Is the equalizer setting missing on the version of Google Play Music on the M8, or am I just not seeing it?

I'm not seeing it either. It may be because HTC has their Boomsound stuff going on in the background when using external audio... Like on my Droid Maxx when I tapped on the Equalizer setting in Play Music, it would bring me to a totally different equalizer "app" than on my Nexus 5 because of Motorola's EQ software.

So I'm running dirty unicorns with the bub a kernel, and I have experienced this on other cm10.1 ROMs, I'm just wondering if anyone else notices this, but when im playing music and tap on apps or the app launcher my music stops for a quick second and returns. Very annoying for those who listen to music while doing other stuff

Yeah, CyanogenMod 10.1 is buggy as hell, but 10 was much much worse for heavy music listeners. It started playing itself, repeating songs when you skip a track, and often refused to play songs. So don't go backwards, you'll be far worse off.

Use a player like PlayerPro + DSP Pack or Poweramp. They have their own audio decoding libraries, so they don't use the inbuilt Android audio decoder. As a result you experience no issues when playing music. I use PlayerPro & DSP Pack which also seems to use less battery than the inbuilt decoder even with LPA mode.
I always used Google Play Music when I had cyanogenmod. Apollo is a pile of ****e. Google Play Music made it slightly betterm but neither of them have anything on HTC's music player, that is the best by far.

Yeah f**k Apollo, check out PlayerPro, there's a 14 day trial. Make sure you get the DSP Pack also. Functionality wise I think it blows every other player away, and you could probably skin it to look like the Sense player too. But with 100x more features.
Brothers! Hola!
Right now im using stock ROM. And have a terrible sound, a lot of bass, sometimes laggs and "scratches" during listening music, phone become unresponsive for a moment.
I've changed Google Play Music app to Apollo CM player. Now it's ok in case of stability. But settings of the played music (Equalizer) makes me cry and my ears bleeding.
What you can recommend, maybe another player app?
Thanks for your attention

Just browse. Upon purchasing my phone, I immediately rooted and the such and downloaded a third-party equalizer. I uninstalled the stock one and replaced it with the equalizer of my choosing.
The new Play Music app is kinda unstable, but I use it all the same. I suggest keeping Apollo and trying out a couple of equalizers.
Love Apollo. Great app. Themable too

I love PowerAmp (built in EQ) but since I signed up for the Play Music subscription, I've been relegated to the Play Music app. I'm on CM 10.1 now and it's nice to have system wide DSP.
I just bought an AT&T Note 5 yesterday. While loving it, I can't get the equalizer to work. I've tried several equalizer apps and the Spotify onboard equalizer but none of them work. The only one that does work is the PowerAMP built-in EQ. But I only use Spotify as my main source of music as all of my playlists and collection are through the app. My downloaded playlists are not recognized by PowerAMP so I can't locate them with the app. Has anyone had anything similar or any info on how to remedy the issue?
Is there a way to choose a song that's in my phone's media library to play on the phone? I'm using Poweramp, but wouldn't mind moving to Samsung music or Google Play music if they have Tizen apps.

I don't know if this works with Poweramp, but you can use pre-installed mp3-player app on your Gear to control your music on your phone. At least with Google play music.
Inside mp3-player app you can choose the source with the icon on the top right.

Am I missing the default music app somewhere? All I see is Google Play Music. What is everyone using? VLC? Poweramp?
So there isn't one?
I don't see any... I'm using light app Vanilla from playstore...
I'm using PowerAmp. Been using it for years.
USB Audio Player Pro last 4 phones.
It's a pretty clean phone other than Netflix. I disabled most of their stock apps. It comes with play music I think and you could use their file manager. I use Black music player and have enjoyed it for quite a bit now
Player Pro FTW. And it has an insane DSP addon
