Hi there, i just want to have feedback on my TaskOS app.
This application show to the users all the apps he opened and never closed. ( leave applications with HOME key and it will appear. Leave with back key and won't appear.)
The user can scroll between all these apps and launch one by clicking on it or kill it by dragging to the top ( like Palm PRE)
That's a beta, but all the mains features are there.
What do you think of it.
PS: i am looking for ROM developpers that would be able to launch it by long click on the "home" button or trackball/other.
Features
* customizable icon size
* wave effect ( i think i'll remove it)
* confirm killing app or not
* notification to launch easily ( looking for people who know ho to integrate this with long press on home button - trackball)
* more to come...
Will come
* theming the bar
* ignore apps by moving icon to the bottom
Screenshots:
Looks nice but why doesn't it show as many apps as say taskiller?
I'm using a Nexus One btw
For what version of Android is this? Can I run this on my 1.5 device with Sense?

I said it here: this application only kills ACTIVE app's. I don't want to kill other apps.

This version is Android 2.1 on my hero. But yes of course, you can use it on a 1,5 device with sense!
nice thought, i like it!
I'm running 1.6 stock and unfortunately it doesn't show up when
i leave any app with home-key, but i find the idea of holding
home-key pressed in order to show up really nice!
...and yeah, i stopped using *press-here-to-kill-all-tasks*
I kinda like it
some suggestions:
- gestures (like from down to up to open it)
- Lock the slide up feature while scrolling
- Maybe previews of apps (would require lots of mem somehow)?
- click anywhere other than the switcher to close the switcher
- don't display apps twice
BTW: what about making an app launcher like the wave launcher from webOS? shouldnt be too hard and very useful
I like the idea of a Pre app launcher, but I want to say something related to memory may bog things down a little bit.

alright. Nevermind the thumbnails by gestures i mean like a system one so you drag up from the bottom of the screen to open taskOS but i guess that isn't possible unfortunately... maybe use a longpress menu to open it? would be great if a different solution was possible to open the switcher up
see news here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5404622#post5404622 to launch with Home key, but i guess i won't have answers.
I think Google should allow users to make custom shortcuts by clicking on buttons!
Ignore function does not work on some screen sizes!!!!
I'll have a look thursday! Be patient
Could you possible add a memory counter at like the corner somewhere to show how much free ram we have? Also, any way to make this look/work a bit more like the WebOS cards if possible?
As for resolution I notice you have a Hero, so I take it you made the res for Hero(my Eris has the same res as the Hero)?

This isn't entirely true.
Some apps need to be force killed.
Android takes care of this only when the situation is really dire.
Why waste the valuable RAM?
Let's say you use App "X" once a day, but it's a resource (memory + cpu) hungry app, like Maps and derivatives.
Now, this is an app which will figure in the active list, but some of them like remaining in the background. Have 5 of those, and your system will work at a crawl.
Now try killing that app. You can really feel the difference, especially if you're using 7201A based handsets (that's 528Mhz).
Take a look at com.eolwral.osmonitor.
IMO, the best task manager around. And it's free (as well as ad-free).
why not mail the author and share some ideas?
You do have a innovative approach to task management (ui-wise).
i don't know if anyone has the same problems, but since last update i keep getting force closes when trying to kill an app!
edit: dis- and reenabling kill popup fixed the problem. weird.

Thank for the feedback!
You are the only one people that I heard having this problem... Really strange but i am glad that Taskos work again!
Next time, send me the logcat so i will be able to correct the bug!
Yeah, it would be nice if we could use TaskOS by holding home... The normal Android switcher is so useless.
very nice app ... will be essential if you find a way to use as task switcher (longpress home)
could you maybe add the option to hide statusbar icon?
also kinetic scrolling would be very welcome
Inertia in scrolling: seem to be so hard to implement.... You will have to wait.
Long press home: Developpers don't have access to this! I will investigate with Custom ROM developers. Imagine all apps can acces home button and you press it!
Ability to remove statusbar icon: will be done in next update.
I think that I left a bug in previous update. Nobody told me and i just corrected this evening. Sorry for the inconveniance!

So does this software now have the ability to load via the home button?
I was searching for utilities that can unlock the screen by buttons other than the power button (can't reach there all the time). Found a powerful one that does the job well (with many other options as well). Oddly, the app barely has any reviews in the Market -- maybe because the app names are in Chinese, but the app itself is English (at least for me -- it maybe just following your default language choice).
Search for "lockgo" in the market.
You will be presented with 4 apps. The main app is the one with a LOCK icon. Install that first.
After you installed the main app, install the green one with a right arrow -- that's the slide-to-unlock plugin.
That's it. The app activates itself automatically. The interface is in English. Just try to tap all the little icons on the lock screen to configure it. The options included are RSS (forget about this, seems buggy), weather (forget about this also, you'll know why when you try), calendar, SMS list, task killer(!!), app launcher, and YOUR OWN WIDGETS (so whatever widgets you have, you can add it as a separate page on the lockscreen). Most importantly (see the title of this thread), you can wake the screen up by the trackball or volume buttons.
I tried ICE before, but for some reason that one is not always responsive for me. This one is.
Great program in theory. It seems VERY unresponsive and buggy. I'll definitely keep an eye on it though and hope for improvements.

This one is always responsive for me. But hey, I agree it's still buggy - especially the RSS screen...
yeah.... still buggy... any other apps with same function? thx...
"Screen Mode Widget" allows this, however it doesn't go to lock screen when activated...just awakens the phone to what you were last doing. I use it when the phone is just gonna be laying on my desk at work and I don't want to keep pressing the power button to wake it up. The notification icon is a little buggy, as it doesn't always stay dormant even when set to be so. Otherwise, good app and I use the hell out of it.

A market search for "screen mode widget" (no "") brings it up.
Sorry, I was referring to lockgo
So i have been working on something for awhile it started on paper and Made an example in Photoshop. the Idea is you open the notification bar and you swipe left and right to move through open applications and swipe up to end them Check out attachment.
PS: I am not a programmer so I cant make this happen I just thought of it..
BTW: can you control applications from the notification bar?? if not then this is worthless...
That would be really, really good. And I like your mock-up concept as well.
Sort of like the new Dolphin HD tab browser.
You should suggest this to one of the Launcher devs.
good..because the notification bar is always on top..will be great for multitasking.
That's why I tried to do in TaskOS ( free on the Market.)
I do not use the notification bar, but a long press on the search button ( if your device doesn't have one, in the settings you can choose camera button and will try to add more)
The screenshot should be working in some custom realease of CyanogenMod..

Putting something like this in place of long pressing the home button would be the best way I would think.
I like the idea *!*!
possible? Maybe. I think of the interaction of seepu+ as an interaction example, but I don't even wasn't to think about the memory that would suck up.
Do you plan on having all the apps in memory up there? Cause that's gonnna be alot of swiping to find what you need.
Also you already have the hold down home button. That's accessible even with the notification bar hidden (various browsers, apps hide the not. bar).
I really don't get the desire to have thumbnails on handhelds for what the activity is doing. 1) they will always bee too small to use by glancin 2) you know what your switching to, before you even bring up the recent apps function. 3) There is very little "visual" activities done on a phone that warrant a "preview" in order to choose which you want to pick.
All of you could also try Power Strip and Quick Desk for great multitasking usage with the search and homescreen buttons
ITS a CONCEPT not going to happen by me...
yes, multitaslk view is more important
i like your idea of thumbnail view of each programs running in the background. it allows us to look through all running programs, instead of small icons
If it is possible, it can be shown either using the search or home button
Good concept, but I'd be thinking of using the icon of the software instead of screen preview. Better for privacy...

yes I think this is the ****! we don't need the system programs that are running, just the user programs...

The system can't differentiate between what programs the user launched and which were launched into memory automatically.

What is your problem with the apps that we send you? They do exactly what you want exept they are not in task bar ( because we cannot "draw" into the taskbar)
TaskOS
Power Strip
Quick desk
The "screenshot" will be available in some custom ROMS:

Let's face it. Samsung is known for tossing in everything but the kitchen sink. Sometimes the features stick. Sometimes they're complete duds. List some of the features you actually use that you wouldn't find in stock Android
Something I've found very useful is the edge panel smart select. For instance if something's in a language I don't understand. Select rectangular, highlight the text I want. Hit Bixby vision and it gets translated. Or an item I want to purchase it will recognize it. It's actually quite good
The option to make volume controls control media by default. Something I wish stock Android would adopt because 90% of the time when I want to turn the volume down or up its media. So I like that I can make that the primary control

I thought the Bixby button was the kitchen sink?

There is no eye icon or I'm missing something... Look at the screen shot... The word "ΤΕΛΟΣ" means "Finish" and that save the text as a photo... There isn't any icon of vision eye in all this procedure!
I'm using a text from opera browser and I try the same with a text from a photo... The same thing...

Did u actually enable the whole bixby vision service? Where u have to install it and "allow" for permissions. Pretty sure its in camera app. Then once bixby vision is good to go u should be able to use it in smart select/other places
I think the size of your selection matters. I was trying to pull a tracking number my wife sent. The first time I selected just the number. No bixby vision option. I selected more area and the option appeared.
Something else I noticed really cool is that pin to screen option. OMG so usful.
Bixby vision isssue

Hello to everybody!
Is there a way to use split screen mode while using nova launcher????
I wish to find out as well ?
Works on mine with Nova installed, but only when another app is already open, not when you are on your "homescreen" (or another page of Nova if you have more than one).
"Floating Window" mode works fine on Nova though, with no other apps open.
Swipe in from left or right to open the Multi-Window dock....
Quick press an app for Floating Window.
Drag an app from the dock to the top or bottom of the screen for Split Screen mode, but as I said this only works when an app is already open, so open one of the ones you want normally first, then open the dock and drag the other app you want to the top or bottom to give you split screen.
Not all apps are compatible with Split Screen, but there is an option in Settings/System & updates/Developer Options to "Force activities to be resizable" which may help.
Actually, you can use split screen on Nova Launcher. You just have to trigger it differently. I have no idea why. This is just the result of trial-and-error.
First turn on "force activities to be resizable" from developer options.
Now when in an app. Long press the recent apps button, release it and then press the home button. This works on my Samsung J500F with unofficial Lineage OS 17.1. Let me know if it works

However, if you go to recent apps, and long-press the icon of a particular app, it shows two options- app info, and split-screen, in Lineage OS. Any luck with that?
