[Q] default keyboard keeps replacing swiftkey - Verizon HTC One (M8)

I have installed Swiftkey from Google Play and select it as the input method but after a few hours or so the default keyboard is selected again. I can't seem to make Swiftkey the default keyboard permanently. Anyone else run into this?

This might be your issue?

Supposedly only on updates...but it wouldn't shock me if the behavior happens more often than that....it's called a bug for a reason.

Interesting. I wonder if that is the issue. Is anyone else having this problem with other 3rd party keyboards on the M8?
I will have to see if there is a way to convert it to a system app.

I'm not having that problem with the Google Keyboard installed from the Play Store.

No but i had Kii installed on my note 3 and it kept switching back to stock keyboard. For some reason the updated versions wouldn't work I had to stick with one build

Same here.. I ended up resorting to freezing the stock keyboard w/ TiBu to get SwiftKey to permanently stick

After you do this, long press on an input field and select SwiftKey as your Input Method.

Power Control Widget Vanished

My Nexus S (i9020a) is running on Jelly Bean, and after recently uninstalling the beta of Apex Launcher and then reinstalling the stable version, I noticed that my Power Control widget was gone.
After I noticed that, I uninstalled Apex Launcher completely (cleared data for the app first to be sure). Still, the Power Control widget was no longer available on my phone.
For the time being, I have downloaded a third-party equivalent off of the Play Store, but I'd really like to know what happened here. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, is there any way to get it back?

Nope. That's a third-party app. The stock Power Controls Widget is nowhere to be found in the app store.
Hi
I'm on the Nexus 7 and have noticed exactly the same thing. This is the stock Android Power Control Widget. It was there with stock launcher and also with Nova Beta, but with Apex, its nowhere to be found.
This just happened on my GNex as well. I figure we're suffering the same issue. Mine vanished after trying out a few 3rd party ones strangely enough. I haven't found anything yet to fix it. Rebooting after an uninstall didn't help either. Any ideas, peeps?

Lol. What the hell? I'm using Widgetsoid for the time being, but this was totally random. I tried reflashing my stock ROM, pushing the launcher via ADB. Zip. Ziltch. Nada. Wonder what could be causing it...

Perhaps a full wipe is in order... But I can live without it for now
Word. I don't really care anymore. It's more of a nuisance that I can't find out why it did.
It becomes unavailable in the widget drawer? What if you on press an empty area on the desktop and select widgets, is it in that list?

No, no longer in the list (for me anyway).
Hi,
Just my 2 cents.... I'm not sure About JB but all other ROMs the app had to be on the phones memory for the widget to even be available or on the widget list.... so perhaps whichever file the power control is in, maybe it got switched over to SD card
Or
An App that was installed moved the files that are needed for that power control widget.
I know its a stab in the dark but ...
Good luck

Go launcher ex
Replace your launcher with GO LAUNCHER EX, free on the Play Store. It is the BEST launcher by FAR. Super fast, tons of options, always free.
Thanks but no thanks
Did a factory reset and Power Control widget is back (on stock launcher), stock N7 JB.
I figured that's what I would have to do to get it back. Thanks for reporting back with a fix .

No worries. Have posted the problem on the main Alex thread, but no comments on it. Also have emailed the Dev, so hopefully it can be resolved soon.

backup your data, and do factory reset maybe it can help to restore the control widget

[Q] Default input method resetting

Hi guys,
I am having an issue on my Nexus 5 (4.4.2, stock, root, xposed) that I can't seem to figure out. My issue is regarding the default input method. For some reason, each time I set my default keyboard to anything other than the Google keyboard, it resets back to the GKB after an unspecified amount of time. I have tried using SwiftKey, Swype, and Fleksy. Each keyboard experiences the same issue.
I don't want to use the Google keyboard, or have to choose a new keyboard almost every time I go to type something.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there an easy fix or workaround?
Thanks for your help.

I freeze all of the imput methods except the one I use. That way, I never have to choose the default imput method because only one is available to the system. And if SwiftKey wonks, I just have to defrost the stock keyboard until I fix it. And no imput method icon in the status bar either.

This happens to me each time i update SwiftKey..
I dont think its a bug.. Idk

if you can locate and grab the swiftkey apk, download and install it. installing it that route, vs using the play store to install it, will place the app in the system location that is read and initialized on boot up.
I used Titanium Backup to convert the play store installation of the app to a system app. Google Keyboard still got set as the default input method after an unknown event.

It will never be set as default (or even be a choice) if you freeze it. See my edited post, above.

I never experienced any keyboard's lag...
Make sure that :
1. You turn off vibrate on keypress, Gesture Typing and Text Correction
2. Are you using the stock keyboard or you download it from google play or flash it? If yes, maybe that's the problem
3. Try another keyboard apps
4. Erase cache on Keyboard Apps...
Try rebooting the phone when it happens. Should clear it up.
Use AI Type Keyboard
Just download and install AI Type Keyboard.. It is much more better than the stock keyboard!
With many more features.. It is free

3rd Party keyboard issues

So currently I am on 2BOGE release on my 920F and I am having an issue with every keyboard but the stock samsung one. Google keyboard, Swiftkey, and all others I have tried will crash when trying to start, they won't close properly, and just a myriad of other issues since the update.
Does anyone know what's going on? The stock keyboard works fine, I just don't like it.
Stick with stock.

And this is what you call support ladies and gentlemen. Stock keyboard is not very good. Hence why it's an issue with me.
I'm using Swiftkey and I noticed that aswell that the stock one always comes up imediately when you want to write something and Swiftkey has a small lag.
This maybe an android OS issue - I had this on my Oneplus one and Sony Z3C. Probably because the stock keyboard is treated as system app, but the 3rd party ones only as user apps?
