GS5 No SIM card - I put in my Sandisk 64 GB straight from my GS3 and it won't read it. I assume you insert the SD card with leads face down and forward just like all the others but the phone won't recognize it. I am not rooted so can't edit in system. Any help?

I took out my microsd card from my old 8525 and put it in my fuze and it will not read it. I put it back in my 8525 and it reads it fine. I also use an adapter for my pc and windows reads it fine. Just got the phone today about 20 minutes ago. Could the microsd slot be bad? and YES I am putting it in the correct way. The SD cad is a 2GB kingston.
2GB SD cards are picky. I have a 2GB card in my camera that my laptop will only recognize about 50-75% of the time, although I've never had a problem with it in my camera nor with the card reader I have plugged into my other computer. Of course, it could be a defective slot in the phone, too. The only way to tell is to try with another card (preferably a different size).
microSD cards are cheap. I'd suggest getting a 4GB or 8GB card and seeing if the phone accepts that; if so, just use your pc to copy all the data from the old card onto your hard drive and then onto the new card. If not, you've still got a new card as well as evidence that the phone needs to be replaced.

Guess ill have to run to walmart and give one a try.
Actually I did a hrd reset and now it will read it fine. Guess its just typical windows BS.
Hello. Recently just got a 8gb class 6 micro sd card for my HTC Desire (CDMA). When I put the card it it's not being picked up by the phone. Not giving me any kind of error message in the notification bar, just acts like no SD card is installed. My previous card was an 8gb class 2 card that came with the phone, so I know it can do high capacity. Threw the card in a card reader and re-formatted it FAT32, still nothing. Tried putting the card in a friends Samsung Galaxy and it picked up fine. Also my old card still works when I put it back in the phone, so I'm truly stumped here. The phone is rooted but Im not running any custom roms..
Well i think the problem in in your phone. Maby some dust on those golden pins or something you cound try another card to check if its the card or phone itself.

My old card works fine in my phone, and the new card worked in a friends phone, and on my PC. Tried re-formatting (FAT32 and FAText) and naming the volume. For some reason my phone just won't pick it up. No error messages or anything, just acts like there is no micro sd card in it.
do i \use the old sd card, or activate like brand new. confused greatly
If you are referring to the external sd card, meaning the memory card you can remove it and you can use it in your new phone.
If you are referring to the SIM card, your replacement phone may come with a new SIM card you should be able to just reactivate it or go to your local straight talk vendor for assistance, or on line...
I have checked other threads, and this is not the same issue. The phone will say SD card unmounted, or just not think one is inserted.
The first thing I did was switch out the SD card for another class 4 two GB card, and then a class 8 sixteen GB card. Both were checked against other phones, and reformatted in fat32. All of them worked in other phones except for this atrix.
I've tried for over a year to get it fixed under warranty by my carrier says it is the SD card even though I have tried several to no avail.
I have factory restored this phone twice, and there was no change in the SD card status.
I did find a mention that the daughter board that controls the flash, and SD card can go bad. So I tried wiggling it as I inverted the card, and it gave me a new error "blank SD card," and then proceeded to say the card was not there.
So am I correct in assuming that the daughter board is bad, and just spend the $8-20 to replace that microboard?
If you are sure the cards are good, which it sure sounds like they are, I would then say it is for sure a hardware problem, before you go buy a new part and have to open things up, I would check and see if you can fiddle with the pins that contact the card. i.e. bend them too get better contact, or at leas clean the area out. if that doesn't work, a new board aught to do the trick.
From What you just said, I feel that it is either an hardware issue.. check if the slot is clean.
Which version of android are you running? It is possible that it can be a software issue too.(just my guess) try updating to better version.

Just as the title says, I am having random unmounts and remounts of my sd card when trying to download things and when trying to view gallery. Phone is not rooted, its a sprint variant, and it's a 64 GB ultra sd card. I have had this card since my note 3 and it has given me no issues up until now. Am I the only one? Is there a fix for this? It's been doing this since day one.
Sounds like it could be a bad sd card. Try getting a adapter and putting it in your computer. If it reads it back everything up and format the card.
I've had a few micro sd cards crap out on me in the past.
I had the same problem. Never had a problem worth the cardin the previous phone. Format the card in the phone, still does it get a new card. And buy a Samsung micro sd. I have had numerous SanDisk cards die and finally went to Samsung and never had a problem since.

Forgot, not matter what, BACKUP YOUR DATA NOW off that sd card. So if it is going out, at least you will not lose any data.
Thanks all
