hey guys, would anyone know where i could find a simply basic app engine for android? im thinking of porting "cards against humanity" by a simple way, im not gonna release much detials so nobody steals it but pretty much for now all i want is for it to have two option of cards (black question cards and white answer cards) super simple for now. eventually i would like to take ahold of googles recent play games update with the mutiplayer and put in a point system

Hi! I've been looking for a few apps to make my phone better and I realized that I urgently need an app to delete all of my phone if it will be stolen! I also need an app that will record short voice reminders.
I've found a few but they didnt have a nice GUI and I hate the winmo GUI. can anyone recommend some nice looking apps for my needs above?
Saw this yesterday
pretty much does what you need for the stolen phone part although might not look as nice as you want. but who needs looks when you can have functionality, no?

so ive always wanted to learn some sort of programing language but never really had the motivation to sit and learn one. came across this app inventor beta and ended up getting the invite having lots of fun with it but when it comes down to it... its lacking quite a few features. one app im working on is one that will let you browse different themes, preview them, download them and launch metamorph so you can apply the theme but... like i said, its lacking the the function to actully download. i have found a way around this but it kinda makes the app pointless. app inventor has the ability to launch another program (the work around i found would be to launch the browser pointed at the download link) but if one used any other browser than stock, then it wouldnt quite get the desiered affect im going for. let me get to my point...
im hoping someone could make me a app that has just a few features that my app inventor app could call on for the download part of things. those features im hoping for are...
1. allow user to set a default directory (first time running the app) that things get downloaded to (or even just having "androidthemes" folder being the place the app would download to
2. ofcorse download a zip when the app is opened with a url directed at it
3. close once the zip has been downloaded
i dont really care for any kinda progress bar or anything like that, metamorph zips are usually quite small and really hope someone can wip this up for me. i am having lots of fun with app inventor and its teaching me lots. hopefully someday i can start learning java or some other programing language. fell free to ask any questions on whatever and.... thanks in advance
Nuthin huh,i thought someone would help me out.
So, I decided that the $5 for the car cradle from verizon was too tempting. I've recieved it and have been using it for a day or so and it serves it's purpose. A good charging station that keeps it from sliding around my center console. I'd like to utilize the CarCradle app, but with the removal of bing (I'm not disappointed by this) the app dead-ends when selecting Maps, Voice Search & Navigator. Would it be possible to re-establish links to Google Maps, Goodle Voice Search & Google Navigator instead? I know that there are many other car apps on the market but this one isn't terrible, providing that the links work.
I've unpacked the .apk file but it's like trying to read Swahili. I wouldn't know the first place to begin. I'd like to eventually try my hand at app building but I'm a long way off.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.
Peace,
Ray
sure, wouldn't be hard at all actually! I'll work on this sometime this week/weekend
wouldnt this be considered as warez if it was modded for foryo.
Thanks Trailblazer, I look forward to seeing your result. The desk cradle app is suffering from the same de-binged issue if you're interested. I still don't understand why Samsung didn't allow for any customization with these two apps. Oh well, it is what it is.
Bierce22, I don't know. If that were the case you could say the same about 75% of the apps that make their way out to the public. Transparent widgets and apps and such would be similar, I would think. For that matter the froyo rom we now have could be considered the same. But I don't know the ins and outs of all this stuff. I'm just a simple end user looking the get the most out of a pretty good phone with lots of potential.
this is just my opinion i dont wont to start a big debate or flaming contest but i remember when theimpailer got in trouble for modding andgry birds to get it to run on lower devices he took out the adds in order to make it work. i just dont want to see someone get into trouble. if u fix it then keep it to yourself and problem soloved lol.
It's all good, I didn't see it as the beginning of a flame anything. The way I see that situation, and I only know what you have posted here, is that Angry Birds is a paid app in the market. Modding that and reposting could be considered copyright infringement, much like reposting an mp3 of a song on the old Napster. These Apps are included as part of the Samsung android os. I guess to eliminate the possibility of being infringement the "proper" thing to do would be to mod the app and only include it in an updated ROM. That way only current Continuum owners could aquire the Apps. But the nature of the open source OS is the ability to freely share modification and development. At least that's the way I see it, for whatever that's worth. Thanks for keeping us honest though. Simply because you can doesn't always mean that you ought. I don't see any issue with this situation... Then again, I'm a little biased as I'm the one interested in the mod. ;-)

Cradle Apps
Hi All,
I started the same musings on the accessory thread, then I started downloading alternatives. I haven't tried any of them because my car cradle was working with Google Maps and Search. I wonder if the de-Bing rom works the same way. I haven't tried that either. I get the same errors you speak of with the original 2.2 rom. I think to use these alternatives you just need to use something like Root Explorer to rename the stock app and name the new one the original stock app name. Search and you shall see the results of the different apps. I can post what I found if needed.
Ok so I did a lot of searching and have not been able to find anything for this... I found a couple of threads started by people asking if it is possible or if there is one that exists but those did not receive any real responses so I'm hoping that one of the amazing devs here can help please. I'm debating making a thread in the general Android Development forum so that maybe I'll reach a wider audience.
So what I'd like is a homescreen widget, or possibly a Live wallpaper, which shows the live cards from Google Now.
There are countless Google Now themed UCCW skins that people have put out. I don't want that.
I also found a way to create homescreen icons that LOOK like Google Now cards. But all those do is launch apps, they do not update with live information from Google Now.
I'm not sure why Google Now wasn't created with a widget. It just seems to make sense. It's kind of annoying that you have to open the app to get all this information, instead of having it right in front of your face on your homescreen where you can access other apps quickly as well. I mean the point of google now is to present you with information before you need it right? How is that possible if I can't get the info without opening the app.
So I'm hoping there is, if anything, some sort of work around here.
Maybe someone knows of a way to create a widget with desktop visualizer that will show the live Google now cards and update them.
I'm hoping for a scrollable widget that will be almost exactly like Google Now (i.e new cards will pop up as they do in the app, you can scroll up and down to view all of the cards you currently have, you can swipe to remove cards - (come to think of it you probably won't be able to swipe to remove cards, but maybe a double tap or something?))
It would probably be best if this widget did not include the google search bar and simply showed the google now cards.
I remember hearing about an app in the past that could overlay live wallpapers on each other. Is there a way to overlay an app into a live wall paper? so that you could see Google Now as your live wall paper, even if maybe you can't actually interact with it this way?
For now I'm going to try setting up something with tasker, so that google now will automatically open every morning when I turn off my alarm, and possibly at other points (maybe when a new card pops up or something). Something similar to this could probably be done with the smart actions app if people are interested in trying that out. But honestly I feel like this is not the best solution because I'd rather not have tasker running constantly, eating my RAM and therefore my battery.
So I don't know if the reason there is no widget already is because it simply is not possible. And if it's not possible could someone please explain why?
Also, so that I can try to work on this myself - can someone please help me by telling me which files Google now uses for getting and updating cards? (i.e. the file names I would see in Titanium or under Settings>Apps or in a file explorer where they would be located - I'm guessing somewhere in the /system/ folder) If I can access these I can play around with them and try some things out
TIA to all who reply...
Given that Google Now is a bit of a battery drain already, I'd imagine that having it constantly running and updating cards would use even more. The cards ARE available in the pulldown menu, aren't they? I haven't used it in a while... Still on ICS until Moto+Rogers updates the OS sometime in Q1 '13 now. >.<

I got a Razr Maxx HD because I don't want to worry about battery drain. It's been something holding me back with every other phone I ever owned. I hear that the regular Razr HD gets pretty amazing battery life as well. I'm not looking for reasons why I wouldn't want this. I'm looking for reasons why it would not be possible or a way to make it possible.
Sorry to hear about Rogers...
But if you are rooted you should be able to install Google Now for ICS

I am looking for the same thing as you but maybe we need to be writing to the Google dev team instead.

I also discovered that pressing the home button and swiping up brings up Google Now. That is good enough for me, and I can live without the widget.

This. It works from any app and it only takes a second to load.
Hello.
I'm looking for an app for Android, similar to this one for iPhone.
I'm getting married, and I want to make a virtual gallery of special pictures, so others can enter on it and navigate through it, it's a very special idea and I want to make it real without having to buy an iPhone.
Any suggestions? I found this one but it has too many limitations, I want it to be felt for anyone who enters it, I mean, no offenses, but as a gamer, that app is like CS1.6 in this times ^^
Thanks in advance to anyone who could help.
