I have three issues on my TF700 that I haven't been able to fix:
plugging in by USB does not cause a device to come up on my computer
tilting the tablet no longer causes rotation (games that require rotation also don't work)
using the camera in an app causes the app to crash
So far I've tried a factory reset, and using multiple different roms -- no amount of googling has helped me. USB does not work even in recovery mode (so no ADB/Fast Boot). Do any of you have any suggestions on troubleshooting?

1. Is probably a driver issue
2. Have you locked the rotation by mistake? Check quick settings icon.
3. Which apps?

Hey thanks for your reply!
1. USB used to work on the same computer, now it doesn't even notice that anything is plugged in (I've tried a few different ports). I'll try removing the old driver and see if that works.
2. Screen rotation is set to auto rotate in quick settings, no dice.
3. Camera, Hangouts, Skype, pretty much anything I tried the camera with.
Is there a terminal command I can run to get error messages for my hardware? I tried logcat but it didn't seem to return anything relevant.

For some reason, the Camera function on my G2X no longer works. It worked a few times previously, but now every time I launch the screen flickers and nothing launches.
Persists across reboot. Cleared data on the camera app, want to avoid wiping the phone if possible.
Anyone run into this, before, or know a fix?

Haven't run into this problem myself but you could try downloading an alternate camera app from the market to see if that works. If it does, you may have to factory reset your phone. If it doesn't, it may be the hardware(the camera itself).

I noticed this problem as well, after rooting the phone. I'm not sure if it was an issue before that or not. But what I found is that if you rotate the phone into landscape mode and then open the camera app it works fine. Only trying to open it in portrait caused me any issues. Hope this helps.

This is ridiculous.
Yet true.
I'll be resetting my phone tonight to fix the battery drain, hopefully this will be resolved at the same time. But this definitely worked, so I can test out this camera some more while I wait. Thanks!
I had this issue too. Try opening while in landscape. Once open switch to portrait then close while in portrait. You should be able to open on portrait after.
Edit: This only works some of the time
Has anyone figured out the camera issue? I had my camera working fine, I rooted the phone and now the camera just flickers around the button. Must have this camera working.
Thanks

Had same issue, as you noted the reset solved my problem, camera is working AOK. I would have hated to loose the camera function, it is a good camera.
2nd phone that my damn camera stopped working after about 15 minutes. I didn't root this phone to make sure that wasn't the issue. The camera worked after I did a factory wipe, got it all set up and was taking pictures while I was setting it up to make sure it wasn't a rogue app. Thought I was in the clear and tried to take a picture and nothing. Same problem everyone else is having. just wiped the phone again for the 3rd time and camera works, going thru same process, can anyone give me any advice on this camera. Very strange and getting real pissed off.

I use anylock to bypass my lock screen so when I get a text message (ssm popup) It will open up my screen automatic and display text message. This way I'm not always pushing my power button to gain entry to phone. Problem is the lock screen app is some how screwing up the camera app. Also tried no lock and same problem.
Just wanted to let anyone using lock screens what I encountered, maybe save you hours of resetting phone.

Mine was doing the same thing and I was about to blame it on Pauls patch. It turned out to be widget locker. I froze it in Titanium and then it came on with no problem. I was really close to wiping AGAIN. Really glad I saw this. Thank You
I used to be able to turn my xoom upside down (AC cord in top) and the screen would rotate accordingly. Now,for reasons unknown, it will not rotate upside down anymore but it will for other positions. I've tried all the various kernels and have had no luck. I'm not sure what changed that has prevented that rotation from working now. Any ideas?
did you install the ua desktop string mod? this seems to be causing this issue on the wifi model. you can test by removing and reinstalling the mod.

Ya know what I did do that mod. I'll work on taking that off and report back
THANKS! That fixed it!
My Z520e on stock ICS is stuck in landscape mode. Here's what I've tried:
factory reset
cleaning USB ports (apparently worked for a few people on this thread)
installing rotation locking apps
One peculiar symptom is that whenever I connect it to the computer using a USB cable, it switches to portrait. Pull the cable and it goes right back.
Is there any way I can fix this without returning the phone?
Not a proper solution but... disable autorotation with the htc widget?

Do you get the landscape mode on the homescreen too? That's supposed to happen only when the hdmi output is enabled.

Yes, homescreen too. And I suppose that's how it's come to pass, something like a three-finger swipe to enable MHL.
How do I fix this?
Then the problem is not related to the accelerometer, I'd guess.
Imho it's likely that the micro-usb port is bugged. You may want to try to run a RUU (you may find the ICS 2.31 RUU here), so that you can definitely exclude a software issue.
If you are rooted there could be some workaround to force the interface into portrait mode (editing the rosie.apk), but that involves some work. If your warranty is still valid I fear you need to send the phone in...
I'm actually out of warranty, so I guess I'll have to root and try tweaking the rosie.
Thanks, though!
just flashed latest KatKiss rom, its very fast, but I cannot seem to get thescreen to rotate. I have auto-rotation turned on, tried on and off, but no luck. Any ideas?
Welcome to the forum!
are you docked? If so, it wont rotate. You must be undocked and it should work just fine. If not, perhaps your accelerometer is broken. Use CPU-Z from the Play Store to look at the feedback from your accelerometers.
Sorry I was away for a while... No not docked...
I ended up installing an App from the store... Acreen Rotation Control and setting it to Auto and now everything works fine. Not sure why I had to do that, but it's working and that is good enough for me.
Thanks.

I'm having the same issue. I "solved" as you did, but it kind you sucks in my opinion. I'm using 4.3 build 020.
I'd suggest uninstalling the app and then getting a logcat (see the how to report link in the KatKiss thread) and send that to Tim to see what is preventing rotation.
Only 2 users out of probably 5k+ users have reported this issue.
for me some apps are just "sideways apps". what can you do? I just use rotation locker for that portrait mode. not sure what else to do. :sly:
Yeah, but mine has been rock solid since flashing and using the Screen Rotation Control app.
mmm...

Got similar behaviour.
Using KatKiss 4.4.2 #23 -- it can rotate the screen, but when I try to lock it in the desired position (using the "quick tile") the tile briefly flashes and the screen gets on landscape mode again.
I see it's not related to the tile, since the same happens if I get to the rotation settings on Android's "Configurations". Tried using a program from Google Play to set it (sorry, can't remember its name) and it didn't work either.
Hoping @timduru may take a look at this...

Thanks, but that's exactly the one I tried -- didn't work unfortunately.
Well, just tried latest version, KK 4.4.2_r2 #024, still no luck.
So here are the three asked logfiles.
Steps to reproduce the problem:
Autorotation is enabled, and I'm using the tablet in landscape mode. Turned it right (ie, counter-clockwise), worked as it should (screen rotated).
Then I opened the "tiles menu" (the one in the right upper corner, below the clock) and pressed the rotation tile.
It briefly changes to the "locked” icon, but turns again to the "normal" one and puts the tablet again in landscape mode!
Interesting enough, the menu remains opened but the icon is seen as the "locked" one.
By the way -- tested undocked.
Many thanks @timduru -- apart that it's an outstanding ROM. Hope to hear you soon. :good:
Update: auto-rotation working as expected on KatKiss 4.4.2 version #026, no additional software needed -- many thanks @timduru!
Hi,
I recently updated my TF101 to KatKiss 6.0.18. Since then, have the same problem with screen not rotating. Tried installing several applications that should rotate, but this does not solve the problem.
Tried also the "dropping the tablet" trick recommended by some on Google, but this also without any success. With the Check Sensor app, values remain to 0. Everything was fine beforehand with KK 4.4.
Any hint ?
Thanks
Would some of you smarter people please help figure out what's going on? I/you can then file a bug report which won't result in it being closed due to their misunderstanding.
The primary issue is that music stops playback when a USB-C adapter is used, once the screen locks. I've used three different ones, which I can't identify the differences between with my skillset of linux, but they all produce the issues and one does treat the microphone differently.
It's not related to screen off timeout, only lock screen timeout. If I lock the screen, music stops. If I set the lock timeout 30 seconds after the screen off timeout, music stops 30 seconds after the screen is off.
The secondary and deeper issue is that if fingerprint or face unlock are enabled, it causes a 7+ second delay in unlocking, or it "breaks" screen unlocking entirely (until the adapter is removed), or can even result in a hard crash or "soft" (yeah?) crash of the OS. However, this is only if a certain type of audio session is running with Android (which I don't understand anything about), until the headphone adapter is removed. If left in, it can cause the phone not to unlock or even crash and reboot.
The broken lock screen does not occur if using an app such as Simple Music Player, although the music does still stop when the screen locks. It doesn't do the same type of audio session with the operating system that Amazon Music, Audible, or Podcast Addict do. I know this only because Wavelet doesn't detect the audio session, so it's very likely not an app issue but an OS issue with how the audio session type causes this problem.
The broken or delayed lock screen does not occur if I turn off face and fingerprint unlocking. It works normally with entering a PIN and there's no delay.
The fingerprint scanner is broken, no matter what, if face unlock is also enabled.
If I delete the stored face scan, the fingerprint scanner works but with the big delay.
After playing music and locking the screen, if I turn on the screen and wait about 7 seconds, it will unlock the screen using my face. If I try to use the fingerprint reader, it'll often, but not always, break unlocking entirely until it crashes or I remove the adapter.
If I successfully unlock it, the music is shown to be "still playing", although it's silent. If I lock it again, it's definitely broken and cannot be unlocked via fingerprint or face, and will not fallback to PIN.
If I let it sit a while (not more than 90 seconds) after that, it becomes unresponsive and the screen will not turn on again. It doesn't hard crash all the way to the bootloader, but when I unplug the adapter, the "G" loading logo is shown and then the lock screen asks me for my PIN.
I can't say how I managed to get it to hard crash to the bootloader twice, but I think those times I was quickly using the fingerprint scanner numerous times, turning the screen on and off, and I don't THINK I had a successful unlock first, during the hard crashes to bootloader.
EDIT:
Enabling "allow wired headset requests with device locked" in the Google App doesn't resolve the issue. The headset doesn't work then, either, and gets disconnected. I guess I could file a bug report on that alone and maybe the fix would trickle down to everything else...but I'd rather not.
Sorry for the wall of text, but it's not a simple scenario since I don't know what's actually going on and what's important. Hopefully one of you can help figure out the stuck process and reduce it down to two sentences for a bug report. I don't recall having this issue with my Pixel 6 Pro, but the times I used a USB-C headphone adapter with it was probably only in the first few months it was released, if at all, so a specific Android update may be to blame, but I don't know which/when.
Solved.
Yikes. So if I change my "default USB configuration" in developer options to "no data transfer", then it works normally, music doesn't stop, lock screen works normally.
Well, that solves that part, but I've loved just plugging my phone into my computer and it being ready to go without intervention. Maybe Tasker can be my savior and change the usb configuration type.

That's odd... Did you have a bad adapter or something?
For me most of them works fine. I've tested multiple Chipsets on these (I make custom cables), like:
ES9280C
ALC5686
CS43131
All works fine on March Update....

I think it depends on what you have set up for USB in developer options
Having recently purchased a Pixel 7 Pro, I immediately set the developer option for USB to file transfer (it's even more of a chore in A13 to use the popup than it was in previous versions).
I also picked up a Jsaux USB-C DAC for use with the P7P as, unlike my P20 Pro, it doesn't support USB analogue audio (making my old adapters useless, sadly). As soon as the screen is locked, if the default setting is USB File Transfer, the music stops. If the phone is then unlocked, the app playing will hang.
I was going to return the adapter (thinking it was incompatible or faulty) but decided to check if others had a similar issue. As I only need to use wired audio occasionally, I will just have to manually switch the default setting when needed (far more common that I need the USB file transfer - I usually listen to music with my M&D MW07 earbuds).
