I have provided a complete list of whats removed. It is your responsibility to check the list and remove the lines to apps you wish to keep.
Just edit updater with notepad++ or whatever editor you like. Some Applications require other apps or libs/plugins to properly work. Make sure you know what is needed for the apps you want.
*********************************************READ ME****************************************************************
What to do if you get a binary error in recovery!!!!!
Take an updater-binary from the meta-info folder of your rom and replace the one in the zip!!!
Location reporting generally gets disabled. You can open maps or etc,and it should bring up location settings. Just turn it back on if you need it. Option may not be present at first in settings. It will return once properly called. This is due to removing some Google spyware.
Motion Gesture is tied into HTC Speak Services. If you want to keep it you must keep Speak.See post 11 for list of items to reinstall or remove from script.
WARNING
Language pack removal occurs.Remove any language lines you want to keep from updater!!!

If you provider me with a list of your carriers bloat ware I will add to next update.
If you found another apk to remove post it and I will check it out.

Hi ! Thank you so much for this, it works great! Quick question though, I quite like the HTC Speak app, adn motion gesture, and I'm almost positive i've removed everything related to it, but it doesn't work anymore ? Would you be able to tell me which apps are needed for it to function correctly ? Thanks in advance !
I should be home in about 3 hrs. Then I can give you some help. There's quite a few item to get speak to work again. I'll check about motion gesture also.

Thanks for script, it usually takes me ages to deleting one by one.
@blaz1nrThank you for the script.
I have a question. Motion gestures are now removed but every time I pick up the phone to turn it on it vibrates before I press on button. Is there a motion gesture file still around causing this?
Also, double tapping on center of phone causes the vibration too while screen off.

The only things that are removed affecting the motion gesture, come from HTC speak. The removal of motion gesture came as a surprise to me . I did a lot of digging around to find it was actually part of HTC speak. Going by what your telling me. There might be something to check on.

How do you edit the script? Every time I try to edit the script it won't save. Using the ES script editor it won't let you change it because it says this file is in a zip and won't save. Sorry this is probably a dumb question.
Edit: I figured out how to do it on my computer but is it possible to do it on my phone? Just for future reference.

You have to remove updater script from zip. Edit what you need. Drag and drop it back to zip. Flash away.

How to install the Xposed Framework and Use it ( Thanks to Rovo 89)
For the framework:
Download XposedInstaller.apk and install it ( download below)
Launch the Xposed Installer and click on "Install/Update"
Reboot
Done!
For any modifications/modules you want to install:
Download <module>.apk and install it ( first install the app settings)
Launch the Xposed Installer and go to the "Modules" tab (you will also get there if you click on the notification warning you that the module is not enabled yet)
Enable the module by checking the checkbox
Reboot
Done!
Instructions for using modules :
Starting with Gmail
At this point i believe u have rebooted your phone after installing app settings and before that the Xposed installer itself
Open app settings and search for Gmail.
To get the kind of result displayed below
1. Change Screen(dp) settings to preferably 600*1024
2. Change font scale to 80 otherwise the dual panel will look messed up.
3. I would suggest u change the orientation to always landscape - worked best for me - depends on your liking
press the save button on the right top corner (then press yes) and check your newly designed gmail app right away
You can tinker with the settings and change it to your liking
Now lets move on to System Settings menu. (Dual panel!)( If u dont use Liquid smooth or AOKP)
search for settings in App settings
in the settings menu
Change DPI to 160
Screen(dp) to 1000*1600
and font scale to 130 ( ORIENTATION PREFERABLY ALWAYS LANDSCAPE )
Now save and check it out!
For the same thing - But If u use LiquidSmooth or AOKP)
Search for force dual panel in your system settings menu and check it.
Then go to app settings -> settings -> and then
Change DPI to 160
Font Scale to 110
Save and enjoy!
Now one last example for the PLAY STORE
Search for playstore in the app settings list and enter it.
Change DPI to 160
Font Scale to 110
Screen(dp) to 1000*1600 ( ORIENTATION PREFERABLY ALWAYS LANDSCAPE - YOUR CHOICE - WORKS BOTH WAYS )
Additional Settings for each app:
1. u can check fulscreen to disable statusbar in that app
2. Check screen on to change display timeout to never!( it will always stay on in that ap
3. go to locale settings and select the language u want to display it in!
It is cool to set SystemUI to 160, it makes your status bar very small, but still noticeable and visible.
Then, as I remember I couldn't get it to work on ViperS 3, SenseUI did FC. But on 1.6.3 it work like a charm, only issue is some icons in settings are not shown as they should - they become a red square.
EDIT: On ViperS 3.0.2 it works just fine, not sure what will happen after rebase tough.
Thanks will try that too. And will add links to more modules in a while

Hi guys,
I've been using the smaller softkeys mod on my old Xperia Z for half a year now (24dpi size) and just can't and don't wanna get used to these huge and annoying stock softkeys...they are so large and ugly and take away so much screenspace.
Can anybody make a flashable zip or something to make them smaller? That'll be great!
Thank you.

I'll wait the hero creates flashable soft keys 36+32 (the same mod we knew on the XZ)
I'm happy to make a flashable zip for this. It's a pretty simple mod to do..once you know how.
The problem is I've just got the ordinary Z (why didn't I wait a few months?!) so I'll need some files from somebody.
I'll need:
system/framework/framework-res.apk
system/framework/SemcGenericUxpRes.apk
system/app/SystemUI.apk
system/vendor/overlay/android-res.apk
That should do it.

Here are three out of four files. Unfortunately, I can't find the last file in the folder which you've specified. Please have a look at the attached screenshot which shows what's in this folder. Maybe it has a different name now or was moved to another location?

hi,
not quite sure, but if I look at the script that generates the mod files for me - it seems as if the SystemUI.odex is also needed.....
messing with the xml file to fix the back button problem seems do require new odexing from the system...
I've started this morning to download an image of your firmware because I wanted to test my softkey mod creation script.... Now I downloaded the deodexed stock firmware, since I had problems extracting system.sin.....
edit:
ok. I had to change the scripts a bit since they worked via adb to get the files needed but since I also do not have the Z1..... so I cannot test.... and this may be a bit risky...
somebody willing to try out?

maybe this?

EDIT:
but not sure if they are working....
what you can do:
take the framework-res-overlay-navbarXX.apk out of the zips above and put it into /system/vendor/overlay/
if you then have smaller softkeys, that would be step one.
I can give you a new SystemUI.apk to fix the "big back button" problem...if it is there....

but not sure if they are working....
what you can do:
take the framework-res-overlay-navbarXX.apk out of the zips above and put it into /system/vendor/overlay/
if you then have smaller softkeys, that would be step one.

what would happen if I did this and reboot? Could it be that I don't have any softkeys at all?
As a safeguard, is it a good idea to enable and autostart an app like "Auto hide softkeys" which brings its own softkey nav bar? I could use this to navigate if the other option fails? Or is it also tied to the stock soft keys?
I guess I'm not brave enough (yet) to test it out . I just finished setting up my Z1 a few days ago and everything is running smoothly and I don't want to mess with it.
I'll have to get annoyed enough with the stock keys or my current replacement (Auto hide softkeys) in order to take the plunge.

If it does not work, nothing should happen actually... Worst case: no softkeys.. fix: open a root explorer, navigate to system/vendor/overlay and delete the apk....

hi,
not quite sure, but if I look at the script that generates the mod files for me - it seems as if the SystemUI.odex is also needed.....
messing with the xml file to fix the back button problem seems do require new odexing from the system...

That's easy enough to fix. We'd need to edit the navbar.xml and remove the 'android:scaleType' bit of code from the back softkey line.

here we go....
you need to delete SystemUI.odex inside /system/app
and replace SystemUI.apk with the attached one. make sure it has 644 permissions. ("chmod 644 /system/app/SystemUI.apk")
But please do a backup and enable USB debugging before deleting anything! so you might have a chance to revert your changes if something goes wrong....

[Disclaimer: this is my first use of APKTOOL. So, this may be a bit buggy, and I'll state that up front. No bugs so far, but feedback is appreciated and will be used to tweak/fix it up.]
I noticed some other ROM had done this, but I couldn't find it. So I modified the EasyOneHand.apk to attempt to make it have a black background, to save power and save your eyes in a dark room. After all, black pixels use zero power on an OLED screen.
[As luck would have it, the chef of the X-NOTE rom responded and told me his ROM was the one that had it. Of course, I didn't see his response quickly enough and I had already gotten impatient and did it myself, so I thought I'd post it anyway. Credit to him for the inspiration for my learning...]
I have attached my mod as well as the original stock files (APK and ODEX) for replacement. I have added an Update.Zip for those who prefer to let the magic happen automatically. There is also a dark version - just be sure to rename it and overwrite the existing file to install it. The dark version intentionally has white edges so you can easily see where the screen border is.
Extract this to your /system/app folder, overwriting the existing one. Be sure to delete the corresponding ODEX file if it exists. Set the permissions to the same as the other files in the folder (chmod 644).
Let me know how it works for you!
Updates
======================================
* Added Update.zip
* Added dark version (2013-11-17)

Frequently Access Questions

But it didn't work!!! Did you reboot? You've gotta reboot, if you copy the file manually. Also, if using Update.Zip, it's best to clear cache/dalvik-cache.
Can I reuse or repackage this? Sure! Just give credit and send a link back to this thread.
How do I enable One Handed Mode? Look at the settings screenshots for details. You have to go to Settings -> Device -> One Handed Operation. Turn on "Use for All Screens." Then click the link at the bottom for the tutorial.
One handed mode is not working even after rebooting! Make sure you have all accesibility apps turned off.

Hi there! I tried to install this mod unsuccessfully by replacing the file as instructed, then tried to replace with the original files and didn't work either. tried to flash and nothing. So right now I lost the one handed operation. I´m kind of noob so I think I´m probably doing something wrong, or perhaps is a different version depending on the phone, I have a N900W8. If anyone could help me would be very appreciated.
EDIT:::
I found the solution by desactivating "any dash" app from accesibility. I think it has something to do with this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465085&highlight=one+hand+operation

Thanks Slappy! This works great! (although the update.zip failed to work via TWRP recovery. Have to manually replacing the apk)
Suggestions
1. Change the frame of the windows to deeper color as it's still white which wastes bit battery.
2. I don't know if this is feasible. Can the One Hand Mode stay after unlocking screen?
3. Can it also work for landscape mode?
Thanks again for your great great effort!
it seems like your apk is from a rom earlier than mj6 thats why it is not working with accessibility ON...so please please update it with a newer apk from mj6 or newer

I'm working on darkening it today. I have been working through quitting my job and finding another, so have been occupied as of late... I'm going to change it from #ffffff to #222222.
As to points 2 and 3, it is not something I have looked into, but I'll do some research. I believe that it is just the way it works (in other words, TouchWiz only calls the app when it is in portrait and it does not allow it to survive a lock/unlock.)

I have added a dark version, as per your request. I was actually thinking about this for some time myself. The X-Note ROM author made an all-black version, but I found it was hard to tell where the screen edges were, so I went with a dark gray and left the edges white so you can see them better.

You'll need to be rooted blah blah blah. Just let me know if you need more info.

The HTC Camera isn't compatible with the GPe. GPe lacks the Sense framework which the HTC stock apps rely on. They ported some of the apps (Weather for DotView, DotView, etc) but most wont work. I wish it did, because HTC camera is 100x better than the Google one.

Thanks for letting us know !!! That blows. I guess I'll just keep my phone the way it is then. I'm not a selfie addict or anything but the only reason why I havent installed GPe on my M8 is the camera. The interface is awesome and super responsive. The google camera just sucks... really bad. I guess I'll stick to Sense based ROM with kitkat launcher installed.

You don't install system apps. Set the permissions of the apks to match the rest of the permissions in the folder and reboot. You should be good to go.
You can change the permissions with Root Explorer. Maybe other file browsing apps.

I've only tested on my HTC One M8 running Sense 6 4.4.2 but seem to be working on many other devices. I can not make this work on every device or every ROM. It is a port with a lot of system resources specific to LG. So if it works, Great... if not I'm sorry, Not much I can do about that.
Everything working... for me at least. (keyboard resizing, handwriting, dedicating number row, spell check and auto correct, Long press on the spacebar and move your thumb left or right to scroll through what you've typed to easily insert or modify text.)
Use at you own risk, Make sure you have a current Nandroid.
Flash in recovery and with any luck it will work on most ROMS. Specifically 4.4.2
Zip uses busybox to install so its universal will also modify the build prop for missing keyboard functions for all non LG ROMs.
