AppConfig lets you configure system settings on per-app basis. Settings are automatically applied when you use your applications and restored when you leave them. It'll show notification on status bar with currently applied settings and clicking on it takes you straight to settings for current app for easy manipulation.
Settings you can configure are:
Brightness - auto/manual and dimming for both
Screen orientation - landscape/portrait/sensor based orientations
Screen timeout - time/never
Media volume
Mobile data - on/off
Wi-Fi - on/off
Bluetooth - on/off
Location - off/networks/GPS/GPS and networks
Language
Location and language settings won't work on all devices! Language settings work on Androids older than 4.2, but location settings always need rooted device or you to grant permissions to AppConfig manually.
Android 4.1.1 or newer ROOTED:
If AppConfig recognizes that you have root permissions and your package manager supports granting permissions, it will show menu item for requesting permissions. Click on it and when your system asks grant root permissions and settings will appear in AppConfig.
Android 4.1.1 or newer without root:
If your device isn't rooted but package manager supports granting permissions you need to manually grant permissions to AppConfig with adb:
- - - - - - - -
adb shell
pm grant fi.aarosoft.appconfig.free android.permission.CHANGE_CONFIGURATION
pm grant fi.aarosoft.appconfig.free android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS
- - - - - - - -
First one is for language settings and second one is for location settings.
Android older than 4.1.1:
On older devices if you copy AppConfig as system app and reboot, then it can change location settings. I take no responsibility if you brick your device in the process. You have been warned.

There was bug in Android that made it possible to toggle GPS but it's not working in newer versions. Would it be enough if App Config would open GPS settings screen automatically so user could click GPS on/off?

Hmmm I'm not too sure about that bug though. I know Tasker and AutomateIt are able to set GPS to High Accuracy mode when I launch an app and then set it back to Battery Saving mode after exiting the app. Any ideas how they do it?

Do you mean you want setting to change system language or you want App Config in different language? I'll check what i can do about changing system language next week when I get back home. I have been contacted about German translation so that's coming. If there's more people wanting to do translations please send mail to [email protected]. I have promised to drop full version's price for a day to show my appreciation for the German translator. Do anyone know if i'm allowed to announce price drop here or is it against the rules?

Do they need root privileges and helper module installed in system partiotion? I have read that's needed for toggling GPS. Maybe i'll add this for rooted users and hide option from non-rooted. I will investigate further when I get back home.

Official release is in Google Play.
PerApp is a simple open source app that lets you set a few settings for individual apps. Specifically as of 1.03:
- orientation
- volume boost (Android 2.3+)
- screen timeout time
- CPU speed [root]
- font size
- input method [root]
I have a pre-release version here, with source code in the repository.
I wrote it because there is one app that I wanted to be able to lock the screen orientation for. I knew there is an app in the Market that does that, but I didn't like a recent review of it, so I wrote my own.
I am sure Tasker does all of this and more, but I prefer to use a simple, small and cheap app.
Only the CPU settings use root.
I posted 0.03 which should work better with the never show notification icon option.
Nice this is exactly what i searched changing the volume of one app.
i dowloadet the version PerApp003.apk start the program and after aktivating it and caling the programm again, my screen rests black and i get after +- 10sec the message: Unfortunately, PerApp has stopped.
any posibility to find a error log that can help to find the problem ?

Yeah, install Android Log Collector, run Per App, and right after the crash go to Log Collector and email me (arpruss at gmail dot com) your log. I have yet to see private stuff in a log, but if you're really careful you can email the log to yourself first, look through it, and then forward it to me.

ICS problem fixed, confirmed with user.
I recommend everyone switch to 0.04 as it does stuff The Right Way.
I posted 0.06 which improves an audio boost issue.
I just added:
- CPU min/max speed changing on a per app basis (needs root); you need to go to Menu | Settings to activate it, though.
- Jelly Bean support (needs root, as in JB one doesn't get the READ_LOGS permission without root; on ICS and below root is not needed).
Just put out 0.08, fixing bug in CPU speed adjust.

Great idea!
I made some UI improvements in 0.09. Now in the apps list it shows some info about how apps were customized. Moreover, if you edit defaults, you get an option to reset all apps to default in respect of one of the settings.
Great work!
I suggest separating apps that had their settings changed from the ones with the default settings or puting them on top for easy access...
A change log in the OP would be appreciated as well.
Thanks!
color me impressed. I've been using tasker to do such things but I'd like it in a seperate app, especially if I can export those settings later (apply them to other phones maybe?)

Does the volume boost work the other way around and can you use it on system apps? I'd really like to lower the volume of incoming facebook messages and the camera shutter since it doesn't seem to be affected by changing any sounds except for silent mode.

Great app. Any plans for releasing it in Play store?
Hi Folks!
Tired of switching 7 toggles before going to bed and again when you wake up?
I just added my new app to play store. Basically it's a night profile switcher with a few gimmicks that came to my mind.
Have a look and maybe buy it (think of it as a beer for me )
Check it out on google play!
Of course I'll be around in the thread and you can contact me at [email protected] if you have feature suggestions or want to help me translate.
Free Version available on play store:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jb.good.night.android.free
Please download, add a review if you like it and maybe consider buying the full version.
It enables you to switch back the profile in the morning via toggle or notification.
+ some new features:
- Toggle data, gps, 2g/3g (custom roms)
- Automatically wake up with alarm clock
- Automatically set the alarm clock for each day of the week
- Scheduled wakeup/sleep time
- Colour changing widget for day/night
- Supports nearly all alarm apps
- powernap mode during the day
- more to come!
Description from google play:
Basic features:
- Widget to toggle day/night mode, which let’s you set&reset
- set a radio profile (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Data, Airplane mode*, GPS**, 2G/3G**)

The app offers high functionality, helps you to save battery and time.
It does not run in the background during night!
You can use either the widget or the launcher shortcut to toggle day/night mode. Please note that ONE OF THEM (WIDGET/SHORTCUT) IS REQUIRED FOR THE APP TO DO ANYTHING before rating bad. Instructions how to install the widget or the shortcut can be found in the app (info-tab).
Creative ways to trigger day/night:
As a gesture in a launcher (e.g. double tap, possible in nova launcher prime and others)
As a shortcut on your lockscreen (Not possible on all phones, depends on model & software)
Via DashClock Widget (Extension included in the app)
On certain events (certain location, ..... requires tasker or similar app)

There's 3 reasons why this app has no ads:
1. Battery life: this app is supposed to be energy efficient
2. You wouldn't really see them as the app itself is just a setup for the shortcut
3. I personally don't like them
As for a free app with same features: i couldn't find an app at all that does exactly what i want, this is why i started this project. But if you found an app please pm me the link.
I really like this app myself and i use it every day. It's slim and as far i could test it absolutely stable. Also it allows quite some customization, what is gonna get even more in future releases.

There's some NEWS!
I decided to add a free version to play store.
It will have limited features (No restore in the morning) and less frequent updates, but it also means that there is at least one version available to people who can't or don't want to use paid apps on play store.
Free version will hit play store this evening, I'll post the link as soon as it's online.
Looking forward to have you onboard!

Functionally it's working perfectly, but it turned out to be really hard to support all kinds of screen sizes and dpi values.

I checked it again, and it's strange...
I cleared data and cache for atrium, put icon on my home screen and...
first run, gps icon started to blink immediately after run Atrium, next I connected with facebook (icon still blinking)...
I touched "back" button to go to my home screen and gps icon immediately stopped blinking.
again started Atrium from notification and no gps icon active.
I tried few times and sometimes running Atrium turns gps on, sometimes not.

I've checked this issue and it looks like it is your system specific... at least I was unable to recreate such app behavior on all my test devices I would recommend using approach suggested by LordManhattan, or trying LBE Privacy Guard software that can limit access to GPS service for all your apps you don't need GPS for (this solution requires rooted device).
With KeepRunning you could monitor apps and restart them. You need this if
- Android kills an app to free RAM
- An app crashes
This app has no background service and does not need RAM if it is not checking apps. It restarts only apps which was already running since last system startup, by the user or Android system. System apps are marked with an exclamation mark.
Available options:
Minimize all apps after an app was restarted
Duration of the monitoring intervall
Donation:
No self-promotion in the app.
More than 3 apps could be selected
Bring back last visible app after starting an app
Start apps, even not ever running since system startup

My personal intension to create this app:
I'm using the messenger Trillian which has random FCs. Now Cerulean Studios has"pimped" the UI in a way I don't like. So I have to use the old version with known bugs.
To not miss messages anymore, i restart Trillian after crashes with this app
Now i'm using it also for daily crashes of WhatsApp

I just read it in portal news, looks nice. Good work OP!
Is this an Xposed module or standalone? (Other great apps work with Xposed.)
no module applications ...
Wow, sounds amazing, I could use this for my CarPC.
Would it be possible to add an per-app option to only recover the app when the screen is on ?
Thanks !

Thank you! It's just curious that no one other created such an app before and i had to do it by myself

Standalone, no root. Should work down to API3 (Android 1.5)...

Per-app? A global option "restart apps only of screen is on" would be much easier
So if the time interval is set to 20 minutes, the app check every 20minutes if the selected apps are still running and if they dont, keep running start them again?
Do i get this right?

Yes.
I think "20" is a good value
* you do not miss messages etc to long
* not many checks of the apps, no impact to battery (20 min -> 72 cheks/day)
But you could set whatever you need

Just pushed to Play Store. The logfile shows "sleeping" if
* the setting is enabled
* the screen is off
* an app is detected as not running
Bad side: needs api7. For Android <=2.0 i would have to watch screen-on/-off events :-\

As i wrote in 1st post, i did this app for Trillian and WhatsApp because both crashes sometimes on my device. Then i get calls why i don't answer for so long...
Now i've additionally set Llame and My Data Manager, because i've hidden their notification icons with NotifyClean, and i wan't to know if they closes without it - until now it was not the case
Restart minimized
I would like the option to restart apps minimized without reverting to the homescreen. Please separate these choices.

That's not possible, due Android does not provide the "minimize" of an app
No minimizing

How about returning to previous active app instead of homescreen then? Returning to the homescreen interrupts ongoing use of the phone.

Great idea, i will check if it is possible to get the current focused app. But it could be that there is a short (<1 second) interruption anyway

Just released to Play Store. This needs a new permission "GET_TASKS".
Also added a notification if a app was restarted
I've just added strings for translation to the first post. If you attach here a translation, please send me you email address via PM.
Notice to @kalashenicof @jzak1083 @vipa
Cool app
I, too, wish they would've kept Trillian looking like that old school Gingerbread style, but it's hard to expect them not to upgrade the UI, I guess...
Hello,
UbikiTouch is a gestures and automation app.
I'm a solo android developer and just released my new app on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.toneiv.ubktouch
Functions
Use the gesture to navigate between or within your applications
Execute basic actions or use a remote cursor
Automate repetitive tasks and start them with a simple slide of the screen
Choose from three beautiful different visual effects, a classic pie menu or fluid effects
UbikiTouch allows you to define your own actions for each of your favorite applications! All applications are subject to improvement. You can define an action for each screen of your favorite applications: press a button, select an item, etc. Even better, you can sequence actions to perform more complex tasks.
And of course you can also perform global actions such as:back button, recent apps, home, launch app, shortcuts, etc.
Privacy
I attach great importance to the protection of privacy, which is why UbikiTouch has been developed in such a way that it does not require Internet authorization. The application therefore does not send any data over the Internet without your knowledge.
Translation
UbikiTouch is currently fully translated into English and French. An incomplete and perfectible translation is available in German, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Portuguese. You can choose to change the default language of the application in the "About / Translation" menu of the application. (You can help translate app to your language, please write to: [email protected])
Monetization
The app has no ads.
The Pro version offer you:
Possibility to define tasks for an unlimited number of applications (limited to two in the free version)
Access to more actions, the ability to launch an application or a shortcut
Possibility to completely customize the menu: animation, size, color...
I would greatly appreciate it if you kindly give me some feedback on this app. Your comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Download the app from Playstore - UbikiTouch
Version 1.9.3 - 09/12/2020
Code:
• New: cursor can be set to have no delay and thus remain on the screen until it is manually removed
• New: experimental semi-automatic method for granting "Write Secure Settings" permission via ADB using the WebADB API. See https://ubikitouch.toneiv.eu/adb in your browser.
• Improvement of the explanation tutorial to activate ADB

Alloh~ha, well... I gave it a spin and here's my limited feedback because I can't use the app properly due to accessibility service lag (Just as you mentioned within apps Q&A) .
1) Add back button to the tutorial. If I accidentally skip page or just want to refresh what I read - I have to reopen it again.
2) Transparency settings - They are not easy to find.
This is probably the first thing the user will want to change and yet you do not give any indication where it is located.
This is what we have now:
Triggers - - > color - - > set trigger color (trigger area color) - - > scroll down in popup for transparency settings.
Here's my solutions:
A] Add text somewhere to indicate where the transparency settings are located ("Color & Transparency" for example).
B] Create separate place under "color" just for transparency options.
That's it buddy, good luck developing!

Thank you very much for this interesting feedback. I will take this into account for the next update.
It's a real shame that the accessibility service causes slowdowns on your device....
