use adb sideload and install from recovery :
boot to recovery > install zip > install from sideload
open a terminal in the folder where you have the rom zip and type "adb sideload nam_of_zip.zip
It cannot read it

nevertheless, you can try booting on Linux, install ADB and set udev rules, then you shouldn't have any issues with sideloading (windows sux for android related things )

Yeap, I think the solution is a factory reset on the recovery with reflashing the CM11S fastboot image.

I can't mount the usb storage so i can put a rom on it from a computer. It says it's unable to find storage partition to mount to usb. I have no OS on there so I can't boot to anything. All I have is a recovery.
Why don't you just flash it with fasboot?

there you go:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=42407269
install adb+fastboot,
while are in the bootloader you are able to flash a recovery like clockworkmode, then reboot into recovery.
if you got the correct driver you should be able to connect to your moto g while in recoery with adb.
then you are able to push, adb push *.zip /directory, or adb sideload *anyrom*. (dont forget to use install zip/use sideload..)
enjoy.

Thanx 4 the quick response. I'll try it.
I unrooted phone to update to Android 5.0.1
Wiped data & cache and tried to reboot but phone won't load past boot animation
I have tried everything I can find online. Phone appears in Device Manager as Android Device, but does not connect to PC when in command prompt.
adb devices shows no devices
when I start phone in fastboot, then recovery mode, I can select to install a file via ADB
when I choose this, and run adb devices in command prompt, it then shows a sideload device
but when I go to load a file, it gives me the same error every time:
E:footer is wrong
E:signature verification failed
Is there anything I can do? Please help! Thanks.

All you have to do is restart the phone in bootloader and make a fresh install of factory image via fastboot.

How can I make my Acer read Nexus 5 to install factory image via command prompt?
It comes up in Device Manager, driver seems to be installed fine, as Android Device but does not connect properly (no devices listed in "adb devices")
You use fastboot in bootloader if you want to use factory images.
Read the following 2 threads in general > sticky roll-up
- adb and fastboot
- flashing factory images / save your nexus

i cant seem to boot into recovery, i tried using adb but it just restarts my phone. i tried to fastboot flash boot recovery but it just shows as <waiting for any device> trying to flash recovery also shows waiting for any device.
adb devices detects my phone though. adb reboot bootloader sends my phone into a black screen with a blue light, but i cant flash anything to it as it is not detected, adb devices in this mode does not detect the phone. where can i find the drivers for s1boot?
