is the bootloader.

I was reading through those but didn't understand how to actually get to installing cyanognmod 10. Do I have to root first and then unlock the bootloader? I can't even tell what hboot I have. Maybe you could help?
First things first. Were you able to get into your bootloader?
There should be a line that says hboot: somenumber. Write that down.
I gotta get some sleep though. Maybe others can help you tonight?

Once you have rooted and unlocked the boot loader download goo manager from the playstore. Then open the app and hit menu and select the option to install custom recovery script. It will download something and ur phone will restart. Now you have twrp on ur phone. To flash a rom simply download a ROM to ur SD card, press power, select reboot, select recovery mode, once the phone reboots it will go into twrp. From there just find the rom you want to flash and do so. O suggest doing factory restore first from the options. Once you flash rom flash gapps if its an aosp ROM like cm10. That's it ur done. Oh and make a backup. I never do but w.e you should.

Also, S-ON shouldn't matter as long as your bootloader is unlocked...the only thing S-ON would affect, is the fact that you would need to flash the boot.img separately, but that wouldn't cause the ROM flash to display errors your receiving...fastboot flash a new recovery, reboot your bootloader, open your new recovery, completely wipe, and try again, using 2.4.1.0 or 2.4.1.1.

Was asking bc didn't know if you could have gotten an S3 that way. I know nothing of the S3's except for processor speed is 1.7 I believe. But, if you flashed NRG it must be S4.
If you still have issues I would reformat sdcard, backup to pc first. I would then wipe all in recovery 3X to include System. Then reflash rom.

With the suggested TWRP I am able to flash ICS roms and JB roms (after flash zip I need to fastboot boot.img). The problem is that I can't get back to ICS roms with nandroid backup.

What can I do? RUU back?

Here is my question how were u changing radios on that hboot (1.14)
probably with the cm or sense radio installers in the dev section--
they are put into System on your phone

Yes, just like rugmank said there is a flashable zip called "Temporary Radio Installer V2" that helps you change the radio on JB sense based roms. It's great.
Do you know if I still need to match my RIL to my RADIO?
Regards.
Im not sure, I have always gotten satisfactory results, by getting the latest radio and even more so by editing the build prop this last one can change the speed drasticly do u have the values for your location and carrier?

Test Device

While looking through the tell HTC section of my phone today there is a message in red stating that my phone is a test device. As stated in another thread it's s-off but not rooted. Just wondered if there are any disadvatages to it being a test device?
Thanks in advance.

That's interesting. Maybe super CID or S-OFF causes this? If that is so, they HTC must know that we S-OFFed their ***** asses, lol. I mean, since you can't turn it off and they just started seeing all these "test devices" popping up.

You actually can go back to S-On. It's extremely easy too... I've had to do it for two faulty replacement devices recently.

I don't have this option in my settings menu. I'm HTC dev unlocked, super cid and S-Off and running viper 2.2. That error reporting and tell HTC option doesn't even exist on my device..
Maybe for install RUU with bootloader unlocked and s-off?.
I know one with same problem after install RUU.

Probably taken out of custom ROM menu settings. I'm on the official Jelly Bean update. Stock Rom in other words. Not sure how to tell with a custom rom, or perhaps error reporting is completely removed from some of them.

Looking for help in Reno

I am hoping to find someone in the Reno, Nevada area with experience in fixing issues like mine.
I'm simply looking for help in recovering my HTC One X. I attempted to switch from CM to CleanROM and failed. Now nothing will mount when I attempt to flash, boot, or anything else I have tried. I have bootloader and TWRP access but from all the many threads out there I have found nothing to resolve the issue and don't have the experience to sort through any more threads to figure out if I am getting closer to a fix or not.
Thank you.

yes however I have tried three different ones. each one fails at the end telling me I have the wrong one.
I got the RUUs from Android RUUs dot Com and the Evita page there. I'm new so I can't post the link.
You need the right RUU for your CID. You have to relock the bootloader and flash stock recovery. Then you will be able to run a matching RUU

I am down loading the Guru Reset M7 1.26.502.15 RUU right now in the hopes that will resolve things.

You need a matching RUU. M7 is for HTC One! Before you run the RUU you need to change the CID back to stock value and install the stock recovery for your device.

I am having a difficult time figuring out how to find the original CID for this phone. Any advice?

Right now ADB says 'error: device not found' on just about anything I try. No progress.
I guess this is going nowhere with me driving. I am ready to try anything else someone might want to suggest. Thank you!

Just boot to fastboot and run the ruu. You don't need ADB.

It is now saying the image size is incorrect. I am downloading the RUU once again to be sure I have it correctly downloaded and will try to install again.
