Please help: Newbie with T-Mobiles Galaxy S3 SGH-T999L Newest build
Please forgive me if I've over looked any other post about this. I am definitely, a complete infant when it come to phones. I did manage to root a Motorola Atrix 2 (MB865) which I paid to have unlocked from AT&T. I never did anything to the phone other than root it; didn't know what to do after that. I did install Titanium Backup, Superuser, and froze some apps but that's it.
I now have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 Lte SGH-T999L with Android Version 4.3; Baseband Version: T999LUVUBNF4;
Build Number: JSS15J.T999LUVUBNF4.
I would love to root this phone, install mods, kernels, etc. but the main thing I'm worried about first is removing bloatware and apps that I don't use but I cant find anything recent that shows how to root, remove bloatware, etc.on a Galaxy S3 Lte with this newer Build Number.
Please, if there is anyone that can point me in the right direction, give me a step-by-step.....I don't know how to downgrade a phone to stock (whatever that means, maybe the way the phone came out of the box???) I want to learn badly and I know every phone is different but I can't afford to mess up the only two phones I have; especially the Galaxy S3 LTE. I would greatly appreciate ANY HELP just remember, I don't know much of anything at all. I can take and read directions...might have to read them more than once but what the hell.

[Q] Jelly Bean samsung galaxy nexus SPRINT help

I want to download the ROM for the samsung galaxy nexus for SPRINT here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737745
Can someone explain how. I heard that this rom does not require rooting your phone, is that true?
If I need to root my phone what is the best one for a mac.
Also, I just want to test this out for developing something, so how can I take it off.
Lastly, what is nandroid, cause someone said i will need it before i use the rom
THANKS

Rooting Galaxy S Blaze 4g

Hi so im looking to root my galaxy s blaze to get rid of some of these developer apps . im still running 2.3.6 with UVLF5 and need a guide on how to do this . Obviously never rooted before so appreciate all the help i can get Thanks
Yes ive looked around for a guide but as beastmodes states "anyways here goes the step by step assuming that you have a Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4g T769 and are on ICS
UVLH5 firmware." which im not running UVLH5
Cant find a post thats current for rooting
I am also using UVLF5
I am also using UVLF5 as well and I really need at least ICS OFFICIAL or Kitkat CM11 I need this rooted in my life!!!
Sent from my SGH-T769 using XDA Free mobile app
uvlf5
OP,
I am in the same ballpark too. I would love to get a new phone, but I can't justify the cost! I pay 3.95 / mnth to T-Mobile for insurance so I am hoping just to replace my T769 with a new one every year. I don't root my phone because it makes it somewhat unstable, so if you want to go to CM11 which is much better than 2.3.6, it will just make your Blaze unstable. The GPS won't work all the time, and the phone won't work right. I does weird things with the display occasionally. I have run on Gingerbread until I get a new phone. I have tried to save Baseband, ( the efs folder ) and upgrade to CM11 then replace it with the old Baseband. It didn't seem to work for me, at least in "About Phone" on CM11 Baseband Version was "Unknown" which is probably a bad thing.
If they could clear the "efs" folder issue when you backup, that would be great. For now I use MyBackup "free" and backup the Apps and Data. Every month or so, I backup and factory reset and restore to clean everything out.

[Q] Samsung galaxy ace q/appeal

The phone i am looking to get is called the samsung galaxy appeal in USA, or the samsung galaxy ace q in canada.
the main draw to this phone is its design - a real slide out keyboard.
but im just confused as far as which directions for rooting i would follow? I cant find any directions specific to that phone model, only the "samsung galaxy ace" but that and the phone I want are quite different. the model number for mine is sgh-i827D, if that helps.
My plan was to play around with it and put the latest (stable/recommended) version of android onto the phone before adding any personal touches. I know its operating system is older now but i really do enjoy the physical style of the phone itself.
Any advice would be great, thanks!
If it helps, once i root, as far as i know the only thing id want to do is upgrade the android version.

Latest official Rom--> NOT AVAIABLE (or may be i'm dumb)
But i thought that was the point of rooting, so that way technically every rom is available to every phone?
Ive seen people say they got their regular ace running version 4.4

Ace on 4.4 is possible but not recommended as its just a bit too slow for KitKat. The point is that custom roms are communtity made and if there is no community, bacause of neraly no one owns the phone you have, there will be no custom roms.
I was not even able to find the stock rom for i927D provided b samsung on the internet. I would always inform myself about the abilities to mod a device before buying it.

Your on a locked bootloader. You can't revert back to another baseband, your on NE1 and stuck on it

Root it, are you planning on installing a custom rom? If so then you won't have to worry about it auto updating but if not remove two files. Fwupgrade.apk and sdm.apk

Yes i will probably do a custom rom i havnt looked into them but im thinking it might help towards getting 4g with straight talk. Do you happen to know if they will need the phone active to do the jtag or if i can transfer my number to have a phone while its out

I doubt the phone will need to be active to perform the jtag service, I don't see why you can't transfer your number to another phone. I've done it in the past and it was quite easy
