[Q] Galaxy N7000 ROM - General Questions and Answers

I have wanted to put the PAC rom on my phone so I downloaded the PAC_i605 nightly 20140409.zip when I try to install from sd card I get error 7 coming up and its aborted. My phone is rooted and also has PhilZ-cmw6-xxlt9-ORA5.11 on it.
I am currently running the Revolt-JB4.4 on it with no problems.
I really wanted to try the PAC rom but am a noobie and really don't know whats up. I am not sure I want to start editing updater scripts if that is the fault. Any help much appreciated.

[Q] Need help restoring Jiayu G3 to factory ROM 4.0.4

Hello!
I am a complete noob on this topic, but I somehow thought it would be smart to try and update my Jiayu G3 to Jelly Bean (4.1.2?). I followed a tutorial on Youtube and it worked. However, after installing it, I had no wifi/bluetooth. So after a while trying to get it turned on I thought, whatever, I don't need jelly bean anyway. I reset the phone to factory default not realizing it kept the same version.
I turned it off, then hopped into CWM Recovery and installed a 4.0.4 ROM. Still no wifi/bluetooth. I then downloaded the original version from the Jiayu website corresponding with my phone version (20121129-082828), but using it in CWM is giving me an error:
assert failed: getprop("ro.board.platform") == "MT77_H958_ICS" ||
E:Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted.
I read somewhere that you have to use the original update tool or something? I tried using the app thats standard on the phone. Same thing, I press update, it reboots and goes into CWM but then says something like cannot find update.zip on ...
Please tell me if I need to give more details about my phone or what ROM I should use.
Thanks in advance,
xSteun.
EDIT:
I fixed it!
I used the Jiayu G3N ROM from needrom.com and I'm using 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. Wifi and Bluetooth are working.

I am facing exactly the same issue, I need to go back to original ROM as the custom ROMs I tried are not allowing me to encrypt the phone which is a requirement for me to access office email. I have tried GThrill ROM, and Lewa ROMs 4.1.2, though both of them are very good, except for minor issues. Can you please provide the link for Jiayu G3N ROM that worked for you, and if you are seeing any other issues, I would like to try that.
Thanks,
Adit

[FIXED] Please Help! Lots of Flashing Errors

Just a quick heads up to everyone, I was able to fix my issue by SWITCHING TO A NEW SDCARD, I had been using a 64GB SDCARD and I switched to a 2GB SDCARD and I guess that my recovery or my phone couldn't handle such a large card.
It took me about two days to come to this conclusion but after lots of ODIN and reflashing just about everything possible I've decided this was the issue. Also I ran up my flash count a hell of a lot. I hope this helps someone out who may have issues like mine!
Hey all,
Today I decided I would try out a new ROM on my SGS3 so I decided to install the MIUIv5 ROM here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2232800
Normally ROM installations go quite smooth for me so I opened up TWRP v2.5.0.0 and I did as I usually do by making a backup and wiping my system and then going to install my ROM. Instead today I got tons of errors saying:
Code:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /external_sd/MIUI5_d2vzw_3.4.12.420-signed (1).zip
(bad)
Installation aborted
So, I downloaded the ROM again, but this time from the mirror just in case I had a bad .zip or it didn't transfer to my SDCARD correctly, but then I started getting more and more errors.
Instead of getting a bad zip error I got the following:
Code:
E:Mount: Unable to find partition for path '/'
I guess this means it can't find my root partition?
Now all of a sudden I can't find my backups and I am just stuck without a ROM and I only have a recovery... quite inconvenient, also I can't flash any ROMS as I tried flashing some others but they didn't work at all no matter what I did and I am just running in circles... any help is GREAT APPRECIATED as I would love to have a functional phone by tomorrow.
I am fairly fluent with android and linux systems as well as computers in general so I should be able to provide any helpers with almost all information needed relative to my device, but sadly this whole issue has really stumped me.
Thanks so much!

Have you tried flashing with Odin?
I know a lot of people swear by twrp but for me I always seemed to have issues. I had a similar issue you are having when I finally flashed cwm again. I was able to fix my issue by odin.

Thanks for both of your replies, I decided just to revert back to stock and I am in the process of re-obtaining root and such and then I am going to try to flash again just using recovery... by flashing by odin do you mean flashing a ROM or flashing back to stock?
FIXED! Read OP

Having trouble updating to 4.4.2

I'm on 4.4 right now and I just reviewed the ota but when it finished downloading, it went stock recovery and just said "error". Obviously I was pissed so I then went the adb root but that wouldn't work either. Something about it not being able to find "update.zip" when it is clearly in the same folder. After that I decided to flash a custom recovery, not clockwork but the other one. Whenever I try to go that route it still says it failed. I have been looking at posts and none have helped so far.
I am rooted, I don't have busybox/xposed, I am using art. I read something about having to have all of the stock apps. I had a modded playstore on here but I didn't work so I re-download one and installed it, could that have anything to do with my problems? And if so, where can I find another playstore app?
also, this is what it says in the custom recovery: /system/framework/core-libert. Jar unexpected E:Error executing updater in zip I tried googling but to no avail.
That modded play store might have changed some system files that prevent the update. You can try flashing one of the stock 4.4.2 Roms available in the android development forums. I used the one by bigxie.

Noob trying to upgrade Asus TF101 to Lollipop and failed

Hey folks. I am trying to get the hang of messing around with my android device. I am quite good with Windows/Linux, so this is the next frontier. So here is my problem: I am trying to update my TF101 to 5.1 and the installation failed. I installed Clockwork Recovery v3.2.0.1 and it worked well, I can get into recovery no prob. I installed the kitkass 5.1 on the SD card, the Update-Super-v2.46, and Katkiss_5.1_030c.
When I trying to install from zip the Katkiss I get this error:
set_metadata_recursive: Some changes failed.
E:error in sdcard/Kitkass/Katkiss-5.1_030c.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I am a bit stumped. Did I download a bad copy? I can't get into the TF101 at this point except for recovery. When I try, it just stays on the ASUS splash page.
I am sure this has been asked before, but I couldn't find any threads with this issue. Any help is appreciated.

I have this devices some were in a drawer lol anyways sounds like u mave have downloaded a bad copy try redownloading and get a md5 checker and check it. Also did you make a back up in twrp? If so could restore that in time being. Have a read trew kitkass thread agin and see if you missed any thing i know i had that rom running at one point but went back to kitkat cuz it was more stable.
Thanks for the help. I think I had a bad copy and a redownload fixed the issue. Android 5.1 is on the device and it sort of works. Well, not really. It runs poorly, reboots a lot and now it actually reboots before I can log in. I think I should hit a lower version of Android. Any suggestions on which version works best on the TF101? As of now its not usable.
Also, if I go to say, 4.4, can I use the same gapps-Katkiss-5.1 or do I need a correct version for 4.4? Can I just install it over 5.1 or do I need to wipe the device and start from scratch?
Again, thanks for the help.:good:
I tried to install 4.0.3, the official TF101 image from Asus but it wouldn't install. How do I go back to stock?

Rom problem

Hi
Im new here and actually i have a very very big problem with my Samsung S3 I9300. Days ago i installed Cm13 on my S3 but i got back to stock mistakelly, but now i want to instal Cm 13 again but when i try to flash it it says "cant open, abort" . Does anyone has any idea whats the problem ? i have tried to redownload the rom again form differet servers but nothing. Also used CWM, TWRP but still same thing. i can install S5 sensation, not blekota, not Cm13, why ?? does anyone has any idea whats the problem ?
Thank you
What do you mean by mistakingly?? Anyway since you can flash roms other than CM13 I suggest you try resurrection remix which is based on cm13 and has the same features (and even more ) frequent updates and a good support so you won't miss anything from CM.
You can try it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/development/rom-ressurrection-remix-m-t3270121
Don't be a leech, press the thanks button ?.
