how to unroot with s-on - Verizon HTC One (M8)

Any links on how to unroot and s-on? I found links to hide it and some to flash stock rom but not sure if that will unroot and s-on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you're S-ON and rooted you're probably only rooted via weaksauce and SuperSU which you uninstall both and reboot.

[Q] What will RUU restore

So what exactly does ruu restore? i.e will it return me to a stage where my warranty will be in tact?
It will restore your entire phone. Yes, your warranty will be intact if you flash the correct RUU.
Ok thanks
just 2 questions, will it remove root and return S-on?
Yes, it will remove root (the ROM is what is rooted, not the phone).
But, it will remain S-Off.

You will still have to S-ON manually, but everything else will be back to stock(including root).

If you want to delete the apk's within the rom, yes, if you want do delete them within recovery, no.

if you still have a custom recovery installed (TWRP or CWM) it's as simple as finding a superuser zip package and installing it. I'd say it would be helpful for other things too (such as optional overclcoking/underclocking, etc)
thanks exad
but now how do I go about installing that
I lost my twrp and superuser when I ruu'd back to stock and ota updated
thanks again
Unlock your bootloader, flash TWRP again, flash su.

Actually, if you're s-off, you should be able to skip unlocking your bootloader, and just flash TWRP then su. That's what I did.

by the way I am unlocked
Where are you getting the recovery from? Also, are you checking the md5?

I got the file from this site
now you lost me with md5
I do this stuff following instructions not necessarily knowing what im doing with terminology per say
thanks
Use an md5sum checker to check the integrity of the downloaded file. I assume you're using fastboot? And you're finely getting the correct TWRP for our phone?

Help with S-off, relock boot loader, and 3.18 ruu

Hello,
First thanks to any for all help I'm sure I'll receive. Im pretty sure of what I need to do but I'm a resident physician and can't afford to not have a phone by making a stupid mistake.
So I currently have supercid, am unlocked and rooted with boot loader 1.14. To update basically any roms or my current AOKP ROM I need 2.14. To get 2.14 I need to S-off, relock boot loader and run the 3.18 ruu, and reflash recovery.
Is this correct? The only other I'm confused of is relocking the bootloader, and them unlocking it again.
Thanks for any help.

You only need s-off to run the 3.18 RUU, locking the bootloader isn't necessary and only creates more work afterwards. So all you need to do is go here and get s-off, then you can download the RUU from here and run it. Your unlocked bootloader and s-off status will survive the RUU process but you will need to install TWRP recovery again afterwards.

Will /SD survive the process as well? I have TWRP 2.6.00 on /SD at the root level and have been able to access it from the bootloader.
Thanks again, Timmaaa!
Your sd card shouldn't be wiped during the RUU process but you might want to make a backup just in case.

how do I root again after RUU? do I just need to flash recovery image?
Just flash recovery and then a rooted ROM.

thanks man. appreciate your help.
I've tried and have only been able to obtain unlocked boot loader and root no super cid or s-off ... I'm not sure what I'm missing ...

This might be a dumb question but how do u run the 3.18 RUU? Do i plug my phone via usb and then run it? What do i do?
It's an exe file, so all you need to do is open it in Windows while your phone is connected in fastboot mode, then just follow the prompts. Make sure HTC Sync Manager is uninstalled, make sure no other programs are running, make sure screen saver/hibernation is turned off.

[Q] RUU Issues

I've been trying to acquire S-off, and seeing that I have hboot 2.15, it seems as though I can only moonshine (according to all the threads I've read)
My phone had a CID of Globa001, but I've been told that anything from Canada can be flashed as an ruu, so I flashed Telus001, which is supported by moonshine. Not much surprise but it didn't work.
However, I also flashed Globalive's zip and that itself didn't work either... I got a 12 signature fail.
Is there anything else I can try to achieve s-off? Or will I be stuck as s-on forever...

Rum runner did the trick. It's almost a one click process.
I also made a site for rooting. It's in my signature if you want more info

I want to restore my phone back to stock. I mentioned my CID because that's why you require to select your RUU right? I'm unable to find the RUU for this particular CID so I thought I'd mention it anyway.
I did read up supercid and how it lets you flash any ruu, how can that be done?
Thanks in advance!

I believe you just go through the same procedure with global Cid but you can pick any ruu. Just find the one for globalive (it's an old one) and follow instructions on xda. Again I don't have too much info on this so I can't help much :/

Messed up getting phone ready for repair, need unrooted RUU 4.4.4

Hey all, was getting my phone back to stock, s-on and screwed up and managed to remove root but not the superuser app from my system partition :/
Are there any unrooted 4.4.4 RUU's available that I could use?
Thank you!
